Man, the intensity of that terror site. I love OG xcom. You don't get the edge of your seat feeling like that with new xcom. You just feel like superheroes and not squishy humans defending desperately against an overwhelming alien menace.
The same here. UFO:Enemy Unknown (X-COM:Ufo Defense), and X-COM:Terror from the deep are masterpieces of course. The third one (X-COM3:Apocalypse) is slightly different game from many points of view, so many hardcore X-COM fans don't like it as it is a bit different. They say the graphics and whatever was not good. But for me as for you, Apocalypse is really perfect game, loved it, beaten it few times, and returning to it time to time. Even to the "x-com 1,2 games" but more often returning to Apocalypse. :-)
The glitch wasn't that. (Or maybe there was other glitch too.) If you started with superhuman difficulty, saved and loaded your game. The difficulty defaulted to normal. It was just that hard when it came in 1994 that people thought they were playing superhuman.
@EricTheKei No, the glitch was the reverse; it automatically set to normal difficulty. This led to reports that the game was too easy, and caused them to overcompensate in TFTD making it far too hard.
Hi nook , Good game that is difficult to play , but have you tried openxcom warhammer40k mod with rosigma submod? I think you might like this particular mod.
I've always LOVED this game! Watch out for those *$#@%ed Chryssalids! Ever lost 3 guys in one turn to one of those bad boys? A truly *amazing* game! A side tip I got from a strategy guide for this in an era when the game was still current -- YMMV: *In theory,* at least, an Auto Shot (3 lower-accuracy attacks) has a better chance of landing *at least one hit* than Snap. This likely does not apply if you use that OX option that causes accuracy to drop off at long range.
Played a lot of Xcom1 and 2 back in the 90s with my dad and friends. Funny story: my best friend told me later that he didn't know about saves during skirmish with aliens. Thats why i laugh each time someone complains me about darksouls or bloodborne series.
Well, It's not that bad. At least you stay long enough that they can attack the base. My first and only Super Human run was when I was a kid, back then I was 12-13 I think. Playing it normally for a few weeks and kind of want to try it. Very early in the game, I found an Ethereal. And the way I found it was really bad. The meta back then (between the cousins) We prime the bomb on the first turn to save time unit when we go into action. 1st Alien turn, got that mind control thing like in 1:42:08 One guy panics, Drops the bombs, Explodes the whole ship. Everyone dies. Never play Super Human again.
recently started playing xcom2012 again... the play style feels terrible if youre expecting ufo defense, more graphics less everything else. aliens exploit being discovered and have crazy acc while youre missing 80% shots, getting one shot'd causing whole team panic(all 3 people). you cant even shoot at the environment without rockets. it is like a puppet show compared to this actual strategy game, and even with all the simplified gameplay they complicated the base and expansions with that whole ant-farm doll-house idea for no reason or payoff and took away basedefense showing your custom layout, the discovery of which was a memorable moment from the original. enemy unknown is selling for 95% off, idk if its even worth a dollar, ufo defense is $5 and honestly still worth $15 after 30 years

So much classic XCOM on UA-cam recently! GOOD!
Xcom apocalypse is hands down my favorite of all xcom!! I've played and beaten that game so many times and still to this day return to it for more.
I never played it, I played XCOM and TFTD so many times byt never Apocalipse.
Could not play it. Graphics were horrible imho :D

I loved this game but it was ridiculously hard even mid game. Way better than the more recent x com
Ditto. Keep in mind that a glitch in the original, unmodded game was that the difficulty jumped to Superhuman and stayed there after the first fight.
The glitch wasn't that. (Or maybe there was other glitch too.) If you started with superhuman difficulty, saved and loaded your game. The difficulty defaulted to normal. It was just that hard when it came in 1994 that people thought they were playing superhuman.
My worst experiences was opening up the rangers hanger and been immediately rocked to death, happened oh so many times!

Ahh. I could have sworn it was the reverse. TIL ^_^
The Mods for this game are amazing! I AM CURRENTLY trying the X-files one!
1:12:28 I'd forgotten that rocket explosions have a "skull" animation :)

If you know anyone who went through XCOM without losing anyone. Then they had the mystical save button.
very good memories, thank you
One of my favorite games of all time
Missing a shot with 100% was always the most fun.
@@davidbeppler3032 lol. Fun and sometimes frustrating.

OX option?
By the way. Always kneel before shot for a extra accuracy bonus!
@@victor_silva6142 Open XCOM option ;)
That option originates from UFOExtender, actually. :P

Now this is a CLASSIC game!!
If you continue with this run, you are obligated to make a solder 'Endersblade' and feed him to a Chryssalid.
That's on you good sir. On replay, it was over. Is he called 'Commander' then?
I love this game!!!!
I never bothered with the explosives, because a rookies snap reaction shot can total the whole team.
54:30 Moment of silence for the six fallen 😅
GG WP! That mind control was always the most annoying feature in Xcom.
Gotta defend against those ufos
is there some mod that revamps the interface?
Choosing Super Human ...
Check the length ...
1 hour 52 minute video.
This is going to be fun.

Sad you did not liked it, i love xcom ufo defense, xcom enemy unknown and xcom2 war of the chosen
It's a tactical RPG with a strategic overlay, not a tactical milsim with RPG elements and a strategic overlay. Approach it as such.
X-Com. par with KeeperRL. :) Wrong. Better
The game is cheating. I never got my base attacked on the first month...
I think he had an option enabled that makes the aliens more aggressively seek out your bases. In other words, he told the game to cheat ^_^
