yeah, other rpgs also have npcs that look the same, like in DQ11, that's also available on Switch, but they use them in a more clever way. I don't remember seeing the same npcs at the same time, these Pokemon games on the other hand have no shame in showing identical people all the time...
Or it could have been funny if they had the same trainer walk up again, but with different wigs. It would have been a funny gag, and would have saved them a bit of time if they took hair models from other characters, like maybe a Marnie wig, or a Hop wig (it'd be funny if you could still see her hair lower down because she wouldn't have enough time to put it on properly). But, nope, Gamefreak is still lazy, so they couldn't actually add cool details. Who has time for that?

I feel like way more Pokemon should have gotten Gigantiamax forms. At the very least give every Pokemon that had a Mega Evolution one. Oh and at 25:50 ish, Inteleon's Snipe Shot did more damage due to it's ability Torrent. It boosts Water Type moves damage if it's health is below 1/3. If you didn't know already. Yeah, the basic Starter ability actually got some use here, so that's something.

If you really want a Pokémon game without all the cut content, check out the Minecraft mod Pixelmon It’s the next best thing we got for an actual Pokémon game that actual has all of the Pokémon in the game (also you can set trees on fire with your fire-type Pokémon, or fly around on your flying-type Pokémon. However, all of the mobs of the base Minecraft game have been removed, so the only way you can get things like wool for beds or spider eyes are from wild Pokémon. So if your level 5 Squirtle faints, then tough luck, cause the only way you can get that baby into fighting monsters for your enjoyment and survival is by reviving it through a revive, going to a Pokecenter found throughout the game’s world, or sleeping on a bed, which can only be made by defeating wild Pokémon that drop things like wool or string. And You can’t fight any of the Pokémon yourself, so things like swords or bows become completely obsolete, so if you think you can just harvest these resources like usual (by manually killing the Pokémon yourself), then no dice. However, once you get some way to revive your Pokémon, the game goes a lot smoother. That’s basically the only hang up I have about it, besides from the fact that you gotta have at least 5-6 Megabytes of RAM available and probably Optifine installed lol since the high quality models take up a lot of memory space. Besides from those two things, the mod’s a pretty fun way of playing Minecraft)

I bought a Switch on day one, throwing caution to the wind on the wake of the WiiU, because I knew down the line I would get my sweet next gen Pokemon game there! And then the good stuff started dropping in BoTW, Odyssey, MHGU, Golf Story, Mario and Rabbids, and so many indies.... I never ended up buying Pokemon Sword And Shield.

Disagree but only in regards to the first 4 gens. All great games. I still think Gen 2 is the best in the series (This includes the remakes) because of the sheer content level in them and them feeling like a passion project after their success with the first games, them genuinely wanting to make a stellar sequel. I will ALWAYS love Gen 2.
@Shawn Macdonald all generations have throw away pokemon. This is nothing unique to gen 2. But if the only 'bad' thing it had was throw away pokemon then that's not much of an issue. The main roster in johto isn't all that far off from gen 1 in terms of what you get and when you get it, if anything it's a bit better. But if you're basing this purely on other people's playthrough then the argument feels really weak. You can get through the main game even with the 'throwaways'. Can in any generation. However if people are playing the 'optimal way' then yeah, of course you'll see the same stuff over and over. The only real bad thing is competitive teams were pretty bland in pokemon up until recently when we have so much variety and strategies to pull from. Though even there many, many pokemon are 'throwaway'

The fact that he actually checked in with them and got the okay for making that his sponsorship segment is pretty impressive. And, while I personally prefer headphones to earbuds because of the way my ears are that make it more than just an issue of how they fit, Raycon really is simply something that's going to be legitimately needed and useful for the majority of people at some point in time or another that is of respectable quality, unlike a freemium game, which for a not insignificant fraction of the human population is going to be as responsible to expose oneself to as unrestricted opium on a basic brain chemistry reaction level.
I find it very lazy that they couldn't even make the graphics look better and even Pokemon snap remake looks better. It just seems as if game freak got so used to making money for every generation that now they just don't care and will throw everything to make money. I'm honestly disappointed. I just became a pokemon fan and seeing the game series do this is honestly disappointing.

