Wow, he bought that Hakeem refractor from me off eBay. I graded that card with PSA. Cool to see it again on your episode!
It’s a small world!! 🤯
And now I own it
that's wild. how much did you sell it for? any idea what it's worth now?
Applauds to you, Chasing Cardboard, I was wrong.
You have changed my mind, I had commented on your video months ago due to you under pricing a card during a negotiation. I used to feel you were trying to get one over on the sellers.
Now, you have the most wholesome interactions with pure and unadulterated honesty at every step. You produce the best content the hobby has ever seen. And you do it while teaching everyone the right way to do business.
Thank you for what you do, and my deepest apologies for my misjudgment.
Sorry....but I disagree with your original opinion.....I think more than half the time Ty offers TOO much.....just my opinion.
@@DEE-o4vthe guy also disagrees with his original opinion. Don't think you need to apologize to tell him you feel the same way as he does now.
The dealer I sell all my high value cards to is as straight up as 12:00 and I really appreciate that. That’s the only way to do business and I sell to him for less because of the transparency and no b.s. back and forth. I HATE that. So the brutally honest, current market price on that day is the only way to buy and sell this stuff.
“Let’s see if your eyes get drawn to the same cards.” Pulls out phone and zooms in on single cards
Great episode, love the addition at the end with random cards/sales from the collection. Would like to see that at the end of every episode!
I'm from England and all I know about American sports is Lebron James, Steph Curry and KD. Yet I watch all these videos. It feels like a discovery channel series
Google is great
@@Jaiberg the production quality is just A1.
Jordan? Magic Johnson? Come on man
@@brenttirwin6737 Kurt Rambis.
I'm a 55 year old American whose been collecting for almost 50 years. But I still learn stuff on here or discover things that I had no idea existed. So then I have to try and track some down lol
Biggest surprise was how low the Unitas card sold for. Love that vintage stuff with players from that era.
My biggest quirk is I scan all of my cards that are worth more than a couple bucks, so I can enjoy my collection digitally when I'm on the road.
@@justins8639 what app do you use for that
Thank you so much for sharing, I'm getting into the hobby and you want to talk about the community, this guy was amazing (so were you). What a great story, journey, and close. Great video and can't wait to see more.
Thanks for watching!
That was the craziest organization of cards that I’ve ever seen by number.
Also that was the quickest and easiest negotiation that I’ve ever seen.
Seller was definitely on point. Great episode as always.
Great episode! That guy knew the price for his cards. My quirk is that I have to put all of the cards I get in the mail in new sleeves and holders that match my collection. Very rarely does something come in that I keep in the same protection.
That’s a great quirk to have!
My quirk. I collect cards of father and sons that played. Brothers that played the same year. Managers and their cards as players. Main niche is all Baltimore Orioles base cards, all manufacturers from 1954 to date.
Missouri and more specifically the Springfield/Branson/Rolla region has a special place in my heart! I’m not from there but a short visit in 2022 left me with some lasting memories!
The Unitas at the end was the most surprising to me.
Beautiful part of the country!
im from Steelville about 30 min from rolla and i love living around here nicest people i have ever lived around. I have a pretty significant stl blues collection around 5000 autos pretty extensive fabbri and stephen piscotty rookie collections ive always wanted @CHASINGCARDBOARD to check it out and see if it is worth selling or just keeping them to look at. i dont have the option of going to detroit and vegas now to even sell them two rookie collections. i know they could.
Sadly I want out of the hobby it’s been ruined by greedy breakers and we’re all lying to ourselves that we’re not in another junk wax era.
Same. Got back into it during covid, but just not viable for most people now.
Fanatics is the source of greed. It's not the breakers fault. They have no say in price points and honestly it hurts them the same as us if that's how they make their living. Do some research and you'll see what I mean. Corporate greed is ruining everything not just sports cards and it's not fair that everybody is blaming the wrong people. Obviously there are shitty breakers ripping people off but not the majority
@@BreakandBake710 So your saying we are back in a late 80’s & 90’s style trading? Where most cards are and were worthless? Do you just think the hype is too much? I want to understand what you mean.
@@B2Strong that's what he meant, too much supply
New subscriber, and local KC viewer here! Content is awesome. As a fairly new member to the hobby I appreciate the detail. Great stuff!
My favorite show on UA-cam. But I’m biased 😎
💥
I tell everyone I know about your UA-cam channel.
