- Which Duchess takes the tiara for most stylish? Today's Fashion Edition compares Remembrance Day Fashions from Meghan the Duchess of Sussex and Catherine the Princess of Wales (aka Princess Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge at the time of some of these outfits.) Though the weekend calls for more subdued fashions, mourning colors & less flashy, more black, fashions; That's not to say these frocks are boring, in fact just the opposite. We have some of the most fabulous hats, gorgeous tributes & (mostly) elegant outfits.
Let's take a look at each of these ladies' 1st Remembrance Day weekend, and their 2nd to see who was the most stylish. We're also ranking Catherine's gorgeous looks across all her Remembrance Day weekends. Which is your favorite? Be sure to leave it in the comments.

Gotta say the net Catherine wore at the Queen’s funeral was the best, the flat dish one. She looked like a 1940’s vamp. I know it wasn’t her intention but she looked sexy af. And the closeup of her in the car and the closeup of her looking straight into the camera with that powerful look on her face were FIRE.

correct..it takes a humility to know and accept that there are actual experts on these things..additionally, Catherine’s body type helps a lot..
meghan’s body type (NOTHING WRONG WITH IT,we’re all built different) needs other considerations and it sure would help tremendously if she just got a stylist and listen to them and follow their advice..

I believe Catherine has inherited her Mother's sense of style, some women have it in buckets and others are swayed by expensive Coutourier's designs and are without a clue but think they know everything.Their choices are typically Nouveau Riche.

Meghan uses designer brands and expensive clothes as a facade of importance. She won't or can't prove her significance through her actions because she doesn't have a service heart so she has to wear things that make her seem important without putting in the work. This is why Flawless Catherine does the opposite, she wears reasonably priced clothes, even rewears outfits, because she knows she has nothing to prove, her actions speak for themselves.

It’s true - Catherine has nothing to prove. She does her job and does it well, and she is fully committed to her husband and family. Meg still struggles to find “relevance”; she has no role, apart from being Harry’s wife, but that’s not good enough for her.
I must say, Catharine in mourning attire looks like a lady from the ‘40s, very glamorous.

Yes MM was obsessed with showing her shoulders after she was surely told this was inappropriate in these settings. She fancied herself to be a STRONG INDEPENDENT woman by intentionally ignoring etiquette. Instead she just showed herself to be rude and self-centered.
Yes! Nothing says strong and independent like an out of work actress marrying a famous man for his wealth and social position.
I've read headlines that the over the shoulder marshmallow outfit was the new power suit. Lawyer, Erin Broclavich, in the media was called a powerful feminist for showing her boobs and miniskirts in court. Warped sense of womens power.
My husband said "She looks like she's going to a Christmas party in every picture" - instead of Vetran's day. Megan really thought being in the Royal family would be like a movie premire catwalk starring her everyday.
Yes I think she did. Princess Anne - that most savvy and hard working royal - apparently told Meghan before her marriage that being a royal was “just a job - you turn up and you do the work” but Meg didn’t want to hear it.

they look so much longer than the Queen's 3 strand pearls. I do believe that Catherine has some of her pearls but not sure those are the ones the Queen was wearing in the photos

The Queen was buried with her pearls, her father gave her a pearl necklace for her birthday, her father added a pearl every year for her birthday, then her husband added a pearl for her birthday, so the 3 strand one was buried with her, but I'm sure she had several others that would have been bequeathed

Her favorite three-strand pearl necklace, a gift from her beloved father, King George VI, was given to Princess Anne. HMTQ had 2 similar pearl necklaces, one of which is said to have been given to Catherine.

Meghan is an amateur. Catherine is a pro. An amateur keeps doing things until she gets it right. A pro will do it until she can't get it wrong.
Meh is a hack. She thinks that she can fake it till she makes it. Not going to happen. Many people see through her shtick. The internets are forever. She won't go down in history as a great person no matter how many awards she buys, censorships she pushes, and expensive outfits she wears. That award will go to Catherine princess of Wales. Bestowed upon her by the people. She has learned a lot in her royal life. Beautiful to look at her evolution. My favorite look is the sleek black simple coat with the asymmetrical front panel.

