Man, you're voice is gold. Even if you just read the yellow pages, it would be a hit.
Chuck I don't have a drainage problem and I can watch your videos all day long - awesome stuff, please keep up the good work!
I had the same idea thought out for my backyard swamp. Thank you for professionalism
I put a pop-up discharge on mine. The pump hits it harder than I thought it would, but its more fun to watch. I've been digging for two weeks but I finished my yard today. Thanks for the videos - big help!
Your videos are great. I live in eastern North Carolina and its super wet where I live. I was able to put a sump pump and drainage system in my crawl space with the help of your videos. Saved me a ton of money and my system is working great.
Thanks a lot for these videos! I started my French drain with a sump pump today. Hopefully I’ll be done tomorrow!
Thanks Chuck!! You're a great instructor and confidence builder!?
Chuck man you taught me everything I know. I installed several m98s since I got severely flooded by Hurricane Ida .
I think you are the greatest!! Thanks for a great video and sharing your knowledge.
I'm pretty sure I've seen you do this a 100 times and yet I still enjoy all the videos! Thanks Chuck!
you saved me 2,000 dollars thank you sooooo muchhhhhhhhhhh
I respect the fact he encourages you to do it yourself if you can. Not like most sekfserving contractors
Your videos have helped me start my own business, thank you. I'm also in Florida, would love to help for a day and buy your lunch.
Thanks for adding the testing portions of video. Happy New Year Chuck!
Thanks for teaching!
Great Job, thank you!
When digging a trench, dig straight down to the desired depth and make a slot. Start shaving dirt off the wall of the trench in the direction you want to go. Pick up loose shaved dirt from bottom of trench and toss out. It's much easier than trying to dig dirt horizontally off the bottom of a trench.
Nice work
You’re videos are awesome and so helpful Chuck! Question. Just like on this video I’m installing a sump pump in my backyard pushing toward the sidewalk. Can I switch from 1 1/2 to 2” running towards the sidewalk?
As always great information, Thanks Chuck, thanks for educating the masses
You are great at teaching! You make it look so easy. I'm inspired.
quick question, for the northern states where winter will freeze the piping, what do do you recommend for winterization? do I have to remove the entire sump pump during the fall?
Hey Chuck any chance you’d make a trip to Pa? I could really use your expertise.
Thanks, Chuck.
You do such a wonderful work you should start uploading more videos Chuck you have a gift my friend.👍👍
@Apple Drains Chuck I am about to do a whole system in my yard. I cannot seem to find this good basin you have at lowes? Can you give us a part number for this basin? I need a large one. I also am trying to find the best m98 - should I buy direct on that?
Am I correct that this was solid corrugated pipe as opposed to perforated? I saw no gravel, so I assume solid.
I always enjoy watching your videos and this one is especially interesting to me because in the future, I would like to purchase a new sump pump and connect it to my downspouts that will eventually lead to a pop-up drain in my backyard.
Do you have any videos for cold climates in winter? All this water would freeze and burst pipe.
ZOLLER owes you a commission because of you I have purchased 3 so far.
Will your discharge just flow into that catch basin next to it ?
Is there a need to drill holes in the bottom of the sump basin if placing in the yard. The area it’s going to be placed in gets wet too.
Hey, Chuck, thanks. I want to see you put a lid on a plastic bucket, the grate that allows water in from top, plus I want to see how the bucket looks after it is properly covered.
Attn: Steve Satterwhite.
Glad to have found you great vids!
Great where do you get the tank & pump?
Chuck can I come down and work with you?? Ha. I live in Pittsburgh but I’m free in the winters !
Anybody that lives in colder Northern states do this? would there be a problem with water freezing?
As I was watching your video I noticed that you drilled a small hole in the riser that comes out of the sump pump before it goes into the check valve. I installed a sump pump in my basement a few years ago and I do not seem to have a problem even though I did not drill the hole. Am I going to be OK or have I just been lucky so far
Would this work up north in Cleveland?
Hi Chuck, loving all your videos. On this one I thought the Zoeller had a drain hole so you dont need to drill a weep hole in the vent pipe, can you clarify why you drilled one here. thanks
Great vid. Thank you! 👍
Great detailed video. Good way to end 2018.
Cheers Chuck from New Zealand
What size PVC would you recommend for a 5400 GPH pump (Drummond 3/4 HP) for a 30ft outlet run?