I use FCP myself. I'm glad to see you use a Mac. What program do you use to catalog your cards? There use to be a Mac program called Card Collector but I don't think they are in business anymore. I just use Excel for tracking my cards. The next time I'm in Atlanta I'm gonna stop by your card store.
The music from about the 18-20 minute mark made me think I was back 20 years ago playing Age of Empires on the PC!
Hopefully that's a good thing. :-)
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD the game was great, your show is great, the music choice was interesting...
@@davidsurfacemusic gotta mine those resources ⛏
Druckenmiller because I have never heard of him. I also wanted to send a big shout out to whoever finally decided to close the bathroom door.
Just a thought. If you waited until after your purchase video drops and gets views to list said cards. They'll probably sell for more.
chasingcardboard.live/eBay -- we kept a lot from Robert and they'll be hitting our store.
My quirk: I like collecting insert sets with Michael Jordan that contain 10 cards. 9 cards look great in a 9-page binder and MJ in a PSA holder.
Shocked, that the Unitas didn’t go for more! 😍
My quirk, 9 of the same exact card per page was my goal when I first started to collect back in the 80's. When I couldn't get 9 I at least tried to get 3, I don't know a full page of 9 just looked glorious! For a huge bonus I would get 18 of the same card a full 2 page spread!
That’s awesome!
Crazy environment, but a NICE collection, Ty! My guys, and I, thank you, friend. 👍🇺🇸
Yessssssss!!! Love Chasing Cardboard! ❤
So cool. I collected NFL cards as a kid all through the 90s. I started collecting again about a year ago. Its crazy to see others who collect and how fast your collection builds. 6 million cards in a house. I was floored, my wife would not have that lol. Loved the vid, new sub and ill defly be binging more!
Awesome video as always. My collecting is rather simple. I live in Wyoming so I collect all professional players that were born in Wyoming or any player that played for any of the Wyoming Cowboys College teams ie: Josh Allen, Jim Kiick and of course Wyoming's legend Conrad Dobler!
Awesome video! I'm just 45min down the road from Springfield.
Yes!! Do you visit Arrowhead?
@@CHASINGTYWILSON Have stopped in a few times. Awesome store! You should check out 417 sports cards in Lebanon Missouri next time you're close to Springfield. It's our local card shop.
me too, Branson.
Which way?
The Jim Drunkenmiller surprised me going for more than some of the others lol. Great video. David and Mark at Arrowhead sports cards are the best! That is my local card shop. Love that place and I am a life long Raiders fan!
38 minutes of hobby gold. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So the sorted by card number binders, are they all base? All parallels?
Once again Ty comes thru. You find the most unusual collections and the best characters. Another great episode
Fabulous episode. Editing was crisp.
Thanks for watching!
Has discovery reached out to you? They should…
I need that guy to organize my collection
I’m from Springfield! Thank you for coming
Another great episode! Thank you Ty and CC team.
Kudos to that card shop owner. I can't imagine there'd be too many businesses that'd allow business to be conducted on their premises that didn't involve them in the deal. I don't know the gentleman, but it speaks volumes of the man. Good karma heading his way (and, due to 'spoiler alert', it sounds like you repaid that karma to him). Really is great to see. 👍
He’s a good dude, for sure!
I collect only T206’s
I’ll never complete the rarest couple… for obvious reasons…but I’m getting close to having the rest. I believe in saving for one supremely fine card, rather than have 1000 decent ones.
I keep most of my cards in Binders in card number order. Everything is in penny sleeves. All value cards are in Penny sleeves and Top loaders.
❤️ the seller’s personality.
My collection is in order of my favorite team 1st , then casehits , then my goats all in order. The base cards I have are all decided into sets by the year. First is football , then baseball basketball at back end.
Very cool. I sold a couple lots of cards all sport to a collector similar was building binders of jersey #29 Showing.
We’ve all been there, right? Thanks for watching!
Quirk. Whenever one of my teams wins a title, I get the Chrome/Refractor rookie of every Player on the team AND A chrome/refractor from the season that they won the title. Luckily, most of my teams suck but it makes the championships fun.
Fantastic caverns is where jesse james hideout is right? Beautiful place
Yeah, it is!
Like the card price updates!
my quirk is to always make the parallel relevant to the set in some way... whether listing card or showing it off ... what the design is what the intent is.
