Lou, aren't you the lil genius! ❤ I never would have thought of that. I agree though, a mold should be able to hold its own. That would have been very disappointing. The Jaquard paints you have used are gorgeous and applied so beautifully may I say. 😊 A wonderful tutorial as always sweetheart, thank you so much! 😘 👌

Thanks for showing us the difference in painting before or after sealing, Louise, and the tip about supporting the underneath. Your feathers came out beautiful!

Oh my gosh! You did it! Thank you so very much for demonstrating that, yes we can add additional details by painting on Aqua Cast and for answering the question of to seal before or after. Your feather is absolutely GORGEOUS!

Can *definitely* tell a difference between the two castings, Louise! How clever to use a plaster of Paris support! 👍😊
Those paints are *gorgeous!* *LOVE, LOVE* the second leaf! The soft colors and chrome are perfect together. 😘 Love the brighter colors on the first leaf, too. I think I just like color! 😅

Those pearlescent paints are absolutely beautiful! Both feathers are amazing but I think my favorite is the light blue one.

the practice feather was pitiful when it came out of the mold, the extra support was genius! both are lovely after painting and gold leaf. thank you for the "sealing" experiment!

Wonderful tutorial Louise! I certainly learnt a lot from it, especially the name of the feathers rib! I’ve had my mould a few years now and only used it for resin with good results. I’m yet to try this method, so your tutorial is saved. Thank you.☺️💐your painting is beautiful on both feathers! ❤

Than Ypu Louise! I've been coveting that mold for a couple years but now know what to look for when I finally get one. I guess the bottom needs longer support feet to rest flat on surface while still providing the concave effect. I love both of your outcomes, just stunning! Al

    Temu may be selling "seconds".
Defective molds that they obtain really cheap.
I've got the same mold from another source and don't have those issues.
Also the weight of the Aqua Cast may have been a factor as I've only used resin in mine. 🤷
The colors turned out beautiful. ❤

Thank you so much for doing this. I have this mold and it doesn't have the same problem as yours. I think i got mine from Amazon but I have one from Ali Express as well. We have a summer place in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, US and was thinking of making these for a craft fair. I love the way the paint came out. I actually had not thought of painting. I'm a crummy painter but I think I can rewatch this and do a good job.

I bought a mold from Temu but after making the swan trinket box I noticed a flaw in the base. Asked for a refund and threw both the mold and two lots of swans away. A lot of resin was wasted. So disappointed, I will not be buying anymore molds from Temu. The feathers are lovely.
