One of the best memories of my life is a week long solo camping trip at the mogollon rim in AZ. I didn't say a word or see a soul the whole time. It was magic.
*_whispers_* put your coffee ground in the pot and boil and top with a little cold water. The grounds will sink to the bottom *_whispers quieter_* put some Wild Turkey in your coffee 😉
EDIT: Cuervo, the song is so beautiful. Cuenta Estrellas reminded me of the night of the Moon eclipse. I saw my very first shooting star that early morning. I was so incredibly moved by the sight that took me four decades to see. I will forever remember. Now this song is forever attached to the memory. Simply beautiful!
James you have Joe Robinet beat as far as the over nights go! Great content my brother. Im a fireman/emt here in Alabama and enjoy your content while my downtime at work.
Great video, I'm so grateful to see you driving your truck without the senseless damage caused by @$$holes. Totally diggin' Cuervo's tunes as well. Keep up the great work my friends!
Love the videos, you come across as the "normal guy", but paired up with Cuervo, it is just gold! It's a Larry Darryl & Darryl kind of schtick. Keep up the good work.
Huge fan of the camping videos, and the cooking outdoors! Nothing better than cooking out in the mountains. For us desert rats, under 45° is freezing arctic weather😂...I agree. I bring a 20° goose down quilt, a propane heater ( if necessary) , and, HotHands warmers ( the lap-size are life savers!!), wearing a warm layer from head to toe. Being a cold sleeper sucks sometimes. 😂 But can't keep me from the mountains, damnit!
Good to see someone getting out there in the winter; a bit jealous. Living where winter camping means dealing with Cold Rain and Mud I get cabin fever this time of year. Keep living the dream!
What you said is exactly what I do in my 20s and 30s I was always outdoors around 35 I developed a heart issue and it made me afraid of going off grid for days so I always watch your videos and enjoy you just having a good time . Cheers brother 🍺
I was up there back in September. Lots of rain and the elk bugled all night long, it was awesome. What was disturbing was the amount of trash that has been left behind at the campgrounds.
One other suggestion, take that knife and flat edge file and you can make the spine 90 degrees in no time. God bless bro. and thanks for the info and videos.
Yo, J F you must drive the CNN , MSNBC type folks totally nuts. You are living your life good, in the outdoors and having fun! I appreciate your knife reviews!! Keep up the great work and pleasant tunes!!
Just a suggestion, you could just bring a 32-ounce Gatorade bottle of your favorite flavor and then use the empty bottle to empty your bladder. That way you don't have to go outside in the cold and disturb your sleep. God bless bro.
Lucky you. I'm familiar with that area went thru when going to Carlsbad Caverns and familiar with Alamogordo NM nearby. Learning so much by watching your channel and you are so current with everything going on these days. 🍷Merlot to you.
Sweet, thanks for the video! Cloudcroft was always a must go when visiting my son in Alamogordo when he was in the service! The audio tracks made it feel as though Cuervo was there! Now if you'll excuse me I have the urge to go buy a New York Strip :-)
Wish I was down there now. Like you, I get cold easily. Up here in Idaho, it's freezing here all day and I hate it. I prefer the environment down there, I do love the mountains here though, and Spring, Summer and Fall are wonderful here. Great video James. Cheers.
People in Minnesota are praying the permafrost melts today. Eldest brother lived there for a bit . He couldn’t figure out why he didn’t see any other hunters where he was at . It was like 30 below 😜 Have a great evening
So I work in the Oilfield and am currently drilling out near Eunice, Jal, Hobbs, & Carlsbad area. I have been planning on camping in the area. Pretty arid and all desert. I have a friend that has a place near Cloudcroft. I have thought about heading that way. Your video here has made my mind up. I will be camping that area. Another awesome video James. Thank you.
Love me some new mexico james, very cool. Most of the time we need a slicer and a wood beater. So carrying two blades is standard for me. In bugout i’ll put up with lack of slicing ability for a do all blade. Great you are putting out merch. 🇺🇸💪🏻
A nice community in cloudcroft. The brewery and the restaurants, the cliffs, log cabins. The mescalero/Ruidoso area is also very nice in the summer months. There's mountain lions being a major downside. Lol at the Colorado Kool aid. I know someone who calls it broke back beer. I always stop at two beers because I don't like getting up to use the restroom more than once at night.
Hello Mr James. I'm new here just found your videos. Beautiful country out there. I always did love New Mexico. I was a truck driver for about 10 year's. I miss getting out there. Perhaps I may still get a chance to revisit. One of my favorite places is Tucumcari New Mexico. I have had some special things happen to me there. Spiritual. Keep up the good work and stay safe my friend.
