I think it could be better if you heard all the lyrics or read it and then try to understand many ways to get the song. If you stop everytime you don´t understand a part of the song you don´t get everything, they are not separated, even the album, all the songs are made to hear together, not just one, to fully feel the album. They made diferent concepts and even own styles for every album. He´s talking in the song BTW, about effort to become invincible, "now invincible, the armor wearing thin" cause you don´t need a heavy armor, this means about being vulnerable when with other person, or people, you wil never get stronger in terms of self steem, Tool band is about being feminine energy but with strong masculine energy, then A perfect Circle is quite the opossite. Is not masculinity instead of having feelings, and empathy, etc, and be strong, or brave. Leonardo Da Vinci also talked about this in his writtings and in his most valued painting, that is the mix of a woman and a man, The Monalisa painting, meaning that people need to accept all parts of his persona to grow as a person. Tool also says in this song that being warrior is not fighting all the time with others instead of stop figthing you and becoming what you want to be. That´s a warrior, a person who protects other because he does know how is suffering, and how others feel. Basically is the backend of the song. NOTE: if you don´t ever show your vulnerabilities you will never get stronger, it is specially for men that they don´t have anyone to show their weakneses when they are feeling bad, so is the main reason they get distorted their face with abrupt muscles being tense in the face or the body (so it makes you feel ugly, is a scar is not to be ugly but it can look for mostly everyone like this, i don´t think that but animals don´t respect fragile)
This song is about getting older but remaining proud of who you are, of the battles you've won (and humbled by the ones you've lost), and where you came from...never forgetting where you came from. Love how you feel the song with your whole being. Props brutha. Keep on keeping on. Liked, sub'd.
Man, is not trully about getting older, to be older does not mean anything. Can be a number, a mental state, or whatever. They mean experience, not old, 80 year old person average does not mean anything, even a child can be more mature than an older person. Old is a stupid concept to separate states of the persona growth. But it cannot be counted or talked like it exists in real life. And for the other stuff you say, is ok, i agree. I just needed to correct something that sorry not only you, but mostly society are getting wrong.
i always picture the old viking in the tv show Vikings... He couldnt die in battle, all his friends had, but he couldnt. He just wanted to be relevant, he would pull his sword, have his big belly sucked in, ready to fight... but his shield was so heavy to carry... Todays veterans still want to fight... but its hard to
Same. A couple of main characters on Black Sails fit the bill. I'm hitting Vikings next! But if you've never checked out Anthony Hopkins in "Titus" it's a wild ride. He wants to retire, but...
Yup. Being fed through the meat grinder for 2 decades and then expecting us not to be broken is a big middle finger from our government. But I don't regret anything and will continue to fight for the principles of this country until my last breath.
I am absolutely positive that everything I will say has already been said buuuuuut I’m still going to say it. This album came out after like 5,732 years of Tool not releasing an album. So the theme is all about how long it has been, the struggle to be who they once were without ignoring who they have become. They are much older now but this is not just nostalgic reverie, they can still march. Singer’s weapon is his voice, just another instrument to tell the story with. Their songs have ever been incredibly deep commentary on humanity and ills our society thrive on but hide. Also some fun stuff. They have been “silent” on recent events and it is a little tough to get the wonderful perspective they offer into the average wack conversation.

Thank you, brother! Love hearing people listen to my favorite band for the first time. You make me fall for them all over again. I really appreciate you.
You're talking about the "Octopus." The Kraken. Danny Carey. First time here and going through your Tool catalog now. Right in Two is unreal. Danny goes Tabla all over his kit. Spiral out, bruh.
This song is whatever you interpret it as. I'm a retired Marine. My perspective is completely different. Maynard has said that their lyrics are ambiguous and open to interpretation.
I love your energy bro. I'm here for that and Tool. My advice is to have the lyrics pulled up on the side so you can reference back during your pause periods. Peace!
The reference to Ponce de Leon could be about adrenachrome. Tears from children could reference the " Fountain of youth " I have to hear this every morning before work.
This and Crawl Away are my fave TOOL songs.....well I say that but it's almost impossible to have a favorite TOOL song, as all of them are incredible experinces.....not just songs. This one hits me though, and I cried the 1st time I heard it, it just pulled me in that hard. That's rare for me.
lyric video is ok, DO NOT watch official music videos on first watch, i dont care about stops to comment as long as you back up when you restart.....my opinions of course +}
they haven't released anything for many many year's and I think the whole song is about being no replaceable by anyone. And I confirm. What Tool does, no one can.

Maynard has never used autotune, it's an effect he uses on his voice, but he's actually hitting those notes.
When you go down the tool wormhole, it will change your life forever. 🤘🏼
You are experiencing the greatest band to ever exist

Long in tooth and soul
Longing for another win
Lurch into the fray
Weapon out and belly in
Warrior
Strugglin'
To remain
Consequential
Bellow out loud
Bold and proud
Of where I've been
But here I am
Beating chest and drums
Beating tired bones again
Age-old battle, mine
Weapon out and belly in
Tales told of battles won
Of things we've done
Caligula would grin
Beating tired bones
Tripping through remember when
Once invincible
Now the armor's wearing thin
Heavy shield down
Warrior
Strugglin'
To remain
Relevant
Warrior
Strugglin'
To remain
Consequential
Cry aloud, bold and proud
O' where I've been
But here I am
Where I end
Warrior
Strugglin'
To remain
Relevant
Warrior
Strugglin'
To remain
Consequential
Tears in my eyes, chasing Ponce de Leon's phantom soul
Filled with hope, I can taste mythical fountains
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting, feeling time bearing down
Tears in my eyes chasing Ponce de Leon's phantom soul
Filled with hope, I can taste mythical fountains
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting, feeling time bearing down
False hope perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting, feeling time bearing down
Bearing down
Thanks for the whole verse

The songs about them buddy. It's about them putting out an album after 20 years and trying to live up to their past expectations.
