When I was in 8th grade I used to think 9 volt batteries contained fluorine, because only fluorine could give such a high oxidation potential! It didn't occur to me that 9 volt batteries had multiple cells.
Dude electrolysis is supposed to breakdown the compound into individual components. If its an electrolysis of NaCl we should be getting individual Na and Cl particles but we've ultimately just broken down HCl (under acidic conditions) and water (under basic conditions). We didn't separate the NaCl components

Or do we need to completely electrolyze all the NaCl to yield NaOH. Similar question H2O2, how do we extract and keep it from reverse reacting back ot H2O and O2? Just keep it really cold but not freeze H2O?
But H+ doesn’t exist independently in solution. It’s H3O+ that exists which gets reduced. I don’t know why textbooks always include H+ when it doesn’t exist spectroscopic studies have proven its H3O+. Appreciate the way you explained oxidation half though.

Then thought may be there would oxigen which are interfacing with cl may be !! But after watching your video i knew probability will be very low for oxigen ! But m not sure plz tell me what is wrong with mine setup ? I used near 600ml watef and 3 or 4 "suger spoon" of nacl table salt ! And i also added h2so4 will it help to produce hcl ?
reacting gases directly under a saturated fiberglass tent(small volume!), or sum saturated substrate that wont react with HCl might work. careful, gasses will react with light to recombine and explode as electrolyzed H & O reacts with spark to recombine to water with extreme heat; they(water electrolysis cells) have been made into torches that can cut firebrick and weld steel but curiously won't heat water itself, so you can't burn your skin which is mostly water. but HHO gas can explode and f up your world if you try to store any substantial quantity and H & Cl only need light radiation to recombine and the energy of recombination is even stronger if i remember correctly; H & O need at least a sparc of 12mJ to recombine. note that there were experimental rocket engines using HCl and the energy of recombination produced blasts of mac 7 supposedly.
Thane has a product that electrolyses salt water to produce HClO and also NAOH, I dont' believe that your video accounts for the production of sodium hydroxide, so how does their product cause this reaction ? Maybe one electrode is a special catalyst?

OK, not quite correct as to likely mechanics (which not addressed in summary electrolysis presentation. Now, H+ (from water leaving alkaline OH--)+ e- = . H (the hydrogen radical anion). The latter can self react: .H + .H -> H2 or, to a lesser extent, react with O2 (also produced in an over potential electrolysis of water) as follows: . H + O2 -> .HO2 but at pH over 4.88 exists as H+ + .O2- (the so-called superoxide radical anion). Bottomline, no H2O2 which could otherwise be created in the albeit slow reaction .HO2 + .HO2 -> H2O2 + O2. Also, no H2O2 in the presence of NaOCl or HOCl (from Cl2 formation of aqueous NaCl electrolysis) from the fast reaction H2O2 + HOCl -> H2O + HCl + O2.
Am I understanding correctly that the acidic and neutral solutions become more basic as NaOH is produced? Does this mean a neutral solution will in the beginning produce Cl2 but after a while produce more O2?