Hey James, It's good to see you, but I sure missed Cuervo. I really enjoy the different types of food you cook while your camping. Also want to mention, that we will be getting a mug and shirt. Hopefully the shirts come in black and white? Also love the fact you get to go to New Mexico to camp. That is the best state for all outdoor activities, and getting into the wilderness. Thanks again!
Lol eating same lunch. I was on day hike with limited eyesight in the Organs. Awesome experience for my family &I. Now I 'watch' yours and other bush videos. Your koolaid lol Great video James.
Hola brother! I've been a fan for about three years. Your close to my home, New Mexico. Hope to see you guys camp in the Gila. I'd love to show you guys some killer spots.
I'm with you there in stomach... Tonight i seared a new york steak and some mac and chese... fresh jalapeno pepper on the side. New yorks are great...mmmm
Question for you guys: how do you handle cleanup of your cooking gear? I carry a Specter 5 gallon water can in my vehicle, but sometimes I backpack in and don't have access to that much water. Depending where I am, I have used sand and/or grasses. Doesn't get very clean and don't usually have the water to spare (especially in NM). Thanks in advance!
Interesting tortilla dish. Looked good! Looked like a great time! Beautiful countryside. God bless PS: what was that tortilla dish called? Gonna have to try that!
I am a big fan of your vids. Being from the mountains of Pennsylvania, I'm still learning out here( almost 14 yrs. now ) and coming up with new things. I notice ya'll travel sometimes, and if your ever in my neck of the woods , which is southeastern Cochise Co. , I'd love to do a camp with ya'll. Vid it or not, exchange ideas, chill n enjoy. get at me if of interest. JJ P.S. love the Elmer Fud hat n as long as theres no foot in a found boot, no need to relocate your camp!
Hey James, nice simple dinner looked great. I'm with you on the orange knife. A little to short to be a good slicer as well as being a little to wide. Does the one light have 90 degree swivel feature to it? I have the larger version of the catapult and love. I use it to shine up gator that are in the river by my house. Nice video can't wait to see reviews. From Florida!
Wasn’t invited again I’m starting to think u hate me 😭. That bag looks like the pathfinder pack really like it but I already use the medium savotta jaakari pack which is 1000 denier everywhere on the pack very tough plenty of room great looking just enough Molle so it doesn’t look ultra tactical chest and waist straps good padding and looks great but can be pricey for some at just over $200 but you won’t have to worry about it wearing out and having to buy another $100 bag when the savotta jaakari could probably last for life as long as u don’t cook it on the fire pit so bring food bags taste bad anyway and aren’t nutritious.
One of the best memories of my life is a week long solo camping trip at the mogollon rim in AZ. I didn't say a word or see a soul the whole time. It was magic.
Thank You for the invite to camp w you tonight 😊
Mighty pretty country. Thanks for taking us along with you.
*_whispers_* put your coffee ground in the pot and boil and top with a little cold water. The grounds will sink to the bottom *_whispers quieter_* put some Wild Turkey in your coffee 😉
The sunsets in the desert is always the most amazing thing. Anyone who has not seen a few desert sunsets needs to
EDIT:

Simply beautiful!
thats beautiful. those are memories worth cherishing
Man I’m jealous I haven’t been camping in forever, I think the best part of any trip is having some strong drinks around the fire before lights out.
Thanks James
Cloudcroft is one of my favorite places in the world, very beautiful, definitely a great choice
Couldn't agree more! ncie and quiet, a good escape from the burning desert
James you have Joe Robinet beat as far as the over nights go! Great content my brother. Im a fireman/emt here in Alabama and enjoy your content while my downtime at work.
defintely hoping to do more solo overnighters next year so i need to start practicing ASAP

Good to see someone getting out there in the winter; a bit jealous. Living where winter camping means dealing with Cold Rain and Mud I get cabin fever this time of year. Keep living the dream!

Started liking your channel because, being a desert rat myself, I was interested in learning desert survival skills (food, shelter, dangers, etc.)
So I work in the Oilfield and am currently drilling out near Eunice, Jal, Hobbs, & Carlsbad area. I have been planning on camping in the area. Pretty arid and all desert. Have you ever tried the camp fire grill that has a griddle on one half?
That's one heavy dose of coffee.

Do a review on the sling pack and gear. Great video. God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.
