- Today we blessed a homeless guy who couldn’t get around very well in his wheelchair with a brand new mobility scooter worth $4,600.

Until it breaks down and requires service; happens more often than one imagines.
Mine is 2 years old; control arm replaced once, batteries replaced 3 times, charger replaced 3 times. Service calls are costly, parts are outrageous pricey and batteries are typically about $500 each and most require 2 batteries and because of exposed control arm, can't be used in the rain. It was a very kind gesture but unless the donor also covering future costs, it wasn't realistic.
If the wheelchair use is because of his morbid obesity, donor should have targeted a truly disabled individual.

He clearly can walk, so I’m sure he will keep moving. The chair seems to be for long distances

I have found that pushing backwards in a wheelchair is a lot easier than moving forward using your arms killing the desire to even get out of the house/apartment.
💯 thankfully I only need them for long distances and have been blessed (knock on wood) to have someone with me to push me or the luxury of using a power chair

Bless that man. He's seems so lovely and positive. A warm loving soul this one. It hurts to see how far we have failed these people, letting them slip to the streets... it's hard to get back on your feet I've been there. Thank you to so much for seeing the importance in helping individuals, many don't see the value but I'm glad we do.
Everyone goes through something. Its important to remember there is always someone out there that has it worth than you do, and is still thriving.

Wish I could have that much love and luck using a manual wheelchair is the hardest part in life. Been disabled since losing my right leg to bad health. Maybe One Day My Blessings Will turn around., But y'all just made his day. Give him a whole Day and he will be handled it like a pro.
Oh i know that backwords movement. I use a walker tthat i can sit on. Pushing backwards is the easiest way to move. That power chair is awesome. Made my day seeing his joy.

I used to work for a that was paralyzed from the waist down and he had a really expensive motorized wheelchair that he absolutely hated. He preferred the regular wheelchair because he had to push himself around and it kept him in shape.

@@sandymcdaniel3926I have a friend who gains weight like crazy and has to be very careful while losing weight. Essentially, if he worked out like I do then the calories turn in to sugar. She’s a diabetic and I can’t remember the name of the other illness. She stays on a strict diet to maintain her weight since she really can’t go to the gym or work out. She can’t go hiking with us even though she wants to but will go with us on the easy parts of the trail. She weighs maybe 180lbs and is 5’9 so while she’s overweight, not obese. The difference is when you live a sedentary lifestyle you gain weight differently than active people. She has a lot more build up in her lower stomach and hips than anywhere else similar to this man. People have called her lazy, a slob, and all sorts of names. Luckily, she’s always had family or friends supporting her so even when she was constantly in and out of the hospital and lost her jobs she never went homeless. Luckily she has always had medical coverage. Luckily, she’s not to the point of being wheelchair bound.
You have no idea what this man has gone through or what his story is. You can only speculate from that high pedestal you put yourself on. People who have disabilities are not lazy. Society just tries to pin them as such to justify the incredible flaws in our health care system. This man always tries to take care of himself the best he can. Not everyone has someone the can call when they need a hand and it’s ignorant to think so. It’s also ignorant to not see the beauty in gaining mobility since you can’t backwards push yourself up everything.

Now we just need to get him a solar charger and they charge control so he'll never have to plug in again
How will he charge it?
He stays in hotels 2 weeks out of the month. We’re working to get him a place too 🙏❤️
