It has to be Kittel for me. He only contested one sprint, but he won that one from a worse position than the people he outsprinted. He may not be the best tactician among the sprinters, but he certainly has the greatest power.
15s power of both is really high. But I expected the peak to be much higher... I do 15s with 780W but peak is at 1260W which is nearly the same as Caleb Ewan...
My brother and I were at this stage in Abu Dhabi. After a enjoying a lap on track in a support car behind the riders, we walked around the start/finish line area and spotted Matt and his camera crew member in the pitlane around 15 km before the finish and had a word and a laugh with him. All I can say is- what an absolute gentleman he is in person! Not only a legend in cycling and now a celebrity, this man is as friendly off screen as he appears to be on screen, (and something tells me that would have held true if any other GCN presenter had been the one we'd spotted). A big thank you to GCN for doing what they do so well, being so awesome, and being so humble about it too!
Very comprehensive coverage! Definitely delighted by the numbers and the full coverage of the award instead of only top 3 podium! Keep up the good work GCN!
Really love these race reports. As someone kind of new to cycling (triathlon) I really enjoy watching the races but I'm unfamiliar with the scene, thanks for doing these videos!
i like the race reports. id like to see more races on car race tracks like this. id like to see more performance breakdowns such as what cadence and watt, effort etc riders are at in different sections of races and how a shorter race compares to a longer one, hilly vs flat etc. thanks
Impressive wattages. My 15 second PB is 886 watts (peak of 1006). My higest wattage is 1358. Weight 70kg. Strangely enough I did it at the end of a 24 hour race (I did 503 km).
Being 3 inches taller and 10 kg heavier than Caleb I can barely hold 1000w for 15 seconds when fresh... The difference between a pro and us mere mortals
Do pros use tires with grooves in them during heavy rain stages to prevent aqua-planning thus tires sliding? Or is this exclusive to race car wheels? #torqueback #askgcnanything
I have never compete, but I can generate even slightly better numbers than Caleb (at least at turbo, I have no power meter) and from time to time win green jersey in Zwift. Would I be a valuable competitor? #torqueback
Chocolate voice's voice, while still as nice as freshly made mousse au chocolat, seems less so. Does that mean he is getting fit for his upcoming ride?
Drew Labat I think our beautiful sport is growing in the sense of making it more equal towards women. We're seeing more and more races and tours being included in the women's pro calendar too. I don't know if this exact tour will be made available to women racers but I'd love to see it happen! We're growing out of this "cycling is for men" mentality and I'm very happy about that.
Luciano Narno that's kind of what I meant, if the women of this free world I aren't good or equal enough to have their ride then it should be abandon..
Which of the sprinters at the Abu Dhabi Tour has impressed you the most this week? Let us know your thoughts!
Global Cycling Network kittel
Wattage Bazooka goes to Ewan
Ewan against Kittel, Cavendish, and Greipel? Most definitely Ewan.
It has to be Kittel for me. He only contested one sprint, but he won that one from a worse position than the people he outsprinted. He may not be the best tactician among the sprinters, but he certainly has the greatest power.
Kittel
Finally, some power numbers included in commentary. Good job guys!
Thanks for including the wattage numbers of the two. Always interesting to see the figures.
Yeah, now I can confirm how weak I am.
haha.
The numbers were so informative.
15s power of both is really high. But I expected the peak to be much higher... I do 15s with 780W but peak is at 1260W which is nearly the same as Caleb Ewan...
But remember Ewan weight 61kg. Mark Cavendish's peak is around 1400 in a race and I know quite a few people with peaks between 1500-1800.

Wow! What an amazing sprint finish. The race backdrop was majestic. Incredible.
Really love these race reports. As someone kind of new to cycling (triathlon) I really enjoy watching the races but I'm unfamiliar with the scene, thanks for doing these videos!
These race reports are simply brilliant! Please do this for all tours!