Kate wearing the Queen's pearls choked me up and I'm American. The way she made sure they were the focal point shows her respect for the Queen and her understanding of fashion.
The famous three-strand necklace that The Queen wore almost daily went to Princess Anne, but the strands that Catherine wears also belonged to The Queen. The necklace that Princess Anne received is a bit shorter.
I believe there are three separate pearl necklaces that The Queen owned, but I don't know where the third set is.
The necklace she wore had smaller pearls and was longer. Clearly not the Queen’s pearls she wore daily.

I didn’t hate it on her but it was not hemmed appropriately (too long) and not tailored well on top.

The Rule was never to wear the same colour as Her Late Majesty at an event, and the recommendation was to try and not wear the same colour as another member of the family at an event. Obviously it wasn’t a rule, I actually loved that Catherine and Sophie worn the exact same coat, they obviously loved it, it looked great on both of them, and they didn’t feel the need to outshine or “one up” the other! And of course for things like posed photographs for Prince Louis christening where they all wore shades of blues and white, except for The Meg , who had to ruin things by coming in khaki green.

Princess Catherine has always knocked it out of the park on Rememberance Day. I look forward to her outfit every year. Sophie's hat this year was also fabulous. I also look forward to her outfits at Trooping the Color and Ascot, and any fun garden parties. I love her in a hat, she is stunning! And her demeanor is so touching, so appropriate. ❤

Remembrance Day isn’t a day to fool around with. I organize Remembrance Day ceremonies at my school where I teach. I would loose it, anybody attended making it about themselves and using it for selfish reasons is selfish and gross.
I usually like Catherine in smaller cocktail-style hats but for funerals and Remembrance Day I prefer her larger hats definitely.
Meghan's shoulders being exposed at the church service does look really rude which made me notice how much skin the slingbacks reveal - half-bare feet - making it even worse. I do like these shoes but are they a church, or even a November, look?
The one MM wore with the BIG bow kinda looked like a bathrobe. The shoulder cape thing is just something she goes to again and again. She evidently likes the style.
You could really see the pain in the eyes of King Charles, Queen Camilla, William and Catherine in the 2022 pictures. Real grief is really visible.

I really like that veiled fascinator Meghan wore. It’s almost more annoying when she makes a good choice but then messes it up somewhere else in the outfit lol.
Also I LOVE that Catherine has the Queen’s pearls. Since QE2 wore them so much it feels more like something a grandmother would pass down to a beloved granddaughter, as opposed to a monarch passing on her jewelry to another future queen.
In my opinion the most beautiful thing of this video is your compassion and you're so understanding and affectionate for this family.
When my grandmother died as our matriarch, the whole family broke apart.
It is hard to adapt to this new situation and I think the Royal family handle this impressive.
But they are humans too, and I think they're grieving still the loss of the Queen and Prince Phillip.
When our family lost our matriarch ( my grandmother) felt as though we lost aunts uncles cousins and their children as well. Our family broke apart. Each family started doing their own family traditions for holidays . The matriarch held our family together, she was the common denominator. Now with new younger generation my mother is family matriarch…… my brother and I have discussed this at lengths EVERYTHING FOR US , OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN WILL REMAIN THE SAME.
Gosh, I LOVE that Catherine Walker coat Catherine wore this year. She always looks so good in coats that nod to military styling. Camilla’s looked nice, as well, and she does rock a big hat.
Meghan just always getting it wrong… Not only were the belts more in fashion in the 80s, but Diana was taller with a more proportionate body, so the belts didn’t swallow her torso.
We can see the evidence of Catherine taking advice onboard as her style and confidence have have grown over the years. Honestly, Kate can definitely rock a big hat. Her features are strong enough, and her stature elegant enough, to not be diminished.