Also fortunately it has a tutorial for any newcomer or returning players. It can be a bit tedious.Ex. if you have a card that can be activated it'll keep giving you notification of it until you activate it.
No, it's just Game Freak not making AI follow the rules of the game. AI have unlimited PP. You can't ever stall out a troublesome move in hopes that they can't use it anymore. They ALWAYS have access to it.
If you think about it: -Pokemon Go only had Gen 1 Pokemon when starting out -The first spin-off game Meltan/Melmetal could battle in was LGPE (a Gen 1 remake) -LGPE is also a Gen 7 game since Alolan Forms are in it -The first main line game where Meltan/Melmetal could battle is Gen 8. I want to say that Meltan is a Gen 7 Pokemon, but... the ratio is 2:1:1. Gen 1 wins again??.
Your design rant reminds me of Incineroar. I still don't buy the heel crap and firmly believe he was going to be another fire fighting Pokemon, but GameFreak realized they'd get so much shit. Speaking of Incineroar and fan evolutions, someone made him a Sabertooth, which was so cool. And why is Arcanine so small?! He's supposed to be a 6 feet doggo!
On rillaboom’s design- I can’t remember who made it, but I saw fan art of a potential design route they’d go, called “bongorilla” and it was MUCH better. Still humanoid looking, but he had a tail that doubled as a big ol drum and hammer, and a rock hard pectoral area that let him drum on his chest in a really cool way. Rillaboom is still by favorite gen 8 starter but MAN this could’ve been better.

22:30 it sucks so much because some of those moves did matter. Even the weaker ones for early game. The *WORST* omissions by far are hidden power and f-ing RETURN. Why return man? honestly the lack of return was one of my biggest breaking points about this game, return was my favorite move because I'm a sap who loves to use the power of friendship to destroy pokemon, and also its fun watching the damage slowly go up the longer you have the pokemon, makes me feel closer to them

So here's the issue with how following pokemon works in this game, the speed the Pokemon follow you at is based on THAT Pokemon's speed stat so... that shiny mimikyu isn't catching up with you any time soon

@@radionightmare8696 DLC is typical for most video games now. The game itself is playable on its own, you don't NEED the DLC. There are just features behind the DLC. It is like Iceborne for Monster Hunter. Just Iceborne was actually good. But there are a ton of features and monsters locked behind Iceborne. If you're buying MHW, you may as well jump right to Iceborne. In fact, Pokemon in general is similar to MH. MH released games frequently, and they all looked almost the same while adding monsters and small upgrades to mechanics. The difference is MH has enjoyable gameplay, and then released MHW (which was like, BOTW to the Zelda series). SWSH felt like it was mean to be their BOTW, but it just fell too short of that goal.

Awkward thing with Opal's audition - The player can't wear pink during the gym challenge - There are no pink clothes for the player to obtain until you beat Opal The game is saying 'well there needs to be SOMETHING the protagonist is bad at to make him/her seem more down to earth' by essentially using plot conveniences
I did my second playthrough with an all Fairy team and I might as well have taken a bath in pink paint and Opal has the AUDACITY to tell me I dont fit the bill for fairy type gym leader.
It arguably started back in gen 5, but really kicked off with gen 6 that pokemon changed its standard design philosophy for starters to the "Big and tough, cool and sleek, cute and feminine" trio that dominates Japanese media marketing as the most reliable way to capture as many preferences as possible, instead of making inherrantly interesting designs. It's only natural that the designs have steadily become more anthropomorphic over this time, as it is easier to represent these ideals through humanized forms.
The starters have abilities that boosts damage of their main type when they're low on HP. So once Inteleon was low his attacks did about 33% more damage
It's funny because the Grookey line became my new favorite Pokemon and I have plushes of Grookey, Thwackey and Rillaboom but I can absolutely see where he's coming from with his criticism. Deoxys used to be my favorite Pokemon because it was just so cool to see an alien Pokemon. They're just the coolest design with 4 different forms!! But funney monkey stole my heart. It's also funny because I ADORE Hop and his story line. It kind of reminds me of Cheren becoming a Gym Leader but Hop becomes a Pokemon professor! Not as well executed but there's a lot of interesting things with Hop, like how his family only has pictures of Leon up lol.

Anyways, in the gen 6 and 7 games, they did this cool thing where when you walk into a pokemon center on your birthday, the nurse would celebrate your birthday by setting off streamers and decorations and a huge cake on the monitor! She would wish you a happy birthday and thank you for coming for all these years! THE MUSIC WOULD EVEN CHANGE!!! It was a nice surprise on your birthday that made you happy! Guess what, they COMPLETELY TOOK IT OUT in the switch games! WHY?! It was so amazing and made me feel SPECIAL! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REMOVE IT GAME FREAK?! WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!

I got an ad for this game while rewatching this, lol. Btw, two alpha builds of this game were leaked, one from 2018 and one from 2017. Uh... the 2018 build had 21 Pokemon, some aren't in the final game. It apparently had more scenery (like a chiseling of the Gigantimax Toxtricity(?) at the bridge where it should be) that got removed later on. It had a moveable camera throughout the entire game, not just the wild area. Girl rotom pokedex form, the design looks... I can see why it got removed. And the logo on the title screen looks more like the other logos of any other mainline Japanese Pokémon game than the bland logo we ended up getting. The titlescreen also has other Pokemon that didn't end up in the final version, as well as a mega evolution even though dynamax was implemented into this build already, maybe just a leftover. Oh, and it has... 1 song, the gym battle song, and it differs from the final game? The build is interesting to say the least, shocking that we got it as recent as a year after the game came out, but I'll take it. I picked Grookey because I looked up what all the final evolutions looked like...unfortunately I didn't realize I was looking at really convincing fan art. I was really looking forward to a cool ape monster beating things with a stick it held with it's tail. Instead I got a lame gorilla with a drum.