I enjoyed watching the race report about Formel 1
i like the race reports. id like to see more races on car race tracks like this. id like to see more performance breakdowns such as what cadence and watt, effort etc riders are at in different sections of races and how a shorter race compares to a longer one, hilly vs flat etc. thanks
Just look how the water sprays up from the back tires!
Absolutely LOVE the race reports!!!!!
I wish they can stage races in f1 tracks. I'd love to see them do SPA in Belgium.
Galicano Siton it would get repetitive at a certain point
A bike race on a race track under the lights in the rain. I like it.
Love these race reports, would be great if you could keep them up for the season! Thumbs up all round
Thanks for showing the sprinters max powers! Also thanks to the pros for sharing :)
Amazing reports make my eating time a good time always thanks gcn
Fantastic job on your Abu Dhabi coverage!
More more more race reports please. I don't have Eurosport so this is good for a daily fix, when there is racing of course 👍🏼👌🏼
team novo nordisk did a good job they are an all diabetes team with some of the greatest people in the world
Mark's "Fuck it" face haha
Would be great if you did reports on the races in Belgium as well!
great report !
Love the reports!
not to long not to short. Just good with to the point information.
As an F1 fan it's weird but quite cool to see them racing around Yas Marina.
I love gmbn
wrong channel
Keep up the good work guys.
Throwing some shade at the end there.
Good for Ewan. #OnlyCelebrateAfterTheLine
I get it but it's still funny to see someone wetting their face in the pouring rain
Mannuel Corona Yeah I also thought about that. Why did he do it? He was already drenched in rain water! LOL.
Keep it up
Awesome work Caleb and Orica in shitty conditions.
This is the only way I keep up withe the pro racing
I love gcn
Damn, Greipel is a machine.
The power numbers were neat, but a better comparison between Greipel and Ewan would've been watts/kg since their size is quite different...
#RaceReportsForEveryWorldTourRace
would of liked to see Marcels power for stage 2 when he mugged Calab on the line
Andre Gripel producing 1500 watts, for over 15 seconds!? Insane.
Impressive wattages. My 15 second PB is 886 watts (peak of 1006). My higest wattage is 1358. Weight 70kg. Strangely enough I did it at the end of a 24 hour race (I did 503 km).
Hördur Hreinsson 24 hour race!?!? Man that's amazing! 500 km takes me a few months lol
Being 3 inches taller and 10 kg heavier than Caleb I can barely hold 1000w for 15 seconds when fresh... The difference between a pro and us mere mortals
2:57 Mark Cavendish: Ah fuck, I mistimed my sprint I thought he was gonna celebrate early again.
omg metrics! I love metrics!
riding around a Formula 1 circuit in the rain actually looks like a lot of fun
Do pros use tires with grooves in them during heavy rain stages to prevent aqua-planning thus tires sliding? Or is this exclusive to race car wheels? #torqueback #askgcnanything
I wish they would use the cycling lay off for the formula 1 race.
Did anyone else spot Matt running after Rui Costa with the rest of the media after the race?
Charles Poirier at the end of the race just after he crossed the line
Racing on courses like this makes cycling look like some type of novelty. Stop the madness!
John Riggs haha this is just final stage mate. look at all the previous stages which were on normal roads !
where did you get the power numbers? :O
I have never compete, but I can generate even slightly better numbers than Caleb (at least at turbo, I have no power meter) and from time to time win green jersey in Zwift. Would I be a valuable competitor? #torqueback
Whats the power to weight ratio of greipel et al?
James Huxford divide the 1500 watts by his weight.
Chocolate voice's voice, while still as nice as freshly made mousse au chocolat, seems less so. Does that mean he is getting fit for his upcoming ride?
Go Patrick Konrad! Geht schoooo!
Who cares if you are first, just appreciate the video.
You pronounce "Tag Heuer" weird.
1:08 sprays face with water. guess he wasn't wet enough.
A big crit race... Hey are we gonna see the women racing over there? 😧..
Drew Labat why not ?
I asked a question, not made a statement..