Another fact: the hat which Catherine has worn a couple of times for the cenotaph wreath ceremony (including this year) was actually first seen on her when she was just William’s girlfriend. She wore it to his officer passing out ceremony at Sandhurst
I bet that William wakes up everyday and thanks god (or whoever he thanks) that he had the good sense to choose Catherine as his wife. When they’re together I always feel like that’s what his facial expression is giving. Like he adores her which I love to see. His face gives happy golden retriever puppy to me. It’s cute and she’s gorgeous of course.

Big hat, small hat, no hat, Princess Catherine always looks wonderful. My favourite big hat on her was the one she wore with the asymmetrical coat. My favourite small hat is the one she wore to Prince Philip's funeral. I bawled quite a bit at the end when you gave that touching tribute to the family and their grief. Thank you. We do still miss Her Majesty the Queen terribly. She was such a steady hand at the helm for such a long time. Thank you so much for your sensitivity❤🇬🇧
Hello Beebs, I can’t imagine how long it took you to put all this fascinating footage together. I think my fave Catherine coat is the one she wore again this year. She always looks so polished no matter what the occasion. I am sure Catherine has listened and adhered to protocol and fashion advice over the years and she really knows what suits her now and what plays to her strengths. I cannot wait to see your review of the DoS latest outing in the beige ensemble.

@@BeebsKelley In an attempt to clear up Meghan's height issue...she was recently papped at lunch wearing shorts, black top and a poppy with her friend Kelly McKee Zajfen. They are both wearing flats. Kelly McKee Zajfen is confirmed to be 5'7" and if you Google the pics you will clearly see that Meghan is several inches shorter than her. I stand by my assertion that Meghan is around 5'3" or less.
Because you are short, does not stop you looking smart. My mother and younger sister always beautifully dressed they were About ut 5' 2" tall, even when they were older and everything was heading south, they always looked right.I do miss them both they always kept me on track.
Beebs, this was a lovely video, and it ended on such a genuine caring tone. The Royal Family has endured so much since 2018, particularly in the last three years. And they have done so with grace. HRH The Princess of Wales has matured beautifully, not least because she appears to be an intelligent, thoughtful woman, a good mother and spouse. We all feel the loss of the grace, integrity, and humour that was HM Queen Elizabeth II. HRH The Princess of Wales does well in following on from HM Queen Elizabeth.
The less said of the failed American actress, the better.

Re: the leaf brooch earrings -- they are actually part of a set with the brooch. I found a couple of photos online of the late queen wearing the earrings with the brooch on one occasion. I believe she received the set from the government of South Korea in 1999, when she was there over her birthday. She gave Catherine the brooch on a lifetime loan several years ago, and I'm assuming the earrings, as well, but Catherine never wore them before Remembrance Sunday.
Catherine takes advice and has chosen to learn and work with her strengths. My Interest in the Royal family started with my appreciation for her sense of style! I also prefer her in smaller hats.
Dear Beebs, I think I must be close to becoming your number one fan. I love the way you explain why fashion looks and makeup do and do not work which negates any thoughts that you are supporting or criticising one woman over the other. But I couldn’t help laughing at your comments and the photos of The Meg’s massive strides - including straight through puddles. I believe The Meg’s fashion faux pas are very much accentuated by her smugness.
I also wish The Royal Family some peace and calmness in the coming year and that Harry and Megan would just go away.

Catherine understands that *you* wear the clothes, the clothes *should not* wear you. That's exactly what M looks like: the clothes are wearing her. Even now, she doesn't have her clothes tailored. Catherine knows the art of subtle understatement, while M seems to be "the more the better". But I think the *biggest* difference is having a professional help you. M has infamously refused any help, and it shows. PS: I love Catherine in any hat because she does a good job choosing what's appropriate for her outfit and the occasion, though I don't care for the ones with turned down brims on her; they seem to pull her face down.
I think for Meghan it's, "The more EXPENSIVE, the better."
I personally think TW doesn't fit clothes better, is so she can sell it after 🤷♀️

Catherine can carry off absolutely any style she clearly likes to experiment and its great that she rewears her clothes and sometimes it looks like its a new outfit but its not just dufferent accessories, she gets it right everytime an absolute stunner. Its been a long time since we had someone as stylish as her in the royal family long may she reign.
The wider brimmed hats make Kate look more mature, elegant, and chic, while the fascinators make her look trendy and cool. I like when she goes between these two poles.

