Thanks for doing all that research! I don’t buy into trends unless it’s something I really like. I’m glad long skirts are back ( pays to thrift shop 😉). Won’t be wearing any cut outs or pop tops, but it’s good to know what’s going to be coming at me . I doubt if everyone will loose their neutrals, but I’ll be happy to see a little colour. Really nice valuable vlog. You look lovely with the new dark background. Thanks again. Joyce 🇨🇦
Thanks so much for such a wonderful and kind comment Joyce! I had a lot of fun doing all of this research. I find it so interesting to see what flows in and out of fashion according to our style overlords hah. I am right with you about the colour. I'll keep my neutrals at the front but I cannot wait to see some more pops of vibrancy in 2022! I'll have to use this backdrop again I really appreciate that feedback! A x
Definitely subbing. you don't put down the trends you don't like, like other 'all neutrals minimalist' type UA-camrs. They all make fun of the y2k trends and ESPECIALLY low rise jeans,, but forget that they actually suit tons of people :(. So glad to see such a positive, well spoken, well researched creator!
WELCOME!! Aw this means so much to me. I really think that there is someone out there that suits each and every piece. It's almost about finding out what is your style uniform and respecting that it might not be the same for someone else and that is why fashion is an art form. So glad you liked this one! xo
Love the data nerd approach to compiling fashion trends. I can't stop thinking about oversize Chinese and Korean fashion, that's so interesting to me right now, so I was pleased to see the voluminous / oversized silhouettes, gender neutral, and big jackets on the list. I've been cheering my style up with bright colors so that trend resonated with me too. Lastly, I know you were joking around about clogs, but go look at Calou Stockholm and tell me you didn't see at least one pair you wanted:)
I love this comment so much! There is so much her to discuss! Yes data nerds unite haha! Oh I need to go look at some more examples of oversized Chinese and Korean fashion. I love when culture plays a big role in the art of fashion. Also love to hear you've already been incorporating bright colours. I cannot wait to unpack my spring summer clothing now (currently 40cm of snow in Toronto lol so that might not be for awhile!) Also okay WOW these Calou Stockholm shoes are so gorgeous! Hahah I think I'm going to be biting my tongue on that one!
Yes, their clog boots are so pretty! I hear Toronto is fabulous. Living in Los Angeles, I rarely think to pack away my winter or summer clothes, but it sounds rather nice to rediscover items not seen for half a year. I may want to follow your example:)
It’s so so fun (and funny) to see these y2k trends coming back! :-) They remind me of my high school/college days, and I find them equal parts horrifying and wonderfully nostalgic! This 44 year old won’t be rocking low rise anything, but I am absolutely loving the colorful dressing. Just found a fab tangerine blazer in a thrift shop, sewed new sparkly colorful Pearl and jewel buttons on and got compliments from a bunch of the Gen Z girls in different stores the day I wore it out (a few days ago), which was so cute. Everyone seems excited in my city to be having things to dress for again! Fashion is so fun, as long as we don’t fret over these trends coming and going, and wear what we love. Love your attitude and thanks for the research and the vid! 🧡💗💚
This Spring is really bringing Sex and the City vibes and I'm here for it! I love that color is coming back after years of neutrals. This is the best time to be colorful after all of this crazy mess out in the world.
Love your practical approach with sensible applications of fashion to our everyday outlook for style and you are definitely correct we need colour and bling in our world to feel good and alive again !! Thank you Joyce
Not LOW RISE pants again! Omg I still ptsd from my teen/young adult years in the late 90s early 2000s. I’m not that skinny anymore and I don’t want to be. F that
Great video! I make almost all my clothes and have a pattern stash that dates back to the 80s. So excited about the low slung baggy trousers/jeans after 3 years of rib age huggers!
Oh my gosh you are incredible! I love that! I remember as a kid going with my mom to look at patterns and being so excited by the possibilities of making them and choosing the fabric. I think this skill is so special. Thanks for sharing! xo
I’m wanting to learn to sew sooo much this year for some reason. Maybe because I’m looking for a creative outlet now that I’m feeling inspired again after the past two years in full depression mode! 😂😵💫 I made my first shoe clips today; they’re absolutely hideous and fabulous! Big bright pops of color! I think sewing your own clothes should be the next big trend, so bravo to you for being a leader of the pack!! 🙌🏼🪡🧵📍
💟 I stick with what I love, is comfortable & makes me feel my best !!! Fashion trends come & go, they make money & move on to the next. I have been shopping my own closet lately & really enjoying it!!! Right now I'm challenging myself to wear a different outerwear piece every day as I live in the U.S. northeast & it's winter temp now!!! Thanks! 💟💜💟
I LOVE that you stick with what you love! The older I get I feel like I am really coming to understand what works for my body and what I can love on others who might be blessed with another figure. This is one big reason I absolutely love fashion and the art of style! Thanks for the comment Linda I really appreciate it :)
I love it that you feel free to be authentic.i feel so especially after going through a period where I lost everything in my life because my husband died young and suddenly then everyone I thought loved me also disappeared.i now live and dress and do everything that makes me happy not for society or family but it took this hard knock for me to learn everything is a passing phase in life
Very well researched video! Thank you! Something I've been thinking lately is that trends are are loosing their meaning. I watched a video of how platforms are outdated and just a couple of months later they were included in a video for upcoming trends. It is fun keeping an eye on trends but most of them come and go so fast that it is not feasible investing in any of them. (Except trends that last for years like oversized clothes and loose jeans but how can we know what will stick and what will not?)
I completely agree about them losing their meaning. I really think there needs to be a new word for what's on the runway these days. I think we're all becoming more comfortable wearing what makes us happy! I almost see these runways as an art expression that flows through our high streets. It's so hilarious how cyclical some of these are! Loved this comment Margarita thank you so much for being so thoughtful and taking the time to share this with me! xo
Thanks for the research! It’s so interesting to hear the terms and phrases that are being paired with the visual trends I’ve been noticing online/social media. So funny to hear what they’re being named.
