Doug is right about fire management. I have lived in Shasta Lake, formerly Project City, Toyon/Summit City, Central Valley, and Pine Gtoove, for 77 years. The forest fires , now called wild fires, in my youth were not as severe as those of today. I believe the logging of those woods that occurred in an abundance during my youth was responsible for less severe forest fires. The environmentalists were responsible for shutting down logging. About four years ago, my family and I had to evacuate from our home twice. This never happened in my youth. We now have terms such as fire torados to describe forrest fires. My house insurance went up steeply. Inflation and paying out of fire insurance claims are responsible for this. The Democratic Party and the RINOS in Congress have no common sense. This country is doomed. Thirty-four trillion dollars and climbing. America's leadership has spent trillion of dollars fighting worthless wars for nothing and getting our service men and women killed or crippled.
-Every competing entry-level job (security guards, hotels, etc.) will also be impacted as they must now compete with the fast food jobs, so jobs will be lost across the board. -Fast food chains can now be much more discriminatory in hiring, leaving the whole class of teens, immigrants, and other entry-level workers with no prospects. -Since employers will use every angle they can to survive this (higher prices, fewer locations, automation, etc.) it won’t seem THAT catastrophic, but the general quality of life will decrease in many ways. The politicians will keep on blaming greedy corporations for all of the problems, and as long as people keep buying it, nothing will change.
What are you talking about? Everyone needs a carpenter. How are you marketing your side hustle? You always make more working for yourself. Ps. Write off your tools on your taxes.

@@mb9662 Well here's an idea. Take a look at what happened to Russia after the Biden regime slapped so many sanctions on them, and all the American companies pulled out of the country. All those Russian McDonalds & other fast food restaurants' franchisees just renamed their restaurants and reopened, and Russian chains of successful businesses were born. Maybe all these people who own franchises in large fast food companies should end their partnerships with thier corporations, then re-name their restaurant and run it as a small business. As I understand it, small businesses who do not have a chain of locations are not affected by the $20 wage hike.
The fast food workers abroad make $20+ and over with benefits. They seem to manage just fine and they're food prices aren't that much more than here in the U.S. If you own a business & can't afford to pay your employees a living wage with insurance benefits, you have no business owning a business. Businesses are not philanthropic enterprises. They are in the business of making a profit. With this new minimum wage law CA essentially shot the golden goose. The closures of Fosters etc is just the first installment on what may turn out to be a plethora of additional closures. I think the most pernicious part of this law was the creation of a commission that will, willy-nilly, increase the minimum ad infinitum on a moments whim. Who, in their right mind, would subject themselves to this when they can go elsewhere and not be subject to the lunacy of Sacramento legislators.

People in the fast food industry will have a living wage. If you work full time, you should not need food stamps. The market will decide. It’s called free enterprise. Franchise owners will have to temper price hikes with losing customers. A smaller profit margin is just real trickle down.
I've got a suggestion how about we just start lowering our Tax rates instead of having to pay people more, just lower ur overall costs and corruption, it's really easy peasy
Yet the ceo will still make 17.8 million but no one will complain about that! This rich rice baron complaining about people masking a living wage is laughable and hypocritical af!
It doesn't bother me that people are making $20/hr in a fast food job. What bothers me is that is the minimum starting wage. Some 18 year old kid with zero work experience starting at $20 is insane. How much do they have to pay an experienced employee or a shift manager? $30/hr and $40/hr? Food will get so expensive that people won't eat out and restaurants will close. Already starting to see that happen with rapid minimum wage increases since 2013. It's a doom loop.
Couple points to look at also. That Americans budget more for their fast food than to their grocery lists is why owners of these kinds of mini restaurants are profiting. Yes, this food is hot, fast, convenient, and getting more expensive ( it stopped being cheap a long time ago, who are we kidding). Though the customer pays for it many ways over. With money, they can ill afford. A credit card with a balance at the end of the month. With their own health, including family they are regularly bringing this food to. What was once an occasional family treat for dinner has become a food staple. If this new $20 hr. law causes more people to eat healthier at home, make their own coffee in the morning, a breakfast sandwich or burrito, pack a cooler with whatever is in the fridge, head out the door for their day, can ONLY be a good thing. Think of the money saved at the end of the month, at the end of the week, even! Yes, it's unfortunate for these business owners, exempt employees and workers getting let go. Then, think again of the hard shift in a hot, dangerous kitchen where everybody's on top of each other trying to get this food out. Governor Newsome must have heard these stories thousands of times to realize that anyone working in these conditions is worth this new law. Let the average person experience what's it like in this kind of environment for one day, and that person would totally understand what this is really all about.