The queen had three sets of three strand pearls she wore throughout her reign: the shorter length given to her by her father, the longer length given by her grandfather, and the choker with center gem she had made by Gerrard. As of yet, the shorter have not been worn since her death. The earrings Catherine is wearing are from the same demi-parure of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond and Pearl Leaf brooch. There are pictures of the queen wearing them in The Jewels of Queen Elizabeth II by Leslie Field. Love your work… agree on Meg’s disheveled looks!!

@@hiddlespearean In her defense just about every site says the earrings are made from the brooch. I wish I could put a picture here. There’s only one as she only wore the full set once, with a yellow evening gown at a state event. You can tell I’m a royal jewels girl. But if Catherine wears the Lover’s Knot tiara one more time I’ll scream. Time to change it up! Can’t wait to see her in my fave, Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara.🤗

I read in the book "Queen" by Matthew Dennison that when HMQE11 and Princess Margaret were children that their father gave them 2 pearls at special events and birthdays from him. They first had single strand made from them as young girls then added to the strands as they had more. I think Queen Mary, their grandmother also added to their collection from her personal jewels that she was famous for. Interesting tidbit into their lives as children and teens. Love that you honor Remembrance Day. Well done

Spy vs Spy! I remember that well!
As an artist the color black has undertones depending on how it’s mixed via dyes. Blue, yellow, red can be seen as undertones when you try to pair many blacks together from different sources. It is why if I buy a black suit jacket, I will buy the matching pants and skirt at the same time so the blacks do not clash. If I wear a black coat, I will take it into natural light to see if the undertones differ and even will flash photo the outfit with it to check. Because then it could come off as blue-black, yellow-black or red-black. 🤷♀ Fabric textures can also make the color look different due to how light hits it. White is also a problem because of so many variations. But this is just my opinions. 🤷♀

Aaaahhhh....Beebs, you're killing me! How can one possibly choose a "best" Catherine look when the woman ALWAYS looks stunningly flawless?! But because you have asked (and I adore you 🥰) I'm going to go with Catherine's 2018 outfit with the white collar (although the jacket with the fringe was also STUnning!). It was just so appropriate for the day, elegant, nothing flashy....just sheer class. Regarding hats...although pretty much everything suits Catherine, I'm with you Beebs, I prefer her in the smaller hats or fascinators as the bigger head pieces hide her beautiful face. Love our Princess of Wales 💜💜💜
If you are going to wear a bow, you should have it done very crisp, straight and presentable. Evidently Megan never learned this. I used to wear a lot of belts on my dresses, shirts, etc. My mother always made sure my bows were perfect. I also do this to everyone I know. If it is not correct, I will straighten it and it drives all my family and friends crazy.

Nutmeg always puts far too much highlighter on , especially her nose which makes her look like a shiny 🤡 Because she refuses to take advice she will continue to wear things that look a dressing gown (grandpa's ?) Everything is too big for her,shoes,coats and the latest .... dresses. She could also learn from PC how to style her hair especially when wearing a hat but she won't.
Also for the love of all things could she just stop with the clutching her husband constantly?
Catherine is always appropriately polished and dressed for the occasion and has continued to perfect her role as time as gone on. She's goals on so many levels .
Thank you Beebs for addressing M’s blush placement. When I first saw that picture, I thought she had some allergies (or rosacea flare up), and her foundation couldn’t cover it up.

Many of those older brooches from the royal collection , are actually designed so that they can be turned temporarily into earrings and a pendant or into two brooches to be clipped to either end of a square neckline or a sweetheart neckline

And honestly, I feel such disgust when I look at Meghan and see her complete lack of respect for the Royal Family, that truthfully, I just can’t give an unbiased opinion on her hats. That Poop hat really said it all!

