Hey off topic a bit however and yes I know the X-ray machine came out this time love it been awhile since I've seen a video that the X-ray machine came out.
However one time somebody actually that worked in the medical tech industry got me a little something special is that either to destroy for parts or just to keep in one piece show how something works or something you don't see everyday Electronics wise and yes x-ray machine is a hint a dead x-ray tube that's one thing that somewhere I do still have in storage it's not every day that somebody is saving a defective x-ray tube for someone that was sort of really cool it was boxed up like a big gift he thought I'd really enjoy something like that and boy was he right.
And also I had gotten a couple of broken lamps with the big tungsten electrodes I'm not sure which lamps they were from however it was suggested that I used these for either something requiring high temperature or even just something needing a sharp edge kept doing it and yes they did eventually get used and yes I knew had someone that had a Machinery that was equipped with diamond cutters at that time did not have the ability to use a diamond cutting wheel on a drummer however still have some of those custom tools made from tungsten electrodes and no not thoriated tungsten either I know someone would have said something about this otherwise.
I've got some pretty cool stuff over the years mostly for Salvage.
Still have some switches and stuff laying around from Avionics.
Somewhere I do actually have a couple Apollo era switches I think I have a box of stuff like this somewhere it was given as a gift it was actually new in box stuff I did inventory to see what was there but it's been so long since I've taken a look the idea is sometime when I do a really special project that becomes part of it and yes switches in indicators in illuminated switches as well and a few other gizmos and gadgets in there from the time period I don't know where the person worked where I got them from but he was something in the tech field and he said these were not Surplus but was from something that was being designed by him that was canceled before anything was went to producing the first round of the so basically New Old Stock essentially but still never used so wedding to use this stuff in something very special

When I was a teenager 40 years ago all the road lamps in my area were light green swan neck Revo Lodestars with a single 100w bulb in the unshielded reflector. One Christmas me and a friend decided this looked boring so we nicked about 20 different coloured bulbs from a big Christmas Fur tree and put them all in the lamps in the area. It was darker but the lighting effect from a nearby hill was really nice. The locals thought the council had done it and rang them up and complained when they were removed.

But the colors are absolutely stunning! These are what we've been waiting for, I hope they catch on enough to stick around, and end up on U.S. shelves, even U.L. listed! Flickering led's always leave like tracers if I move my eyes quickly, I've noticed them a lot as brake lights on cars. Those look great and I didn't see any flicker with the whole string till you moved the red one. The 5v ones could be handy for USB or battery projects.

There's a really distracting LED matrix sign by the M27E/M3N link road at the moment which produces the standard orange colour by alternating red and green so not only do you see multiple copies of the message as your eyes flick around to maintain all-round situational awareness, you see them in red and green which is far more attention-grabbing than just one colour.

Nice in that there's far less to fail on these, but oof, that flicker. I'm particularly prone to seeing flicker - the first few generations of DSP projectors gave me migraines to watch due to the refresh rate - so hopefully smoothed ones aren't going away. I guess a custom base that does rectification and smoothing and presents these with smoothed DC could work, assuming the extra diode drop doesn't dim them too much...

Equally as important as the construction of the 'filament' is whether these bulbs can be used outdoors or in humid environments.
Traditional filament bulbs were, by design, hermetically sealed.
    LED bulbs almost never are.
I cured LED bulbs going out in my bathroom by filling all material joins with a thin waterproof glue. It would be worthwhile people knowing whether that would benefit these (and put pressure on manufacturers to make their bulbs weather-proof).

I like the simplicity, although as you say, while good for a decorative lamp, you wouldn't want it scaled up for task lighting without something also on-board to flatten out that flicker. I recall a job a good few years ago where early Screwfix-special LED lamps were used as downlights and you could see the 50Hz just by waving your hand under them. It was a headache waiting to happen and aggravated my hangover something rotten. Nonetheless, this does feel like a natural evolution for the LED filament-effect lamp.

Like you I thought there was a resistor in the base, (as I intended to use one as a fix for a battery powered micro-led filiment on something else), but it couldn't give it enough to overcome the resistors/chips in series. So I dissected it under my bench light w/ magnifying glass to find some extremely tiny circuitry; though the colors on yours are much nicer.

The flicker, idk man, i would notice within minutes and go buy new bulbs whenever i want to take a walk to the store, which would be rather soon. I know because this actually happened.

The PINK is essential - the problem with modern led Xmas lights is they just have the 4 colours and forget that original Christmas lights always had a pink .

Blue though, why do they always add blue that is not a Christmas colour. It's the colour of being blinded on your nighttime commute.

Judging by your spelling of "colour," this probably won't help you much, but I'll leave this here for US viewers:
Tru-Tone is a US-based company that sells LED filament bulbs in C5 and C7 varieties, in glass envelopes, and they are almost indistinguishable from their vintage incandescent counterparts. They do offer pink bulbs in their product lineup, and they sell bulbs, empty strings, or strings with the bulbs depending on your needs. The strings are well-built, with cloth-wrapped wire and bakelite-looking plugs/sockets for that genuine vintage aesthetic. (UL Listed, of course.) Even their website and packaging has that retro look, which I find rather charming.
I suppose you could order a set and use a step-down transformer for use in other countries with higher line voltage, so that's an option, but honestly I don't know if they ship overseas or not.
I have a set, and they're really nice. You can practically feel the quality as you handle them. Sure, they cost a bit more than your cheap-tat-from-China, but it's worth the extra money because they are well-built. They're not a sponsor of my channel, I'm not getting any financial compensation, this is my honest opinion of their products.

@@marcforrester7738 agreed - blue LED needs some refinement - the retina burning neon blue is too intense - I think it would be better to have a white bulb with a blue painted shade maybe 🤔

Why am I watching this? Because in the 70's LED's were new and expensive. I kept losing every argument predicting their eventual widespread use. Colored lights are so popular in Asia that this race to the bottom in cost is herby pretty much exhausted.

I like the idea of colour filaments. I have some bulbs with colour filamets inside clear bulbs from Paulmann. They look very nice. I guess these use a capacitive dropper.
I also hase some other bulbs that use white filamets inside colour painted glass and I don't like that. It's kinda lazy.

The TruTone LED bulbs appear to be constructed similarly (but not identically). No circuitry in the base, and at least some of the filaments are flexible. The circuitry appears to be slightly different, but I hadn't gotten a good look (got a sample from a friend who accidentally x-rayed theirs).

I've wanted to get some of those TruTone blubs ever since I saw them on Technology Connections a couple years ago but I don't really want to spend 100 bucks on bulbs and probably another 50 on the strings of bulb holders. Plus I really like the looks of the Philips C9 LED lights I've used for many years now.

These are nice. They flicker but the circuit board looks clean.
And about the LEDs it is interesting that back in the days when LED technology was new, it was hard to make blue ones. Now they use blue LEDs pretty much in every LED light but they just cover it with phosphor to change the color if I understand it correctly.
