I cannot ignore the color of my skin, or skip over it just for the sake of the discomfort of those who don't like mentioning race. I will always talk about my background and my experiences having dark skin because it helps you guys and it also helps brands. When dark skinned people watch Patrick Star, James Charles, Bretman Rock, or Nikkie Tutorial's videos on youtube we don't leave comments stating how left out we feel. We simply enjoy their content even if we can't always relate to every single thing they share. Jackie, you have opened my eyes to so many problems about racism, colorism, and equality. Of course I was aware of them, but not the depth of the problems. As a Caucasian , fifteen year old girl I feel more educated in these areas because of you. I would also like to add, I didn’t know skin bleaching was even a thing anymore but because of your video and documentary recommendation I’m more educated and infuriated by it. I appreciate you telling it how it is and bringing awareness to these problems. I don’t feel unwelcome here, I feel very welcome, educated, and entertained. Even though we are obviously not the same skin color I have still learned so many things not only about problems pertaining to skin color in cosmetics and the world in general, but about makeup and how to do it better. You are also hilarious and quite entertaining. I enjoy everything about this channel and I very much appreciate you. Keep doing what you’re doing❤️

Dude I’m super pale but my undertone is neutral and most foundations on my look super yellow or super pink. Someone needs to tell these brands what undertones are.

