Volvo bought Seven Marine and promptly stopped making the 7s. Why they took a bath on that sale idk. Mercury took up the slack when they came out with their 7.6L 600hp 2 speed V12 at a weight of 1250lbs. Mercury also touted a V10 @500hp but nothing has come out so far. A 50' Formula 500 with 4x600s runs right @70mph.
That stabilization system is a money grab. Don’t work well at high speeds and when really shitty out it can’t keep up with the hull movement. Water ballast port starboard The sea is always on your port or starboard make the sea side heavy
Interesting, the price and top speeds of these overly fancy boats. I live in South Africa and own a 1967 Impala racer with a short shaft 50hp Mercury outboard motor. New it probably cost less than $2k, with a full tank (10 gal) it weighs under well under 500 pounds. On flat water on a quiet day it tops out at just over 60 mph, going with the current and a little wind pushing it will push over 70mph. It was built by West Coast Marine in USA.

The 7 marine dry weight is 1094 lbs and the Mercs dry weight is 668. thats the big problem with the 7 marine engines
