    I definitely would like to see how it does with other ammunition. I honestly think it can shoot better than what it did. I hope it can and does anyways. If not, even with all the bells and whistles, not for that kind of money. Not when you can get a budget rifle as you have and shoot 1/2” groups. Appreciate the video and time you put into it.

    I found the best round for my rifle is Federal 168 grain Match Grade. It was all over the target with 4 other "match grade" ammo in varied projectile weights. I had no idea rifles could be so sensitive to ammo.
    Even tho my rifle is not fed by a magazine I found the magazines for my AR10 a convenient way to carry ammo for the bolt gun. Keeps it clean and organized. Just push rounds out with my thumb as needed.
    I passed the FBI sniper course with my early Savage 110 series rifle and without a $2000 scope. It outshot an experienced, highly pissed off, FBI sniper next to me on the line with his beautiful Remington 700. He had the best of everything. Pitched a little fit, he did. It was my first time on a sniper course with only sighting rounds thru the Savage. From what I have read and experienced the Savage is highly underated.
    Just remembered, a special operations friend had an amazing adjustable trigger made for my rifle. You push forward on the trigger and a set trigger pops out. Looks like the Accutrigger. It is adjustable down to " breath on it". Which, of course, would never be called for but that trigger changed the rifle dramatically as Savage for some reason sent the rifles out with like a 7 to 9 pound non adjustable trigger. Your finger would go numb waiting for it to "drop". Something at the time about accidental discharges.
    Someone needs to reproduce this amazing trigger. I have never seen another one like it. I have the the main trigger set at 3.5lbs and the set trigger at less than 1lb. There is no movement of the rifle at that pull. You touch the set trigger, gun fires. No take up.

    • @JohnJohnson-qb9zh
      @JohnJohnson-qb9zh 11 місяців тому +1

      My CZ527 has a trigger like that. They call it a “set trigger”. Like you said, 3-4(or less) normal break. Then under 1lb when you push it forward into “set trigger” mode. Don’t know why they stopped using them? Maybe a safety issue?

    • @TheAcceleratorMagazine
      @TheAcceleratorMagazine 11 місяців тому

      @@JohnJohnson-qb9zh I was kinda thinking the safety angle but thot they would still be common among the sniper/precision crowd. Like I said mine was built for my rifle by someone in special operations so since they can have pretty much whatever they want the set triggers are still in use.
      Thanks for takin the time to read and reply....

    when you change your optic, try tapping the top of the dial you just changed. It helps to settle the scope down. My dad had been doing that all his life and taught it to me (even on new scopes). I've seen a new scope turned to a specific spot, look through it, tap it a few times with your finger, look back and see that it's moved again.

    Alrighty, now I have about 200 rounds through mine in 6.5 creedmoor. Being new to rifle shooting I’ve got to say, this is just too much fun. I am literally stacking shots on rope of one another consistently at 100yds. It’s taken me patience and repetition but I’ve got it worked out now. I’ve shot a variety of ammo between 120 and 147 grain. Nothing stands out as bad but I just seem to layer them on one another better with 140 and 143 grain.
    I’ve shot all sorts of Hornady loads (match, hunter, super performance, whitetail), HSM tipping point, and Sellier & Bellot.
    Today I shot an entire box of sellier & bellot 140 grain soft point (the most economical of all those tried) and with a 10 shot group it’s less than 1/2 inch with 5 shot literally making one larger hole.
    I had 1 flyer out of over 100 rounds shot today which I have to imagine is my fault. Even that was still within an inch of the rest of the grouping. I shot cold barrel and hot barrel as well. I might even say it seemed to tighten up as the barrel was warmer. Anyhow, that’s my update, couldn’t be happier!

  • @ronevans9277
    @ronevans9277 11 місяців тому +3

    Interesting. I still haven’t shot mine (6.5 creedmoor w/viper gen II 5-25x50. I also added a 419 hellfire match brake.
    It does say to shoot 50 rounds first as “break-in” then sight it in. I have 3 different 6.5 rounds to use for general grouping w/first 50 then I’ll sight it in with the one that grouped best initially.
    Also - totally agree on action, super smooth, and that trigger is absolutely phenomenal out of the box.

    Nice review. I'm betting that this rifle has more potential. I think either the barrel will need to be broken in, or you'll need to experiment with other loads and bullets to see what this barrel prefers.
    For the price the Remington CoreLokt Tipped is good ammo and definitely a step up from the regular CoreLokt or other brands' basic hunting ammo but its still not quite a high end hunting bullet or even match bullet for that matter.

    On your 10 yard shot, what’s the measurement from the aim to the hit dots??

      WTW says they are 2 inches apart. Then at 100 his first hit is almost always about 2 inches low.
      I don't use a fancy tool for bore sighting. I just remove the bolt and set up the rifle so I can look down the barrel at a target at about 25 yards. Once I get the target centered in the barrel, I look through the scope and adjust the scope to the target. Depending on how stable the rifle is, this may take a few minutes.
      I then shoot at 25 yards to check how close I am, then if close I go to 100. If not a few adjustments to get the scope on at 25 then go to 100.
      I've used this method for years. This works with any gun that you can remove the bolt and look through the bore. On the few guns this can't be done with I then shoot at just a few yards at a very large target, to see where it hits then while holding the gun firmly I adjust the scope so the cross hair align with the bullet hole. Then move this larg target out to 25 or 100 to shoot and adjust the scope.
      This is much cheaper than whatever bore sighting tool you can buy.