The research in this video is great! One thing I dont really understand is why people are using the word "regencycore" in reference to the corsets. The "corsets" shown in this video are the ones that are trendy right now for sure, but these are not even similar to regency corsets, instead they are quite similar to the stays of the late 1700s. I have heard that empire waists are expected to make a comeback this year, and certainly they evoke regency, but really what we are seeing now with these stays/corsets is more of a reference to Marie Antoinette and that time period, RococoCore if you will. Peasant blouses reference the late 1700s as well imo, having a similar aesthetic to the Chemise a la Riene, created because Marie Antoinette enjoyed living in her cottage that was designed to be similar to a peasants house, and she wanted a more relaxed style of dress to wear there.
Ella we are soul sisters haha the amount of wonderful research you put into this comment speaks right to my soul!! Thank you for all of this context and all of this thought and care! I love it and definitely see what your saying. I am happy it includes peasant blouses because I have a few that are either tops or dresses and are my absolute favourite for summer. Thanks love! xo
When I wear minis ( that can roll up when you sit down) I make sure I wear solid colored stockings underneath and heels the same color to elongate my legs.
Happy New Year to everyone here & Amanda! XThis video was a great way to start the New Year ☺️. I’m not a fan of the “Britney Spears” era low rise (ok I liked it back then but not anymore lol) but bringing it back to a more relaxed fit I think I can get on board with that! Lol so many good things in this one vid! You’ve inspired me to write a post as well (hope that’s ok 😊). Great work, Amanda! Here’s to a better year! 🥂
Aw thanks Zee! Haha I totally agree!! Yes absolutely go for it! 🥰✨ Happy to be part of that inspiration process. Have a great new year love! Here is to new dreams and a ton of creativity! X
Subscribing for sure! Sure! You clearly did a ton of research and I love the visuals you included and love how you are you have a warm compassionate vibe!
I loved this video! You are so genuine well spoken and precise in your research. This makes me feel so much more comfrtable for the wave of new fashion and the transition we'll be going through. Thank you!! ♥️♥️ ill be binging all your videos now 😂💗
I love that Shelley! I like seeing what is trending because it can give things we already have hidden in the back of our closet a new life! Can't wait for more pearls!
This was a very well thought out and presented video! I must be honest with you in saying that I feel like I’m going to not do well with the trends. I really didn’t like any of them as I went through the super bright flashy phase a couple of years ago. I’ve always been slow to trends so I’m still trying to get into the lounge clothes. Ik its more important to be comfortable than trendy especially as I am a full time student but it is still difficult to keep up. Hopefully others my age and in my situation will feel the same and keep doing what we are already doing
Thanks so much for the comment Katie!! Oh yes I am so on that wavelength as well. I feel like I am finally figuring out my personal style so a lot of these trends I'm thinking it's a pass haha. Also thinking back to my student days it was totally all about being comfortable for those long days studying. A long sleeve and roots sweatpants or my favourite pair of jeggings were pretty much all I wore back then! Best of luck this year at school!! xo
Oh my goodness no way Sasha!! That is too funny we are clearly soul sisters! I'm going to make one for just spring trends and go a little bit more in depth so hopefully that will save ya some time too! :)
Your thoughts on the platform clogs reminded me that one week ago was the premiere of S14 Rupaul’s Drag Race and a queen, Willow Pill, did her entrance look using a beachy Y2K Paris Hilton outfit with white kinda shinny platform flipflops, like… it’s literally the encarnation of the 2022 trends 😂 I don’t know I just thought that coincidence was so funny, like the trends really are everywhere haha
Really like your channel. Fine hair tutorials are excellent. Love fashion but always keep it more Audrey Hepburn just because her style is always in. Mini skirt, cut outs and crazy face are short lived.
A lot of people aren’t working from home anymore this year so I was expecting more workwear pieces being in trend. I’m finally able to wear my loafers out and it might not be in trend as much as it was last year but I’ll continue wearing it this year. Also great video!!
love your thorough research on the trends.. look forward to other grear videos! i am so glad pop colors are back.. neutral tone although suits lots of people but.it has been too.boring that we stayed with neutral for years.. easy to lack individuality in neutrals.. thank god we can.have fun.colors.to brighten up our lives.post pandemic
Haha Yessss fashion/data nerd unite 😂😂 I've been seeing them on some of my favourite UA-camrs but they tend to wear them all the time! I'd say if you love them wear them! I'll certainly be giving them a go in Spring/summer! Maybe they fit in with regencycore!
Thanks. Love the chart. I am not into naked fashion of any kind. But love the colors, oversized comfort clothes and chain belts.I try to put in little things to upgrade my style even tho I do not buy fashion because it’s IN. I wear what I like. I’m into green fashion and buy secondhand or repurpose my own stuff.
Thanks so much for such a thoughtful comment Kat! I agree! I love sprinkling in trends if they make sense for my existing wardrobe. Can't wait to see how all of this unfolds!
I'll keep wearing my neutrals but add some bright colours - and of the latter there is a big choice (my favourites are blues, violets and yellows). I have more colours in my summer wardrobe. Miu Miu had great colour combinations using all shades of neutrals with denim shirts and other blues, mainly periwinkle and sky blues. Loved that, so again neutrals come in useful. I won't do the look like a crayon trend though! The micro minis and bare stomachs were scary though - their models look like broom handles so they could handle it. Also, I'm old enough to have seen it all before. After identifying some colours you like, it is really all about shape and proportions. I didn't think I'd like wearing looser trousers but it is so comfortable. I have kept some skinny jeans but I'm not wearing them. Leggings are always useful for some looks, and great under things for winter. I always have a lot of white for summer. Love the Godess dresses, but I have a few versions though I prefer a midi length rather than long. Also, seems like oversize is still here, but then the opposite, skin tight (never did the latter anyway, apart from swimsuits). Handbags. Some look super cheap and are. I hate the gold chains on bags and shoes, but some may love them. They look uncomfortable to wear. But I have got lots of unusual chain belts collected over years which liven up so many outfits. You can make one out of a long necklace you are tired of too. I just pray oversize jumpers don't disappear, but I've got enough to last a few more winters!
Thank you for you hard work I am definite ready to jump in to try out so many different styles for me I am definitely going all out with the mins all do like you not quite ready for the belt style 😀😀
Aw these are my favourite kind of comments! That is so wonderful to hear that you want to push yourself out of your comfort zone! Me too! But I agree - I'm not quite ready for the ultra mini 🙊
I have been in misery these past years with high-waisted pants. I am THRILLED about low-waisted items. The high waist has never flattered me and I am FINALLY going to have something that does flatter me again!

