I tell them that I never got married for this very reason. I answered to my parents and God only. My parents have passed away so now it's only God. Sometimes talking about it makes it even worse. Just do it. Turn off the phones don't respond to text messages or voice mails so quickly. Don't beg anyone for a relationship unless your married. I was born free and I intend to keep it that way. 58 years old in the same corner of the world, my bedroom, my sanctuary, since I was two. My place of refuge, my security blanket from God's providence. I feel so very blessed.

I don’t think it is if they aren’t at home. Maybe help them to get out on their own if they are at home. Being at home with parents can be really tough.

I agree it's very difficult to say no to our adult children, sometimes their expectations are too high...I wait too long to speak up but when I do I feel better. ❤

Had to set a lot of them with a lot of people. Some are not taking it well. Had to block them entirely. Sucks when it’s a parent.

It is interesting how you used: putting a lock on the door as an example.. I did put a lock on the door and when I was gone they had someone remove the door from the hinges..
To me boundaries are about me being honest with myself about having self-worth.. It is about being there for myself even when the people who cross my boundaries aren't there for me..

People who do not respect themselves do not know to respect others.
Recently read on UA-cam - kids learn what they live.

Who needs to go to a retreat when I've managed to live it on a daily basis. It takes years to get to that point depending on the circumstances.

Family unit, nice but shouldn’t it go with a common understanding of not mistreating the children and intentionally dividing the “unit” and not be malicious towards each other? Shouldn’t it be a clear understanding how sexual misconduct should NEVER be a form of accepted “disciplinary” actions to correct bad behavior? Shouldn’t it be common knowledge that intentional drugging and theft and deceit should never be accepted forms of “love”. Shouldn’t it be? Now that would be nice.