I recently moved in with my boyfriend and just last week I overheard him randomly singing the Jackie chant from another room. He said it had been stuck in his head all day at work. I died! 😂😂😂 It's catchy af!
I’m “nude” a lot of the time. In this day and age we should all know that “nude” is *NOT* a color!! Like what do you mean nude?! Smh that isn’t a single color🤦🏽♀️
Omg this!!! I've been a dancer, choreographer, and worked in dance retail and the tan/beige tights are always labeled as "nude!" For some people that's fine but they look ridiculous on pale girls like me as well as POC dancers. Like sis our legs and arms are looking like two different people lol! Shout out to clothing and makeup companies that are making many more shades of "nude"
idk if you English speaking guys have the same thing, but here in Germany we have a colour (as in fricking coloured pencils for kids) that's called "Hautfarbe", so "skincolour".... I'm half African and half German and ever since I was in elementary school I felt so offended that when I was trying to draw myself I couldn't use the "skincolour" pencil, like everyone else. just felt like sharing that with you
You better continue to call out these brands! I’m here for numbered foundations instead of “colors”. It’s one of the reasons Fenty came in and dominated💁🏾♀️
We need lighter shades for basically translucent white people that doesn’t look like you’ve plastered your face with yellow or pink paint and darker shades for POC. Brands neglect people who are dark and neglect people who are super pale ☹️
Excuse me but whose commenting that they are white and don’t feel welcome here I am as white as white can be, like paper white, used to get sent home from school because they thought I was sick white, lightest foundation is always too dark white, you can see all my veins white, need ultra dark fake tan white, *and this channel is my home* You’re my big sister you just don’t realise it
Amy Sargent Seriously! I am dead ass white and I relate more with Auntie Jackie, Nyma, and Thataylaa. All the girls at opposite shade ranges. Even the lightest shades pop weird as fuck colors on me. How does white turn orange? Seeing I’m not the only one makes me feel like I’m not crazy! I’ve been confused for 15 years since I started wearing makeup about why there were only 20 tan shades and that was it! We need more influencers talking about these weird shades. How do people not get that bringing attention to the bad improves things for everyone?!
Amy Sargent ahhh me too! If I ever didn’t want to stay at school - I’d just take my make up off and go to the nurse “ohmygosh honey you’re so pale! Do you need to go home?”
@@shimetta152 where? Seriously asking because I have a really weird undertone where it's like a neutral pale olive. I have bits of blue, green and pink undertones and have never found ANYTHING that matches. Either it matches my cool but is "ivory" or something way too pale or it matches my olive but is ungodly dark.
You can buy color pigments in different colors and different shades of those colors. Sometimes when a foundation is too yellow for me, I add purple to neutralize it and then add pink or red to make it more suitable for me since I’m a cool undertone. It’s actually pretty neat. I use the ones from Temptu
You’d think it was rocket science. It’s obvious to me. Like the morphe debacle...going on what Amanda ensing Said she was given one shade and told to use it. So formulating the undertones etc had nothing to do with it. They literally just used darker skin women to represent how ‘inclusive’ they are without actually consulting them to formulate products that work!! X
Viewers: how can you be a makeup channel and not talk about what shade you use and if it works for you? All beauty channels do and talk about it if it makes them glow, makes them dry and dull, etc. Are you uncomfortable when Jaclyn Hill talks about how pale she is? Or when James says he needs a tan? Why does a black woman commenting about how the color is supposed to be marketed as a “deep dark color” is too light for her skin? I’m genuinely confused. Calm down
I feel like deep down people KNOW THIS is common sense, and just leave these comments for the reaction. It seriously doesn't make any sense to talk about complexion products and NOT mention the obvious...my complexion!
Personally I love your channel coz of your sense of humour, but I’ve also learnt A LOT about undertones and white privilege in the makeup industry. I’m white as white and sis we are out here LEARNING and GROWING while these other girls are feeling salty and stale. Can’t relate
Abby Lu Loader was just going to comment that too. I’ve learned so much from Jackie about how privileged I really am with my skin tone. I don’t get white people being pissy about her talking about something that affects her and millions of other people.
I love that you are taking this as an opportunity to learn and grow! This is seriously what need from all people of all races, ethnicities, genders etc!!!!💙💙💙💙
Nobody chooses the colour of their skin but we each choose how to treat others and how we stand up to the unjust. I love that you never go easy on brands and products that aren’t doing the most for EVERYONE. Personally, I think the diversity in skin tone is absolutely beautiful, and it infuriates me that so many people choose this of all things to hate on. It’s completely senseless.
Yes, I wish I knew more people like you. I can go in the local Freds or Dollar general and even neighberhood walmarts. And sadly, being a brown girl, I see not one brand for my medium brown skin. Even though I love my highend brands, do occasionally grap drugstore makeup. Its like their saying, "Lets not bother with those shades." I will be writing a letter soon.
I am a white women and quite honestly i love her content. I love how in depth she goes. It frustrates me that there is a ton of shades that white women can choose from but for people who are darker have like 5 shades to choose from. If people like her dont speak out about the products and the injustice , the companies will think they are doing just fine and that its fine it be "colorblind" . if you do not feel welcomed then you simply are apart of the problem. If you do no feel welcomed then just leave (:
I'm glad Milk stepped up on their responsibility as a brand. This is what should be done. It helps no one if you just take em off PR and continue cuz people aren't waiting for yall to step up. New brands are coming in the gate including everyone!
Can we all just agree that Jackie and all her fellow brown girls in the makeup industry just needa start their own makeup company?!?! Can yall imagine how beautiful that shade range would be?!?!
@@mariettasasnitch3306 i mean why cant there be more than one? theres probably like 50 different make up brands for white people but only like 3 for brown girls?? i'm just saying Jackie would probably make some bomb ass makeup for us brown girls
I don’t really understand why people wouldn’t like your channel for being “white” as a white women I really enjoy your content and it’s nice to see your opinions and your outlook on life because it shows that equality has not been reached yet and we can all work towards it . Love you ❤️
I agree I'm white (kinda I'm mixed) and I love hearing her view point. Its important for me to understand what it's like for black people in the beauty community. Also enjoy her content so much!
Sia There is NOOO reason white women should feel uncomfortable here, and it disturbs me that some are. Auntie Jackie does not insult whites as a whole. She simply believes in equality as a black women. She also covers racial inequality in the beauty community. To think that anyone feels uncomfortable here because they are white is disturbing and shows that the must be incredibly insecure and scared of equality. When you are used to being privileged, equality seems like oppression, and that seems to be the case.
So my 1 1/2 year old son always comes running from whatever he is doing when he hears Jackie singing her name😂😂 It's actually hilarious! He runs in, stares, sometimes dances, sometimes smiles, sometimes straight face, and then gets back to his life😂😂 Don't stop - it brings laughter and entertainment to people of all ages!!
Glen CoCo if you could read you’d know he doesn’t watch the videos. However, if he did there would be absolutely no problem with that. Ignorant questions!

I'm half African and half German and ever since I was in elementary school I felt so offended that when I was trying to draw myself I couldn't use the "skincolour" pencil, like everyone else.
just felt like sharing that with you
@@malimusimu5641 in Spanish we have "color piel", literally meaning "skin tone", and it's basically warm toned light beige. How ridiculous!
I don't know why, but I'd never thought of that before, but hearing it out loud makes so so much sense.

