Why did the prophet of the one true god even allow the taking of slaves in the first place?? Why not just abolish the whole nasty degrading practice of slavery straight away and set a better example for humanity? There were plenty of things that islam banned and declared haram, so why not slavery??
I'm guessing it was due to how the environment was in need of it, e.g., if for war 2 sides combat, and one loses, the other side must take the losing side as captives otherwise the losing side will just regroup or team up with other enemies and overthrow the previous winners or muslims in this case, if you take away slavery then you would allow this type of threat, and since war was common, enslaving was necessary otherwise you would have to kill them all
But the rules of slavery, such as you can't rape them, sell them into prostitution, feed them like the food you eat, clothe them with your clothes, give them shelter, you can't beat them, these are the rules islam gave for slaves which is quite humane, in fact some women who were captives of war ended up marrying their Muslim masters because the muslims showed great character, and if a slave women births a child that child is declared free, if a slave wants to be free then the muslims master must make a contact eventually allowing this to happen, and you should watch Abdullah andalusi in how islam ended cattle slavery, oh yeah and there's lots of rewards to free slaves, it's also encouraged, and some times if you break the rules like having sex whilst fasting, you have to free a slave
Because taking captives was a NECESSARY part of war back then. Abolishing that practice would be a really bad move and it would show that there was no divine wisdom supporting him (SAW) in the first place.

“Slavery” was a necessary part of war back then. Prophet Jesus (AS) would’ve done the same thing if he were there. The reason why we don’t find such narrations of him is because he was never put in charge of leading a nation of people. Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessing be upon him, said:
مَنْ ضَرَبَ غُلَامًا لَهُ حَدًّا لَمْ يَأْتِهِ أَوْ لَطَمَهُ فَإِنَّ كَفَّارَتَهُ أَنْ يُعْتِقَهُ
Whoever strikes his slave sharply or slaps him, then the expiation for the sin is to emancipate him.

Why did the prophet of the one true god even allow the taking of slaves in the first place?? Why not just abolish the whole nasty degrading practice of slavery straight away and set a better example for humanity? There were plenty of things that islam banned and declared haram, so why not slavery??
I'm guessing it was due to how the environment was in need of it, e.g., if for war 2 sides combat, and one loses, the other side must take the losing side as captives otherwise the losing side will just regroup or team up with other enemies and overthrow the previous winners or muslims in this case, if you take away slavery then you would allow this type of threat, and since war was common, enslaving was necessary otherwise you would have to kill them all
But the rules of slavery, such as you can't rape them, sell them into prostitution, feed them like the food you eat, clothe them with your clothes, give them shelter, you can't beat them, these are the rules islam gave for slaves which is quite humane, in fact some women who were captives of war ended up marrying their Muslim masters because the muslims showed great character, and if a slave women births a child that child is declared free, if a slave wants to be free then the muslims master must make a contact eventually allowing this to happen, and you should watch Abdullah andalusi in how islam ended cattle slavery, oh yeah and there's lots of rewards to free slaves, it's also encouraged, and some times if you break the rules like having sex whilst fasting, you have to free a slave

I am Muslim. The atheists and Christians are attacking the Islam by exploiting this Hadeeth so I want to ask some questions
1 - Why would the Prophet (PBUH) permit Dihyah to have 7 bondwomen but only Allah permitted to marry only 4 ?
2- Why wouldn’t the Prophet (PBUH) release them (women) ? of course, Allah gave him wisdom but what benefits would bring his soldiers when they are at war?

“Slavery” was a necessary part of war back then. Prophet Jesus (AS) would’ve done the same thing if he were there. The reason why we don’t find such narrations of him is because he was never put in charge of leading a nation of people.