Mara I love all of the people in the comments who are standing up for platform clogs! Another person told me about Calou Stockholm shoes and wow... I am thinking I am a convert! I'll check out the Calvin Klein ones too! Aha Next fashion video "How I style my platform clog collection" hahah
Thanks for the feedback Janet! Because the video had so much information I didn't want it to be too long. But with that being said might be nice to make a couple of chapters on this kind of thing that we could go a little more in depth on everything at a slower pace. Something to consider! Thanks for watching :)
I don’t like when people call masculine clothes androgynes (I hope I spelled it right) I think it’s alright for woman to wear masculine things but calling it masculine is more truthful
Androgyny used to be for women who had more masculine physical features or men who had more feminine physical features but it’s only recently that it has transitioned to clothing styles. So you’re right, the right term is masculine clothing.
Thanks for doing all that research! I don’t buy into trends unless it’s something I really like. I’m glad long skirts are back ( pays to thrift shop 😉). Watching the section about the headscarves totally transported me back to my middle school days watching Mary-Kate and Ashley movies back in 2002!
Omg yes!!! At first I was like yah probably pass but then I was thinking hold on 😂 that might be cute to relive hahah
This Spring is really bringing Sex and the City vibes and I'm here for it! I love that color is coming back after years of neutrals. This is the best time to be colorful after all of this crazy mess out in the world.