Imagine a law to force employees to make $300 less and prices increase. I’m hoping to see the day Employees walk out protesting Gavin Newsom’s $20 minimum wage increase.
I'm curious, do politicians in CA, at every level, ever call the governor, or legislators when they are debating raising the minimum wage every year, and try and convince them to not do it, or do they just wait for it to happen, then complain?
$20 an hour as minimum wage, 🤔how much money do you think these restaurants generate each day depending on that number this is unsustainable and will lead to business closures
According to Open Door, an assistant manager at McDonalds receives a starting wage of $19 per hour. So the question is: IF the person cleaning the bathrooms & floors, & emptying the trash cans now gets $20 per hour, the how much should the assistant manager who is responsible to open & close the store, plus be responsible for all other employees earn? We need free markets to be free, and pay fairly based on the value of the industry and job performance. Let entry level jobs provide exactly what they are intended, to provide a 1st job for young people, or a extra job for those who need it. Young people will learn how to work, and can seek a better and more high paying position as they become trained and educated. Otherwise, just watch how fast business owners decide to pull the plug and move out of the socialist republic of California to continue their businesses in the United States, which many are now planning on doing!...
Go California, You have the highest Unemployment rate in the country already, way to make it even higher "Good intentions can often lead to unintended consequences." - Tim Walberg

Based on the title no duh they are saving me money f them politicians continue to screw cali up
We do not even need restaurants, They are a luxury for rich people.
If you can not afford to go to restaurants who cares what the price is ?
I'm a carpenter who makes $23 an hour and I gotta buy my own tools. I'm gonna flip burgers and bottom line make more money. Skills ain't worth crap.
You only get 20 hours flipping burgers a week though. Carpentry 6 days if you want.
What are you talking about?
Everyone needs a carpenter.
How are you marketing your side hustle?
You always make more working for yourself.
Ps. Write off your tools on your taxes.
Life’s easy when your parents hold your hand through college, pay your dorm and have safety cushions to fall on.
In Ca $20 is crap. Everything is so expensive that $20 is actually a minimum wage. All these food corporations raise prices yearly no matter what. They nickel and dime the consumer without them even realizing.
Everyone knows this from high school ECON CLASS. Or they don't have that and Government class for awhile now?
Since when does "common sense" have any relevance in California ???
“In-N-Out” gonna hafta change to “Over-N-Out”
😂
I think in and out already pays more than $20 to start. I wont wait in their long lines though, only when they open at 11am
They only went up 25 cents. They have always paid more
Punishing the local pizza place and family owned business...60 or more restaurants and fast food clause not understood eh?
In order to compete, local pizza restaurants will have to raise minimum wage.
Fast food is crappy and not worth the price. Time to move to another state. Fast food is really unhealthy, even the wrappers are full of chemicals.
LIFE is full of chemicals, where have you been?
Like that guy said! Your a chemical reaction.
@onpoint77408pesticides preservatives gene splicing, growth hormone, antibiotic. All our food is toxic these days. Another side effect is the food has less nutrition .
time to start cooking at home.
Crock Pot heaven
That stupid move on 20.00 dollar alot restaurants will close up
The more I examine la malfa the more I like his morals
Smart Move when U think about it...WE don’t need people eating food that is bad for them, and then picking up the tab when their Health fails wile they are still in their 50s ~ Now do we??
You are not wrong...
Who are you to tell anyone how to live?
Mafia Hitmen and crooked politicians always come with a smile. 😮
LOL, many of us warned people what was going to happen, but it seems that the people who never bothered to learn new skills so they could find work elsewhere, never bothered to learn basic economics as well. Hmm, there's a name for people who are incapable of learning, I'm sure I will think of it in a minute. 🤪
I think the word you were searching for is "Democrat".
High rent prices, now higher wages, franchises will close and move to low cost States.
This filters out smaller fast food businesses eventually will close. This is WEF BlackRock Vanguard state street aim to take control of the market . Then eventually what you eat.
If anything this will discourage big chain fast food from dominating a market. Now independent restaurants can compete with these vertically integrated monopolies
@mb9662 this is the stupidest thing I have ever read on the internet, congratulations.
They know what theyre doing. 😢
The fast food workers abroad make $20+ and over with benefits. They seem to manage just fine and they're food prices aren't that much more than here in the U.S. If you own a business & can't afford to pay your employees a living wage with insurance benefits, you have no business owning a business. PERIOD! God forbid anyone make a living wage according some folks.