Speaking about Wooloo's evolution Dubwool I was so disappointed when it just evolves into another ram/sheep normal type. I saw these really cool fan evolutions online which made Wooloo evolve into a wolf referencing the whole "wolf in sheep's clothing" phrase and if Gamefreak took that idea I would've loved to use a Wooloo on my team. Too bad they went for the most boring design. It's kinda like the problem I have with Herdier, if you were to show Dubwool's design to someone and they had no knowledge about Pokémon they would just think it's fanart for a normal ram.
... Huh. I didn't know the challenges for the different gyms (Fighting vs Ghost and Rock vs Ice (Sword and Shield respectively)) were the exact same, just with a different color scheme and a couple changes here and there... Man no wonder I dropped Sword faster than any pokemon game I've played...

I feel like way more Pokemon should have gotten Gigantiamax forms. At the very least give every Pokemon that had a Mega Evolution one.
Oh and at 25:50 ish, Inteleon's Snipe Shot did more damage due to it's ability Torrent. It boosts Water Type moves damage if it's health is below 1/3. If you didn't know already. Yeah, the basic Starter ability actually got some use here, so that's something.
Though, if it used snipe shot more than 24 times then the AI is cheating regardless.
Apparently some data was found in the game code that suggests megas and z moves are coming back in Crown Tundra.

It’s the next best thing we got for an actual Pokémon game that actual has all of the Pokémon in the game (also you can set trees on fire with your fire-type Pokémon, or fly around on your flying-type Pokémon. However, all of the mobs of the base Minecraft game have been removed, so the only way you can get things like wool for beds or spider eyes are from wild Pokémon. So if your level 5 Squirtle faints, then tough luck, cause the only way you can get that baby into fighting monsters for your enjoyment and survival is by reviving it through a revive, going to a Pokecenter found throughout the game’s world, or sleeping on a bed, which can only be made by defeating wild Pokémon that drop things like wool or string. And You can’t fight any of the Pokémon yourself, so things like swords or bows become completely obsolete, so if you think you can just harvest these resources like usual (by manually killing the Pokémon yourself), then no dice. However, once you get some way to revive your Pokémon, the game goes a lot smoother. That’s basically the only hang up I have about it, besides from the fact that you gotta have at least 5-6 Megabytes of RAM available and probably Optifine installed lol since the high quality models take up a lot of memory space. Besides from those two things, the mod’s a pretty fun way of playing Minecraft)

Disagree but only in regards to the first 4 gens. All great games. I still think Gen 2 is the best in the series (This includes the remakes) because of the sheer content level in them and them feeling like a passion project after their success with the first games, them genuinely wanting to make a stellar sequel. I will ALWAYS love Gen 2.
@Shawn Macdonald all generations have throw away pokemon. This is nothing unique to gen 2. But if the only 'bad' thing it had was throw away pokemon then that's not much of an issue. The main roster in johto isn't all that far off from gen 1 in terms of what you get and when you get it, if anything it's a bit better. But if you're basing this purely on other people's playthrough then the argument feels really weak. You can get through the main game even with the 'throwaways'. Can in any generation. However if people are playing the 'optimal way' then yeah, of course you'll see the same stuff over and over.
The only real bad thing is competitive teams were pretty bland in pokemon up until recently when we have so much variety and strategies to pull from. Though even there many, many pokemon are 'throwaway'

And, while I personally prefer headphones to earbuds because of the way my ears are that make it more than just an issue of how they fit, Raycon really is simply something that's going to be legitimately needed and useful for the majority of people at some point in time or another that is of respectable quality, unlike a freemium game, which for a not insignificant fraction of the human population is going to be as responsible to expose oneself to as unrestricted opium on a basic brain chemistry reaction level.

Also fortunately it has a tutorial for any newcomer or returning players. On rillaboom’s design- I can’t remember who made it, but I saw fan art of a potential design route they’d go, called “bongorilla” and it was MUCH better. Still humanoid looking, but he had a tail that doubled as a big ol drum and hammer, and a rock hard pectoral area that let him drum on his chest in a really cool way. Rillaboom is still by favorite gen 8 starter but MAN this could’ve been better.

