Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter is an innovative, cross-genre destroyer simulation which truthfully depicts the struggle of escort groups protecting allied convoys against German U-boats during the Battle of the Atlantic. Take full control of a Fletcher-class destroyer, using authentic instruments and attack procedures to fully experience the full spectrum of anti-submarine warfare.
Destroyer combines the thrill of commanding an anti-submarine warship with the tactical challenge of managing a whole escort group protecting convoys against relentless wolfpacks. The game goes to great lengths to appeal to fans of realism and immersion, at the same time offering a great experience for beginners in the genre as well.
Whether a military sim veteran or a fledgling captain, immerse yourself in a cinematic naval warfare experience and feel the thrill of the hunt!
Imagine being submarine Charlie and getting patern after patern thrown at you from 2 destroyers above you. Nice work.
Sounds like some of his SH3 videos. XD
technically, Antler is a frigate not a destroyer
It probably doesn't make much difference when you're on the receiving end of a depth charge attack
I'd be shitting my pants and crying lmao
Man you make this look easy. I really enjoy how you narrate and make a story out of all you do.
man was a navy captain in a past life fr
It would be really cool if they would put the flower class corvette in this game as a playable ship. The limitations of the slower speed and size would be interesting to play with.
Yes despite the big speed difference the Flower Class would have had had a much better turning radius than a Fletch so would be interesting indeed.
Would be great if the cut-scene didn’t appear so quickly. Would also be cool if they showed the uboat breakup in the depth charge view.
I wish there is a game where Wolfpack can play as the U-Boat captain vs a Destroyer captain, having that same game playing from either side. It will be epic.
Love your Silent hunter 3 series and the Destroyer: U-boat hunter. Give us the perspective from both sides.
There once was, Silent hunter 2 and Destroyer or Destroyer command can't remember the name, was great fun
@@stevie01159Yeah, it was Destroyer Command. Surprised that no one ever did that concept again for cross-compatible games.
Enjoying this series a lot, and this game goes really well with your narrative style. Love your stuff WP.
Damn, that blind hit at deep depth was crazy.
I got this game because of you. Damn you made it look so easy. How do you focus on what you are trying to do when they're constantly yelling out updates on contacts?
I can't play this game because of that, does my head in 🙂
Sup, it's me. the guy who gave the kill log on the last video. On my 9th crossing now and really dreading setting sail.
I've found that you can be roughly about 100 yards off a target and still hit using the wide patterns, useful if they make a sharp turn off to the side and are about 100 yards away. If you sail alongside just dropping a wide pattern it can still hit and sink a sub, or at the least give it a series of near hits to think about.
so far:
Bloodhound: 38 kills (D)
Mountie: 7 kills (K)
Antler: 18 kills (FF)
Maple: 8 Kills (K)
Hockey: 31 Kills (FF)
Black Cat: 1 kill (PBY)
Careful, Hockey is catching up to you
Love your work on & under the water....
Thanks!
Wolfpack, any time you get a critical hit, its always a kill no matter what.
Any plans for more SH4? Maybe a Brisbane or Pearl Harbor home base?
You should check out Highfleet. I think you would really enjoy that game
Hey all! I have been making an effort to post more on instagram! History, screenshots and whatever else strikes my fancy! Throw me a follow if it interests you. instagram.com/wolfpack3451?igshid=MzMyNGUyNmU2YQ%3D%3D

Abble was massacred, not a chance. Dude didn't even try to survive.
Man I love how this round went. Great work out there Captain.
That was awesome, didn't know what to expect from this series, but it really is a edge of the seat stuff every time 👏👏👏🐺
This game will only get better as development continues
I love it, but kinda annoying they call this "full release" when there are so many problems they still need to fix.
@@grnmjolnirCuz being in "beta" for an extended amount of time gets negative perception
The games is released and complete may be some tweaks etc but don’t expect major changes.
WP345: I'm not sure about that run...
Me: That boat is going to be very deep in a second or two.
This was a particularly cool thumbnail, it really grabbed my attention.
That was an awesome run!! You know that had to be hell in those subs!!!
Hopefully we will get a Pacific sequel at some point, building on this game to include Anti Air, Anti Ship, support ops etc
Nice episode! Great depthcharge runs.
love the series. what i can't tell is if the subs are a bit too passive or if Wolfpack is doing too good of a job at keeping their heads underwater
The latter. U-Boats in the game would wreck the convoy pretty hard if left unattended.
This is a good series
Dude you are knocking it out the park! 🌠🌠
Love this series ❤
You guys know how to party!