Re-Call Newsom and save California!
its going to make it hard for site down Restaurants to keep employees
10,000 businesses close, 250,000 laid off in one year is my prediction.
Well there goes the .99 cent Jack taco's, The cheapest place to eat in California is Costco, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas and a large pepperoni pizza 16 bucks. I can't get 2 value meals at McDonalds that cheap, will be eating at home more now.
Explain to me the success of In & Out in California
Fast food restaurants downsized the size of their products and charged more years ago.
In-n-Out is family owned and thus no high franchise fees to pay. They may still own their own farm/ ranch(s) for their ingredients.
Do you know what a business model is?
In and Out is privately owned businesses. Do you really not know the difference between that and a franchise?
@@youtubesucks1499 it's called choices
No one forced these individuals to invest in a franchise
We run a successful family business because we chose not to buy into a franchise
Fast food has been gouging people for years same as the bar industry
Once upon a time you'd see the owners eveytime you went
Now individuals want to be absentee owners and expect the same result
How dare they want survivable wages and actually be able to pay rent, I need a fourth Lamborghini you peasants
Rep. LaMalfa, Thanks for standing up for the businesses and citizens of California. We have vey few representatives for logical and just governance. Glad you are speaking out.
I work in Ohio i work to supplement my sosial security that is not enough to live on if this happens here i will loose my job.
People in the fast food industry will have a living wage. If you work full time, you should not need food stamps. The market will decide. It’s called free enterprise. Franchise owners will have to temper price hikes with losing customers. A smaller profit margin is just real trickle down.
No, the other option is to close the restaurant and move those investment dollars into a more profitable ROI.
Well I sure won’t ever be traveling to California any day soon. I’m not paying $20 for a Big Mac while on vacation.
Remember the people voted him in ! Panera Bread will be happy with less competition ! The campaign donations really paid off for their future growth !
Fgn🦨
No translation needed. I can smell it. here in Las Vegas.
I've got a suggestion how about we just start lowering our Tax rates instead of having to pay people more, just lower ur overall costs and corruption, it's really easy peasy
As a California wildfire victim thank you Doug
Yet the ceo will still make 17.8 million but no one will complain about that! This rich rice baron complaining about people masking a living wage is laughable and hypocritical af!
Don’t forget that most people tip about 20% in non-fast food establishments. This new law is like a mandatory tip..
Deleted my Starbucks and McDonald’s app
The panera excemption is not true the owner is still paying look it up
Couple points to look at also.
I wonder what the hourly pay is for entry level jobs at PlumpJack?
And the demise of California continues.
Think it's a long game? They're planning on buying cheap properties in an economic downturn.
Imagine a law to force employees to make $300 less and prices increase.
I’m hoping to see the day Employees walk out protesting Gavin Newsom’s $20 minimum wage increase.
The end of fast food......thanks Gavin!
I'm curious, do politicians in CA, at every level, ever call the governor, or legislators when they are debating raising the minimum wage every year, and try and convince them to not do it, or do they just wait for it to happen, then complain?
$20 an hour as minimum wage, 🤔how much money do you think these restaurants generate each day depending on that number this is unsustainable and will lead to business closures
invest in companies that make fast food kiosks now
Everyone making over minimum wage just took a pay cut and those who make minimum will see no increase in buying power as prices immediately rise.
Another victory for walmart. Fast food restaurants inside walmart are exempt.
I wish Doug would run for Governor.
The governor owns a restaurant that has physicians advertise for less than twenty dollars
Go California, You have the highest Unemployment rate in the country already, way to make it even higher "Good intentions can often lead to unintended consequences." - Tim Walberg
Nobody was worried about these people before now out of left field they all care that some might lose their job. The job wasn't bill payable.
food courts are crowded now. Cheaper eat than restaurants.
This is a start but certainly all workers deserve a decent minimum wage.
I would like to see fast food restaurants go out of business. Unhealthy and highly processed junk. GREEDY COMPANIES
QUESTION PLEASE: Does this law include old fashioned sit down restaurants. You know, where a waitress or waiter takes your family to a table and you order a meal?
Such BS!
What about all the other worker making less than that?!?!?!
People here in Idaho are still 7:25 an hour we've been that way for 27 years rent is tripled gas groceries they're just making everybody work 2 and 3 jobs what are revenue huh
So many are complaining about this but I personally think it should be 25 or maybe more. The companies make plenty of money. People dedicate their lives to be make these companies succeed and they deserve their fair share of the profits.
The McDonald's corporation will never take the loss