Hahahah RIGHT!?!!! 😂 I love the passion in this comment Shannon hahaha
Then don’t wear them. I will. Lol
Great video! I make almost all my clothes and have a pattern stash that dates back to the 80s. So excited about the low slung baggy trousers/jeans after 3 years of rib age huggers!

It is so refreshingly surprising to actually see someone do a real analysis versus sharing opinions 😍
Aw thank you so much Alec! I definitely wanted to keep my opinion out of this video as much as possible so I am thrilled that came across! xo

New to your channel. 🤣 homage to a fashion “data nerd”… love it! How about “bows” seen in hair trend 🎀 in black?
Haha Yessss fashion/data nerd unite 😂😂 I've been seeing them on some of my favourite UA-camrs but they tend to wear them all the time! I'd say if you love them wear them! I'll certainly be giving them a go in Spring/summer! Maybe they fit in with regencycore!
OMG your comment about people being afraid of nipples is way too real. So silly! Great video Amanda!
YES!! Maddy why is it like that haha! So silly! Thanks so much for watching love xo
Lovely young person …a pleasure to watch. Great voice modulation, great editing and content. Terrific work.
Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a thoughtful comment Patricia! 🥰
Looks like Gamines (Kibbe body type) are gonna have a lot of fun ✨
Woot woot!!
I love my neutrals.. but I’m glad I didn’t get rid of some my colorful items for those days I feel like throwing on some color
Totally agree! For me neutrals are 100% here to stay! But I definitely need a dopamine boost and some colour in my life again 🥰🌸💕🌷🦋
Hoping for things to be good worthwhile and fulfilling for days wishing you a wonderful new year! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much! You too! It's going to be an amazing year ✨
Subbed, I think we all needed a stylish data nerd. ❤
Oh my gosh this made my heart sing! Thank you!!!

Thanks, I work in the fast fashion retail and I can see how all of that is in the products that we sell
I have been in misery these past years with high-waisted pants. I am THRILLED about low-waisted items. The high waist has never flattered me and I am FINALLY going to have something that does flatter me again!
Aw well Jeannie THIS IS YOUR YEAR BABE! 🥰🥰
I crochet, am a crochet architect and thank you for sharing this ...
One day just one day my work will be featured her. Inshallah 🧡🧡
Beautiful shirts!
The goddess dress is one I would love to purchase.
Right!! I look at the goddess dress less as a trend and more as an iconic piece
Love that Thebe Magugu feature, proud SA moment here. :-)

Nice overview! I do own a pair of platform clogs already - and every time I wear them, I nearly break an ankle. I'd advise against!

My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
your hair is lovely 😍
Aw thank you Valentine! I love your name 🥰
Thanks much
GOOD JOB WELL DONE
🙊🙊 THANK YOU SARAH!
Remember at the end of the day the prime objective for fashion is to sell new items.....so trends do just that, make you buy new things! Don't fall for this 100%...sometimes it is just enough a new belt and styling rather than an entire new wardrobe....I am an experienced fashion designer so I know the tricks of my job!!!!!😉
Thank you..
What a beautiful explanation
Thank you so much Denise that is so kind of you 🥰
Your hair is looking so good
Aw thank you angel!
The commentary and the explanation is wonderful, but could the photos of the actual examples be shown for little longer than just tenth of a second ?
Thank you so much for the feedback Igor! I really appreciate the watch and will be taking this back for my next go at it ☺️
You’re amazing!
YOU'RE AMAZING! ♥️🥰🥰
I think you meant “looking over,” rather than “overlooking” (which means not noticing something).
Calvin Klein leather platform clogs. Not exactly like the futuristic styles you showed. But clogs can totally be cute
Mara I love all of the people in the comments who are standing up for platform clogs! Another person told me about Calou Stockholm shoes and wow... I am thinking I am a convert! I'll check out the Calvin Klein ones too! Aha Next fashion video "How I style my platform clog collection" hahah
👍👍👍
Thanks so much Nataliya!
Love
Thank you Erica xo
I make my own trends. Then I see some of my trends in style. I only wear three colors red, black and white.
This year's fashion is to wear whatever makes you happy and fits your body type. Liberate yourself from being a fashion slave.
I would like it if you could do longer takes on all the images.
Thanks for the feedback Janet! Because the video had so much information I didn't want it to be too long. But with that being said might be nice to make a couple of chapters on this kind of thing that we could go a little more in depth on everything at a slower pace. Something to consider! Thanks for watching :)
thank you
My pleasure!
I will be doing the Aaliyah from y2k but that's it.
I'm with you... :-)
🥰🥰
I don’t like when people call masculine clothes androgynes (I hope I spelled it right)
I think it’s alright for woman to wear masculine things but calling it masculine is more truthful
Androgyny used to be for women who had more masculine physical features or men who had more feminine physical features but it’s only recently that it has transitioned to clothing styles. So you’re right, the right term is masculine clothing.
I'm sorry but I have literally hated every trend since 2020
Haha no offence taken 😂😂
