Who you calling a hoochie? 🤣. I’m always surprised how close you guys are to the shore in some of these videos. I was under the impression that you needed some pretty deep water to catch those species. Going to use this setup on my Capitola/Santa Cruz trip next month. Great video as always!
Great video, soon I will be moving to crescent City Calif, and plan on doing exactly what you did in this video! May I ask what kayak you are in, and any other kayak info you can send. Thanks! Subbed
Me and my buddy are from the Long Beach area. We are going up there September 16-18th Wed-Fri. Launching out of leffingwell Thursday AM. We have never fished this area before so any advice would be great. We do out go out far out of Newport Etc but i know the waters are different around that area. We are staying at a motel between San Simeon and Cambria. Any other launch areas we can hit the following day, thanks in advance. If you can join that would be awesome.
Nice catches man! Keep up the kayak fishing videos man, I have a nice kayak and you inspire me to get out more! Helpful tips too! I’ll let you know if I hook up on a nice halibut in my local Humboldt bay. Tight lines bro
I have yet to go in the bay and or the ocean to kayak fish. Looking to go this coming year. You are the only kayak fisherman that mentions sharks. In a another video you mentioned bleeding the fish out and then bringing the fish in to not attract sharks and sea lions. Are sharks an issue in the bay or ocean up here in norcal?
Die hard fishing idk if your reading this or if anyone else is reading this but I’m thinking about getting a kayak really soon and what your doing catching lingcod and halibut is exactly what I wanna do I just don’t really know where to go, what to use, and when to go and I was wondering if you or anyone else could please help me out it would really mean a lot
I am based in the Bay Area. I would agree except I don't like to net a halibut because a net can cause what is known as "tail rot". Basically, it damages the tail and exposes it to possible infections
Absolutely, just so long as it's not one of the undersize lings he caught. Generic rockfish have no size limit, so technically he could have kept those olives and that kelp rockfish, they're just not worth the effort to clean them for the fillets you'd yield. Only fish within the RCG complex (rockfish / cabezon / greenlings) that are regulated size-wise, are lingcod (22" min), greenling (12" min), cabezon (15" min) and sculpin (10" min). Halibut are not rockfish, but also must be 22" as Daniel mentioned. Regs and limits etc also vary depending on where you're fishing. But, yeah, those smaller rockfish used as bait may have caught a nice size ling with a nose hook+stinger treble-hook near the tail rig, and that would've been totally legal. Sorry, probably "TLDR"-worthy...
Not telling you what to do...but fish and game can bust you for not having a landing net on a kayak with a min. 18 inch hoop...My friend got fined down here in Monterey. Nice vid.
I love your videos - no drama, no BS, just fishing - thanks, and keep 'em coming!
Appreciate the support. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the support!

Yeah I need to get one of those, along with adjusting my attire...
It looks fun!! I wanna go to fishing doon. Thank you for the video!

Good luck!!!! Hope you catch a monster!
Great vids you have Adam.
Thanks for watching!
You should do a Kayak Tournament down in Monterey before the rockfish season ends!
Thats a good idea!!!
@@DieHardFishing let's do it!
This looks like an amazing time!
Dope video/yak setup. I saw your shimano reel that you gave a link for. But do you possibly have a suggestion for a reel that's a tiny bit cheaper?
I like most Shimano reels, one that I have used before is the Shimano tekota, check it out!
what brand/model is your kayak and what is the drive
Could you try trolling a deep-diver rapala lure behind a banana sinker on a bearing swivel 😉
Great video, soon I will be moving to crescent City Calif, and plan on doing exactly what you did in this video! May I ask what kayak you are in, and any other kayak info you can send. Thanks! Subbed
Nice video. Curious though, why not use a net?
Great fishing my man... You always be catching... I just wonder do u do delta river for fish too?
I never have but might be trying it soon!

I know where that is! Grew up fishing off of those cliffs. Now I know where to take my boat!
Good luck!
What’s the reason behind the blue coloring on some of the ling cod? Kind of crazy that even the meat is blue.
I saw a video on the Discovery channel about it once. I even made a cameo!
Nice catches man! Keep up the kayak fishing videos man, I have a nice kayak and you inspire me to get out more! Helpful tips too! I’ll let you know if I hook up on a nice halibut in my local Humboldt bay. Tight lines bro
I have heard they are doing well up there! Hope you catch a big one.

In the bay, sharks shouldn't be an issue. However, its always a possibility when fishing salt water!
@@DieHardFishing so you mention as a precaution. It makes to men better safe than sorry.

Ever though of doing a group kayak fishing trip?
That would be fun!
I'm a beginner looking into to get Into the sport. I have most of the gear.
Finally the kayak strikes back! Heading to Pillar Point next week w/ 2 buddies in our Hobies. Let you know how we do.
Good luck!!!!
I know you mentioned that hopefully there were no sharks out but have you ever had an encounter with one while out on the kayak?
I have never seen them on the kayak but they are definitely out there. I have seen them while on a boat several times.
Haha hopefully no sharks! What was that you picked off the fin on the last halibut Pare? Another great video. Thanks.
It was a little parasite. Had to make his trip up to the kayak a productive one.
Hey thinking about getting a kayak and wondering what fish finder, battery, and battery case u use?
I have a ray marine dragonfly fish finder and power it using a 12 volt battery.
you central coast? btw I lost a halibut in the same fashion because I wasnt sure if he was gaffable. A net will come in handy for fish like that.
I am based in the Bay Area. I would agree except I don't like to net a halibut because a net can cause what is known as "tail rot". Basically, it damages the tail and exposes it to possible infections
what size is the 3 way swivel?
It's hard to say because every brand is different in terms of sizing. I think a size 1 should do the trick.
Would it be legal to use one of the smaller rock fish as bait?
Absolutely, just so long as it's not one of the undersize lings he caught. ^ +1. Great explanation Dave! I'll add that each rockfish you use as bait must count toward your daily bag limit.
Not telling you what to do...but fish and game can bust you for not having a landing net on a kayak with a min. 18 inch hoop...My friend got fined down here in Monterey. Nice vid.
Never heard of this law?! News to me.... And I kayak fish all over...sometimes in Monterey?!?!?!
I have heard of this law but I wonder how strictly it is enforced. I see tons of boats and kayaks out there fishing with no net on board.
I called fish and game...they told me all vessels need a landing net . I called cuz I seen a lot of guys out with no net.
What kind of kayak?
It is a Hobie Outback. It is a fishing machine!
Nice video 💯
Thanks for watching!
You'll get them next time bro!🎣
Thanks!
that was a bad ass video there my friend!, you got bigger balls than me, my ass would'nt be out there in a kayak, can you say SHARK BAIT? LMAO
As long as the sharks aren't around, it's a fun adventure!
Isn't it scary being out in the ocean just in your kayak?
As long as the sharks aren't there we are all good!
Better luck next time! Raid that freezer! :P
Thanks for watching!
Dang!
Yeah!
Gulp, look for ledges and troll parallel to it.
Thanks for the tip!
Why not have a net on you
I bet your family would of chowd those rock fish, that Brown looked good.Nice trolling rig, you should do another video changing colors or add scents.
That is a good idea! I will give it a shot!
No keepers but still good action!
Still a fun day out there!
Fish Market is more reliable and the choices are many
But not as fresh and not as fun!!!
Any indian ever give u nickname ice walker or anything? Haha
lol, not yet