Love this episode. Can't wait for the next one.
Great content! When is this going to be on TV
No. Keep it where it is. TV will ruin it, or at least try to
This was a great episode guys. So unique
Watching these episodes as I am eating lunch in my shop, is awesome! Thanks for the great content!
Ahh i gotta finish watching this later but im so curious to see what the offer is cuz man there was some nice cards shown already!
Thinking about the way he organizes his cards is going to keep me up at night.
I wonder why more card shops don’t use something like COMC to clear out those warehouses and have a “store” to sell product online where they don’t have to process any of it in or out. Help me understand.
Is like .50 cents per card to upload
@ wouldn’t you want to get rid of $2-$10 cards fast that way?
Problem is, cards don't move that fast on COMC...
$2-10 cards get knocked down to as low as $0.25. It’s a race to the bottom.
One of my quirks is collecting cards with serial numbers of my birthday: 1/25. How did you come up with 350 hours right off the cuff? Amazing.
Ty has a huge ebay store with over 60k sold. He has a good idea on the time it takes to list thousands of cards a week.
best card content on youtube!
Love the videos as always! But the number of ads is getting crazy.
We wish we could produce this content for free but we can’t. Our families would starve! Haha
$20 for a Johnny U 9/9! Awesome deal! Great video. Cool house of cards cardmunitty small world!
The most surprising card price to me was the Johny Unites card for as low as $20.50,,,,I thought it would be much more.... Thank you very much....
EBAY NOTIFICATIONS 😊
That looks super fun I wish I could buy people's lots
Thanks for watching
Looking forward to the next episode!
Most surprising to me was how low the Unitas card sold for followed by the LeBron/Karl Malone game used jersey Card, you’ve got the number one and number three all time points leaders! And it’s almost 20 years old!
Apparently, Karl Malone wasn't a very nice guy and did a lot of heinous things while in the NBA (some of which I believe you can look up in public court records). Many people refuse to collect his stuff, thus his market is pretty small. If that card didn't have Lebron, it'd probably take a year to sell at $5.
David and Joey are awesome known them from Dallas Card Show for years!!!!
Fantastic Caverns are neat. Bass Pro is awesome.
That Griffey was a steal
loved this episode!
Great video! That collection was crazy! I wish I had that much in my collection! That Judge and the Juan Soto was nice!
Right!
@ That collection was super crazy for real! My favorite is Steph so it really was intriguing!
What an amazing show!
Love the content and story behind it.
I am in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 and very much look forward to a new release. Thanks again.
I will keep chasing from down under 👍
Appreciate it mate!
😅 My quirk is star wars from 1977. Anything with Vader. The movie we will be 50 y/o in a few. Hard to believe
Great show!! Love the content and the behind-the-scenes pricing. I have been collecting for the last year or so. I have gotten cards through Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and garage sales. The most expensive card I have gotten is a Jennifer Hermoso card off eBay, under $20.
So I am very out of touch with the prices of primo cards. That said, it was a lot of fun to guess the prices -- more of that, please :). I was off the most on the Shohei Ohtani (my guess: $600) and closest on the Hakeem Olajuwon (my guess: $45 under). My best find so far is an Orlando Cepeda rookie card in excellent condition for $2 at my local thrift store (since then, the store has upped their prices to north of $30 for a Frank Thomas single.)
Keep an eye out for those gem rookies!
Great episode! Im in Springfield. Arrowhead is an amazing shop and David is a great guy!
Also David.....If your looking I would love to sift through those storage units for you! LOL
Are they eating the pets in springfield?😂
Mine aren't like PSA rated or anything they're just in sleeves and books
Great deal !!
I'll take that inventory! 🤣🤣
A big quirk as a collector...I must have my card in the cleanest dust free top loaders I can find..no scratches, etc.
It’s funny he mentioned those 02-03 SP Authentic Basketball cards. I have a Jordan/Kobe dual auto from that release.
Quirks: Currently, I only purchase cards that are $300 and higher. They MUST be graded by PSA and in a newer PSA slab. I have also began keeping the cards in plastic sleeves as well. Wow, typing this all out makes me seem like a diva. I’ve been called worse.
I like this!!!
I do something similar and I use the sleeve over the slab also.
If they drop in value below $300, what then? 😂
@ Then I begin collecting bottle caps and toenail clippings.
