Bro i wana ask something i have a new bike ktm rc200 Im having a noise from chain sprocket... In low gears Like mettalic noise ..... What could possibly be the problem?? The bike is 1800km run only. No chance for chain to be replaced its new actually.... Should i change the front sprocket ???
Hi Nick. My bike is 3 years old and 22,000 kms on the ODO. I have taken very good care of the chain since the beginning and it lasted me till 21,000 kms. I recently changed my chain sprocket kit (which is 14 front-42 rear) for 2000 rs from Roll on company. I understand what you are saying about the sound. 3 possibilities here: 1. Chain is loose and you will get a slapping sound on the chain slider on lower gears. 2. As the chain is new it will expand while riding and contract in cold weather until it reaches its MAX expansion capacity. 3. Chain lube is less or chain alignment is slightly offset ( you can check this by looking at the chain from rear sprocket towards front spkt to see if it is in straight line.) You do not need to change front sprocket as there is nothing wrong with it. Also, they sell it as a set you will not get separate front or rear sprocket unless you can get an old one from garage. This is never advisable as the front and rear teeth need to wear out evenly and changing either sprocket is a recipe for disaster. What you can do right now is check alignment and tighten your chain with 5-7mm gap from swing arm when lifted. Next clean your chain with diesel/chain cleaner and put chain spray. Never over lube your chain. It will just fly over your rims, side stand and shoes. Hope this helps.