I've found some people just don't like short hair so if someone's hair is short or short looking they don't like it. Katherine has a lovely shaped face and I bet can wear her hair any length she wants.
The Princess of Wales outfit of 22 is my third favorite. The big hat is so elegant. She looks gorgeous. My second favorite outfit is the coat dress by Alexander MacQueen. A perfection. My fist favorite is the military coat. Stunning, elegant. The absolute perfection.
Actually the hat Catherine wore this year was first seen on her in 2006. It was in a Sandhurst ceremony with her parents I think
It was Williams passing out parade and Catherine and her family were there as well as the royals.
The black hat I love on Catherine is the one she wore for Prince Phillip's funeral.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, can pull off all the hats big and small, but my personal preferences tend towards the fascinators. (Actually, I hold the seemingly very unpopular opinion of liking those faux-headband things I can never remember the name of. . .)
In regards to Meghan: they say black is a very slimming color, but I found all her black outfits made her look shorter and much wider than she is. I don't get it at all.
That was my thoughts too! I wondered if it was that she repeatedly chose very very bulky fabrics?

Those earrings Princess of Wales wore, the ones that looked like crowns that she wore to the last Remembrance Day, were the late Queen’s. She didn’t wear them often but they looked fabulous on Princess of Wales.
I don't think any of Nutmeg's outfits or hats did her any favors!
The earrings are from the set “demiparure” that contains the brooch and earrings. There are photos of the Queen wearing the earrings.

Thanks for this video, I really enjoyed it, for me Megan's first participation in the Remembrance events was my first culture clash, "something's wrong, what's wrong? Ohh Harry NEEDS to talk to her" moment, the dress she was wearing was utterly inappropriate the Festival of Remembrance is in essence a funeral / memorial service, being peculiarly British this means there is music to rouse the spirit and break your heart, pomp & ceremony to make you feel that it's all worth it in the end and humour because if you can't have a laugh, what's the point? (the year of the musical plumbing was hilarious) and here is The Meg when we were all still welcoming her with open arms in a sleeveless deep V necked dress in NOVEMBER!! I don't know what the weather in California is in November but in London it is 'Orible! there are over 5000 seats in the Albert Hall and not another bare set of arms or shoulders in the place, sorry to be prudish, but we don't do that at funerals / memorials!
However, having something of a poetic sense of justice TBH here in 2023 after all their shenanigans over the past few years I'm glad The Meg wore the boatneck dress to Westminster Abbey, because BOY would she have paid for it, nothing does draughts quite like a medieval abbey in November, she must have been absolutely frozen by the time she got home, appropriateness is not the only reason why Catherine is always wrapped up when she goes there (and I bet there were some substantial foundation garments under the coat as well!)

sorry, off topic, but......that beige dress that Megs wore at the Variety gala? Someone pointed out that they think it's a bateau/ boat neck dress, but Megs just yanked it off one shoulder. That explains all those puffy bloobs and wrinkles in the front and back, and the funny lengths of the panels. There's a seam that goes up the "middle" of the front.....it curves toward the off shoulder side. Ps panty lines!!

I think I prefer the smaller hats and, yes, love the veil where it’s appropriate. I’m nit a big fan of fascinators but there are some that work. I think the Rememberance Day observations would have been difficult . It was such an important occasion for the queen an they’d also unveiled those exquisite statues . It must be hard knowing the demonic duo are always at woek to bring them down and yet they all looked and acted so well. It’s the ‘over the pond’ one that always gets it wrong. 🙏🙏🇦🇺👵

I 100% agree with you. Catherine always looks beautiful and well-styled, even when she wears something that’s not my favorite look. I love her in the smaller fascinators as opposed to the larger hats, although that enormous green one she wore for Trouping this year was amazing and she looked gorgeous in it! Beebs, I love love love your channel! I love that you can be completely team Catherine but still talk with grace about the mess that is The Meg.
To be honest Beebs, Catherine's coat is for warmth, it needs to be plain and somber for the austere occasion, and I think it fits the occasion.
