Remember that the primary rule of yoga, from its origin centuries ago in India, is that yoga should be taught for free. Yes, for free. Why? Because Yoga prevents illnesses and disease, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than treatment after you get something.
Yes because Yoga/Pilates is a strict discipline/exercise and it can be useful for mind, body, soul spirituality, and it's not just simple stretches, and I assume that cost goes into coursebooks, training hours, equipment etc. and if you want to make a career out of being a yoga instructor, you need to be licensed.

Theres nothing in the agreement about being paid out for those hours if she walks away.
How do you know what was in their agreement? The judge ruled based on their contract, specifically the hours she had remaining x the hourly rate from their contract.
Am I missing something here? I understand she's paid for the certification so she gets it but she hasn't completed the training to be certified so how can she have the certificate??
The yoga community is sometimes so disappointing. This was just a simple change of heart Instead this girl got triggered to such a degree she sue her teacher. Sad
Because she completed the training, and the only reason she didn't have the certificate is because she hasn't paid off the tuition - now the tuition will be paid, so they HAVE to hand over the certificate.