1 1/2” or 2” is more than enough
Thanks Chuck I learn a lot from you
Hi Chuck, thanks for all the effort on the videos. I have a question that I have not seen addressed. I am setting up a sump pump in my back yard. I am wondering if i can connect a downspout line and surface collection line in my front yard to sump pump discharge line as it makes its way to the street?
Yes
@@appledrains Thanks!
I have a job starting this week. I have an 18" perforated pipe for my side yard that will be used. The company told me that they will dig down, add stone and then the pipe and stone on top. I asked about plastic or fabric at the very bottom of the trench and was told it wouldnt be used. So they are putting stone on top of dirt, then the pipe then stone again. Is this how iti is done. It needs to be an open french drain at the top due to the volume of water in this area. Please let me know if this sounds right. They will be starting real soon.
Going to be doing this to handle water on a driveway sloped towards my garage. What is the pitch required, or rather bare minimum on the inlet pipe with the catch basins?
Also, how do you secure the sump pit liner in the ground? Surround iw with concrete?
Water runs downhill so do what you can to make that Right! There is no BARE Minimum
Hey Chuck thanks for the videos. Thinking about doing a similar job myself and was wondering what you do for electric to power the pump if its 75+ feet from the nearest power source? Thanks!
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account??
I somehow forgot the login password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Dax Scott instablaster =)
@Seth Andy thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Seth Andy It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my account !
@Dax Scott You are welcome =)
Chuck, I've watched a LOT of your videos. I don't remember seeing you drill that pressure release hole in the riser before. Is that still how you are installing?
yeah i noticed the same
Needed to prevent air lock.
Great teacher.
Thanks chuck for showing us the system work! Keep up the great work.
l like your vedeo thank u and god bliessu
Who makes that particular sump basin? Model number?
Hi Chuck, I think that I have watched all of your videos and I'm about to start my own DIY project in my backyard. I live in Central Texas and we sit on clay belt and the water takes a long time to soak in. I would like to run several catch basins along the back and side of my house to a sump pump to discharge out to the street. So, I wanted to ask you a question: Why don't you use 4" S&D PVC pipe? I feel that I could clean the S&D pipes out easier and it seems that they would last longer. What are your thoughts? Thank you for giving me the confidence to tackle this job by myself.
Hi Steve, In my experience, S&D is pretty much the same as ADS corrugated. They both crush at the same rating. NOTE. we clean Corrugated pipe every day. If it's broken and collapsed, then it's broken and collapsed. Sending a cable down-the-line makes no difference in either pipe. A whole lot HYPE out there about corrugated being weaker.. but you should choose what you feel is better for your job. Cost wise, very little difference. Hope that helps,
Chuck
would that pump survive cold winters, Im in upper michigan
It’s down 2 feet . You could go deeper if needed but I think you’d be fine
Where do you get the 1 1/2" schedule 40 to 3" thin wall PVC at? I need to hook up one of the discharge grates like you used but I searched the internet and can't find anyone that has it. If anyone else knows please fill me in. Thanks.
Exactly. Same problem I have. Did you ever find it ???
You can get them from NDS. ndsprodotcom/PDFs/Catalogs/NDS-Drainage-Catalog-2021.pdf
I wish you would have showed us how the power runs to the sump pump.
Apple Drains, it seems you like corrugated pipe better than PVC. Have you seen much difference in performance between the two?
I live in Texas and have sticky hard pack black clay. Do you think it is possible to make the mistake of putting the sump basin too close to the house? Could that affect the stability of the foundation? I don't expect a specific answer, just a general answer. My sump is currently located about 1 foot from the house. Would it be safer for the foundation if I moved it further away from the foundation?
No you’re good.
Hey man I like your videos. What is the brand of the basin that you are using on this video? Thanks
They sell those exact basins at lowes and home depot
hey, what brand or model is that sump basin?
Did you find out?
i had no idea you could have a sump pump outside
Can I send you some pictures of my yard and give me some advice?
How does one keel the basins clean and debris free year round?
Pop the top off and clean them out.
What size is that donut adapter
Inch and a half to 3 inch, but it is thin walled to schedule 40
So do you have like a lowes/ hd part or sku # that would b awesome
Jeah new video
100'th like!!!
You should list the names of the parts used..
I am in Texas trying to do this as a DIY project, but I can't seem to find the sump basin/liner you use. Can you tell me the supplier I can order it from? Thanks. Great videos!
Lowes
The sad part is how much this homeowner paid someone to do it wrong the first time 😫
