A bit late with this reply. I just received my first Value Gear today. I didn't realize the Steve I was emailing with was this Steve until now. Seems to be a very colorful person (a good thing). Very crisp detail. Highly recommended. Thanks.
Great tutorial. I bought a lot of used U.S. figures off Ebay and included were some of the packs that were included in early Tamiya kits which were very plain and boxy looking. What I wound up doing was cutting a piece of tissue an inch and a quarter square and rolled it up. I used 30lb test braided fishing line to tie the rolls in 3 places, being careful to make them as even as possible and making sure the knots all faced where I was going to attach them to the packs. Next I took more line and tied the rolls to the packs being careful to line them up to the lines that tied the rolls. I dipped them in a solution of water and white glue and let them dry. Once dried I cut the lines that tied them to the packs and glued the roll right to the pack. Once they were dried I added shovels and painted them. Only wish I could post a pic of them so you could see how they came out.

Just paid $40 for a resin pack set from Legend. It had bags, boxes and gas cans. Never thought about making my own. We definitely consider these simple techniques first. Does he make his own jerry cans too?

Use latex gloves... when sculpting resin... voila... no fingerprints left behind. Also, military gear was strapped down not tied off with rope. Rope is an uncommon military supply item... straps were inherent to most military gear requiring stowage.
Why make straps from green stuff instead of tin foil or, even better, foils from wine and whiskey bottles. I find green stuff straps just a little bit too thick. Foil will fold and you can even pull it under the buckles more easily.
I use milliput (standard) but when I roll it it sticks to everything I tried parchment paper and flour but the sometimes that dose not even work and when I use flour the putty dries sandy and conure any ideas ty
Well I've checked out Steve's website and the name Value Gear doesn't fit the bill when you see how expensive his stuff is and that's not just my opinion, I have several friends who are into the 1:35 military kits as well and they ALL agreed he's no different price-wise than any other model accessory outfit. I'm sorry but he won't be getting any of my business for sure.
Texas Hi-Railer I do plenty of 1/35 military vehicles and Value Gear are quite cheaper, it's only a few dollars but the thing is you get loads more items, 18-22 as opposed to 8-10. The other thing is Value Gear tend to be generic items so you can use them on any type of vehicle or nationality.

Steve's stuff is fantastic, I've bought 6 or 7. They always look good.