Sometimes common sense isn't common, especially for makeup companies. That's why we need people to speak the obvious.
“When Dolly Parton wrote the preamble” took me out LMAO
Leah Nicole I screamed when she said it 😂😂😂
Which preamble tho😅

Your name I'M CRYING🤣
You better continue to call out these brands! I’m here for numbered foundations instead of “colors”. It’s one of the reasons Fenty came in and dominated💁🏾♀️
Yvonne Mugure yup! Fenty and Lancôme all day !
We need lighter shades for basically translucent white people that doesn’t look like you’ve plastered your face with yellow or pink paint and darker shades for POC. Brands neglect people who are dark and neglect people who are super pale ☹️
I've learned more on Jackie's channel about poc history and problems than I ever have in school.
Excuse me but whose commenting that they are white and don’t feel welcome here
I am as white as white can be, like paper white, used to get sent home from school because they thought I was sick white, lightest foundation is always too dark white, you can see all my veins white, need ultra dark fake tan white, *and this channel is my home*
You’re my big sister you just don’t realise it
Amy Sargent Seriously!
Amy Sargent 😂😂 aww 💖
Totally the same!!! I live for Jackie!!!!!
Amen. Never felt unwelcome by aunt Jackie!
Amy Sargent ahhh me too! If I ever didn’t want to stay at school - I’d just take my make up off and go to the nurse “ohmygosh honey you’re so pale! Do you need to go home?”
THE COSTUME CHANGES ARE 11 OUT OF 10
“ I speak English, I speak French & I speak Try Me” -> A Mood!
I felt that!!!...lol
Imagine a foundation of all shades with no undertones, and you add drops to pick the undertone you want according to your complexion 💕
Make it happen ❤
Thats a thing lol
@@shimetta152 where? Seriously asking because I have a really weird undertone where it's like a neutral pale olive. I have bits of blue, green and pink undertones and have never found ANYTHING that matches. Either it matches my cool but is "ivory" or something way too pale or it matches my olive but is ungodly dark.
@@rayneb2595 i think its called foundation mixing pigment
It comes in yellow, red, blue
You can mix it in your foundation to make different undertones
You can buy color pigments in different colors and different shades of those colors. Sometimes when a foundation is too yellow for me, I add purple to neutralize it and then add pink or red to make it more suitable for me since I’m a cool undertone. It’s actually pretty neat. I use the ones from Temptu
*"Hire Black people, if not at least people with dark skin"* - Aunt Jackie has Spoken makeup companies!
dude you're STUNNING!
KMesha Shebaa everybody needs to say this. 💖

Calm down
I felt this comment in my soul 😌😌😌
Thank you.

Shanna Schneider from my experience it’s more a reaction of guilt and having too much pride to just take a step back and learn 🤷♀️
I love that you are taking this as an opportunity to learn and grow! This is seriously what need from all people of all races, ethnicities, genders etc!!!!💙💙💙💙
Abby Lu Loader agreed. I always tell people if you’re offended by it, it’s probably because there’s a bit of truth in it for you.
Shanna Schneider me @ every male that doesn’t like the Gillette ad haha
Why cant the names just be numbers? like fenty?? It's way easier to look for 5 than mochachino frappe nutmeg
I agree, I like numbers. especially when brands expand their line. I can tell exactly where a new shade falls based on what number it is

Foundation shades be like "deep, dark, DEEPDARK, DARKDEEP"
Jazmyn i read this with jackies voice lmaoooo

Literally Mac colors. I have 2 bronzers...one is dark and one is deep dark. 😓
Jackie is dragging these brands AND educating us AND making us laugh all in one video I'm here for this
Haley Casperson She’s very talented. Sounds like someone has been checking for her and she had to show them she do this

Can we all just agree that Jackie and all her fellow brown girls in the makeup industry just needa start their own makeup company?!?! Can yall imagine how beautiful that shade range would be?!?!
Mariane 22 Lol.Yes it would be called Fenty 😂. Still some gaps in the range but it’s only been a little over a year. Room to improve

I agree with this completely!

@@Poppin-film Disregarding the whole "this is a black makeup channel and there are millions of white makeup channels" thing, the literal definition of racism is prejudice against a group/person due to their race. Its just usually not as common/as horrible.

I would love to see a more in depth video on how you "make it work" when your foundation shade is off. Sounds like it'd be helpful for when we grab the wrong shade online but can't return (or are too lazy to lol). But I mean, brands should also just start making shades in a variety of undertones for everyone sooooo
That would be cool.

and yet we get disrespected the most, and cared about the least :( I hate how black women have to champion for everyone in this industry even though it isn't reciprocated
@@jackieaina EXACTLY! And the notion that "We're strong! We can handle it!" That idea has made people so dismissive of us and our struggle. Strong black woman this, strong black woman that, like we're not human too!
@@jackieaina It's impossible for me to understand why companies refuse to cater to darker skin tones. If they understood profit as much as they claim, they would understand that there are millions of people willing to pay for makeup products that actually match their skin color. If they don't do it out of decency/courtesy they should do this out of profit, which seems to be the common motivator for big name brands.
Anyway, keep the good work. Many women need the motivation you give by speaking about these important issues.