I really want to learn this game, I own it but I need to put the time in to learn all the tools. In real life didn’t the subs go deep to evade destroyers? They don’t come back up to attack again with a destroyer nearby. Love the content.
Another good episode
3:11 one beer for the cross-eyed gunners not even able to hold on degree of directional accuracy..
Who made that man a gunner?!
@@SithFTW4072 I did sir! He's my cousin.
It seems wolf loves this series. I do too. I much prefer silent hunter. Or U-boat
It’s quite a different experience very much charging about not stealth etc as in a Subsim.
Great video!
Is it actually possible to hit the subs with the 5-inch guns? They seem a lot less accurate than in IRL and even when the look like they should hit you see a splash animation.
Still the Subs don't fight back ! No mines, no acoustic torps.
It's 1944. Mines aren't even meant for fighting destroyers; they take way too long to deploy. Acoustic torpedoes would be a late-war invention and not widely available.
Mines were deployed to deny access to and from ports and coastal shipping lanes, not as active offensive or defensive weapons in the open sea. Submarines don't have the speed or maneuverability of the destroyers when submerged, their best tactic is to try to break contact once detected, then re-engage.
@@richardduerr9983 Mines have been around for centuries, there were some experimental small mines developed early WW2, to be deployed by subs but I don't know the details. It wouldn't be difficult to create floating small mines that were deployed from a Subs deck. Dangerous yes but possibly an escape from attacking Destroyers.
@@RemusKingOfRome Well I do know the history of mines and the details of mines deployed by submarines during WW2 in particular, which were used in WW2 to deny access to ports of entry and shipping lanes. If I did not know that information, or consider myself fairly expert on the topic, I would not have posted in the first place. Launching mines from a submarine as a form of self-defense would have been pointless. They were not like ping-pong balls which would immediately bob to the surface. More than that, if you tried to use free floating mines as a weapon, they would be as much a danger to other submarines (U-boats) as they would be to the enemy who hunts them, because those mines that didn't get hit by the attacking destroyer, could be hit by the next U-boat that come around hunting other surface vessels later, because of the fact that U-boats attacked on the surface, in the darkness of night when in the range of aviation anti-submarine patrols. Those U-boats would have been as vulnerable as any other surface ship to free floating mines. That's why free floating mines were hardly ever deployed. Mines were deployed with anchors, so they stay where they were planted, not floating around unchecked.
@@richardduerr9983 Anything is better than sitting there being destroyed. It is stupid to try and run away from something that is faster than you. You need to fight back somehow. If I was a sub commander, I would try FLOATING small mines and circulating surface running torps, anything to fight back.
I freaking love your voice
Good show!
Able, Baker, Charlie... was that the official alphabet back then, instead of Alpha, Bravo, Charlie?
Can you put a Hedgehog ASW mortar on your Fletcher class destroyer?
No you can't
@@Wolfpack345 Do hedgehogs show up later in '44 or something?
That would be a good DLC. Add on
I can’t watch these. I’ve followed you too long as a Uboat Commander, this series seems wrong. But… it looks great. 👍🏼👍🏼
the only info I can find is that fletchers had 16 depth charges on the rear rollers. Does this game mirror this limited ammo capacity?
I assume you only hear the pings when they bounce off the submarine?
Like video
can you upgrade equipment in this game?
No that is not possible. Would be a cool feature. Along with equipment breaking down. Would be fun to do this without Radar.
Wasn't it previous video, where you lost 1 cargo ship?
Yeah, it was a ship not a part of the convoy though.
@@Wolfpack345 sorry, my mistake... I somehow last time watched second episode and over there Lunar Voyage was lost... I have been 2 months at sea so I really can't keep up with videos all the time... Especially when we are in or near Africa 🤣 internet service is not the best around here 😅
Is this game still in beta?
Please.ake videos on U BOAT CAMPAIGN
Comment.
So i have to ask are you also known as devildoggamer sound just like him
interestingly, they use the wrong name for the Material Condition in the GQ alarm. In those days it was called ZED. ZEBRA is the modern name for it. Kinda interesting anachronism there.
FC ZULU is the modern name, ZEBRA is correct for WW2.
Zed is used by the British, Canadians Aussies and so on from then til now. Americans being different use either Zebra or Zulu depending on WW2 or modern day
Never been this early before 💀
Congrats!
Title: 1944
Intro cinematc: 1942
got the dates mixed up lol
No, that is the joke.
He's killing U-boats as easy as if it was 1944. Its still 1942 but its already becoming a turkey shoot. I hope the devs improve the AI and give them some counter sonar devices like Bold or this game is, imo, not got the same replay ability as the sub games.
