    You have really broken down the movements like no one else I’ve seen. You must’ve studied Jan Zelezny very carefully

      Growing up Jan Zelezny and Steve Backley were my favorite javelin throwers. Both heavily influenced me. Two different ways of throwing far and worth analyzing 👍🏻

      @@coachhalley Zelezny was another world, but Backley was superb in finesse. Tom Petranoff is on that league of master techinicians.

    Why is the palm of the left hand facing up?

    My teacher said that you have to throw it like a stone ,is it correct

    • @coachhalley
      @coachhalley  2 місяці тому

      If the stone is heavier like 600g-800g, they could be on to something. Because the javelin is also very long, the path your hand takes during the throw is also important. I grew up throwing a lot of rocks so that did teach me how to throw things but a spear is much closer than a rock.

    Whenever , I concentrate much on the non throwing left hand I always feel very big kick to the right hand shoulder resulting to a pain , but if I just throw with much concentration on the angle no pain. Please any advice

      I’d focus more on the right hip separation from the right shoulder. Using the lower body/core more will reduce the strain of the upper body.

    in all of zelezny’s standing drills he puts his block leg down first, the rotates his hip. why would he practice the wring sequence ?

      I wish I could ask him. Maybe he was working on something else and he just had amazing natural timing?

    I’m having trouble going over the top and my javelin keeps tail down and stalling…any tips?

    • @coachhalley
      @coachhalley  Рік тому +1

      Play around with throwing/flying the javelin at practice. Force it to do what you want it to do. If the tail is down, lift the tail above the nose. Play with a high nose dive or even wagging the tail left or right. Have fun with it. The more you learn to control the javelin, the better you’ll be able to adjust when the weather is bad or you’ve made significant changes to your technique.

      I’ve got a couple videos scheduled to talk about the elbow. A javelin lesson with an athlete recovering from injury and a resistance band drill. For now, definitely check with your doc or physical therapist for ways to rehabilitate it. Changing your form is going to be important. Stay tuned…