22:30 it sucks so much because some of those moves did matter. Even the weaker ones for early game. The *WORST* omissions by far are hidden power and f-ing RETURN. Why return man? Because you'd have to put in frustration too. No. No you don't. Throw it in the garbage bin with hold hands. And don't get me started on hidden power.
Speaking from the perspective of a competitive player, HP was great for creative coverage. Now, movesets are even MORE polarizing.
honestly the lack of return was one of my biggest breaking points about this game, return was my favorite move because I'm a sap who loves to use the power of friendship to destroy pokemon, and also its fun watching the damage slowly go up the longer you have the pokemon, makes me feel closer to them

@@radionightmare8696 DLC is typical for most video games now. The game itself is playable on its own, you don't NEED the DLC. There are just features behind the DLC.
It is like Iceborne for Monster Hunter. Just Iceborne was actually good. But there are a ton of features and monsters locked behind Iceborne. If you're buying MHW, you may as well jump right to Iceborne.
In fact, Pokemon in general is similar to MH. MH released games frequently, and they all looked almost the same while adding monsters and small upgrades to mechanics. The difference is MH has enjoyable gameplay, and then released MHW (which was like, BOTW to the Zelda series). SWSH felt like it was mean to be their BOTW, but it just fell too short of that goal.

I did my second playthrough with an all Fairy team and I might as well have taken a bath in pink paint and Opal has the AUDACITY to tell me I dont fit the bill for fairy type gym leader.

It arguably started back in gen 5, but really kicked off with gen 6 that pokemon changed its standard design philosophy for starters to the "Big and tough, cool and sleek, cute and feminine" trio that dominates Japanese media marketing as the most reliable way to capture as many preferences as possible, instead of making inherrantly interesting designs. It's only natural that the designs have steadily become more anthropomorphic over this time, as it is easier to represent these ideals through humanized forms.

The starters have abilities that boosts damage of their main type when they're low on HP. So once Inteleon was low his attacks did about 33% more damage
It's funny because the Grookey line became my new favorite Pokemon and I have plushes of Grookey, Thwackey and Rillaboom but I can absolutely see where he's coming from with his criticism.
Deoxys used to be my favorite Pokemon because it was just so cool to see an alien Pokemon. They're just the coolest design with 4 different forms!!

I got an ad for this game while rewatching this, lol.
Btw, two alpha builds of this game were leaked, one from 2018 and one from 2017. Uh... the 2018 build had 21 Pokemon, some aren't in the final game. It apparently had more scenery (like a chiseling of the Gigantimax Toxtricity(?) at the bridge where it should be) that got removed later on. It had a moveable camera throughout the entire game, not just the wild area. Girl rotom pokedex form, the design looks... I can see why it got removed. And the logo on the title screen looks more like the other logos of any other mainline Japanese Pokémon game than the bland logo we ended up getting. The titlescreen also has other Pokemon that didn't end up in the final version, as well as a mega evolution even though dynamax was implemented into this build already, maybe just a leftover. In fact, for what it is, The Gym Challenge in this game was the most fun I've had playing Pokemon in a long time.... which is why I didn't even finish the game after getting all the gym badges. :/

You know, as someone who likes the Sword and Shield games, I’m surprised at how much I enjoy this series and can’t wait for the next part! I knew that some people who worked on these games were pretty lazy with it, even before watching your video, but this series really did open my eyes. I still like the games, though, and I still refuse to believe that ZERO talent or passion or effort went into them, you know? Keep up the great work, bro!

in vanilluxe's defense, its actually just an icicle with snow on top to keep itself cold, so its not literal ice cream, it just looks like it. also i really dont understand were all the hate for these food pokemon comes from, i personally don't mind them at all.

I picked Grookey because I looked up what all the final evolutions looked like...unfortunately I didn't realize I was looking at really convincing fan art. I was really looking forward to a cool ape monster beating things with a stick it held with it's tail. Instead I got a lame gorilla with a drum.

Did the thumbnail cha- I think the thumbnail changed- why did the thimbnail change, what even was it before, I looked at the other vids' thumbnails to jog my memory by elimination but I cant remember, so then I question if it even changed in the first place, can somebody help me with this, Im gonna lose sleep at night if I dont remember what the thumbnail looked like before.
Speaking about Wooloo's evolution Dubwool I was so disappointed when it just evolves into another ram/sheep normal type. I saw these really cool fan evolutions online which made Wooloo evolve into a wolf referencing the whole "wolf in sheep's clothing" phrase and if Gamefreak took that idea I would've loved to use a Wooloo on my team. Too bad they went for the most boring design. It's kinda like the problem I have with Herdier, if you were to show Dubwool's design to someone and they had no knowledge about Pokémon they would just think it's fanart for a normal ram.

... Huh. I didn't know the challenges for the different gyms (Fighting vs Ghost and Rock vs Ice (Sword and Shield respectively)) were the exact same, just with a different color scheme and a couple changes here and there... Man no wonder I dropped Sword faster than any pokemon game I've played...