I'm about to switch to same vibe. Only mine I'm doing over 250 Canadian ,so like pocket change for Americans lol
1:45 “picture in picture” is a thing you know? Easy to add those pics as B-Roll. Can’t really see jack.
Great episode! ❤️🔥 Btw My card rule for my collection is Rookie 2017 green color match PSA9 But every card needs to match and look nice when I show case them together with some sort of shiny green refactor on it! And I only PC Jayson Tatum!! LG Boston Celtics💚 cheering for repeat another chip this year!!! 😅💯❤️🔥
I needed this today:)
Heck yeah!
As a collector my cork is I like to have a page full of the same card. I also do that with Pokémon , but only limited to one Pokémon Which usually go to my favorite player or set.
Also I like to complete the sets, it’s usually the insets I go after like 90s-2000s era
Haha
So Robert originally sold what he had to David - and then he just plunged in and built up a whole other collection? (Glad I found this channel for the off season - ha. So entertaining!)
It looks like he has a very high volume of valuable cards. It seems like he would lose an awfully high percentage of total value in trying to do a one time deal. Though I understand that the time input, is the relative factor.
Small world. From that area
My new favorite channel!
I like that seller he seems like amazing person:)
I like the Jordan Wheaties box jumping man in the background
Whats up with the green Worth Mayhem softball bat?
I guessed the Ruth was 550 cause it was leaf unlicensed, still a super cool card, a topps or bowman should be double or triple right?
Possibly
That binder set up by number is insanity. I just organized by player unless it’s my favorite team
I do the same thing he does for my player binders I put that players cards in card number order. I am however 97% Baseball!!!!! 😊
Baseball is the best!
What a super cool guy! Fun episode.
This is classic chasing cardboard!
I've never heard of this technique in collecting lol but the thing I collect are game used memorabilia cards from all the greatest nfl RBs. From Emmit Smith and Adrian Peterson to Jamal Charles and LeGarrette Blount
Boom! Nailed this one.
My thing for my PC that I don't plan to sell and will leave to family more than likely. I have for years bought packs of blank index cards. Then I cut the index cards directly in half making two smaller cards out of one index card. I will then take and use each smaller card and place them in a top loader on the back side of a card that is sleeved and put the sleeved card plus the piece of index card in a top loader. On the index card I write the date I acquired the card. What I paid for it or how I got it if it was in a collection, lot so on. I do this so I will always know exactly how long I have owned a card. How much I gave for it if purchased individually. I like doing this just for fun. Even graded cards I will place the slab in a protective bag but on the back side of the slab I will slide in the little half index card inside the bag and it will tell what I paid for the card originally. The date I acquired it. What I paid to grade/authenticate it. What makes this all the more fun is going into my attic. Pulling out a box full of cards that I top loaded 30 years ago and put away. I love seeing where I picked a handful of cards up at say a flea market or yard sale and paid a quarter to 50 cents for. about a year ago I was digging through boxes looking for some 1986 Fleer basketball cards I knew I had somewhere in the attic and I pulled out this box that had tons of Ken Griffey Jr. cards from 1989 through about 1995. Now more than half that box was no big deal because it was junk era Griffey's but the reason that box got my attention was flipping through it just to see if by chance I had thrown some upper deck rookies in the box. Sure enough I had 16 raw Upper deck Griffey Jr. rookies in the box. All of them were in penny sleeves and top loads and shoved in a box back in the 90s. I had not paid more than $2 for any of them according to what I had written on the pieces on index cards I placed in the backs of the top loads. That is just my thing. It always has been.
Awesome that a guy repping Braves gear loves the personality of a Philly player...we don't hear that too often lol. Bohm really is an awesome guy!
Thanks for watching!
Haaa, you said DruNkenmiller, lolol... As a Niners fan, i can relate... Most surprising to me was how low the Unitas Gold /9 sold for... Def need a lot more respect there!!
why not auction a collection like that with Fanatics?
Auction with Fanatics? Who does that?
My collecting quirk is I collect all panthers cards. I still collect them even if the card depicts that they’re not on the team anymore but they are still pictured on the panthers. Also will collect college uni cards of the years they played with the team. I also put every ring from base to numbered (greater than/50) in binders by year by brand alphabetically. Everything /50 or less or hits are in top loaders or mags.
griffey and unitas went for way less than i thought
