    In this video I want to go over the 10 biggest mistakes I hear beginner psytrance producers make in their music. I'll start talking about the production phase in the beginning of the video & then move on to the mixing stage. Originally I wanted to end this video talking about mastering but I do thing there are more important points, which I decided to cover instead.
    ==================================================
    Projektor is an alias I started around august 2019. Under this alias I started posting psytrance music with a clear emphasis on theming and a more progressive or mainstream style than other producers. The goal of the Projektor alias is to release memorable music which works well on the dancefloor. Around january 2020 I started posting tutorials and other helpful videos on youtube again under the Projektor alias. Together with these videos I started selling several products which can be used to improve your productions. I have always believed music production knowledge should be shared and that is now one of my main goals with the Projektor alias. Currently Projektor is the only alias under which I release music, videos or products but this might change in the future!

    Oh man, this was a major breakthrough for me. Thank you so much! I've been stuck for far too long on getting the K+B right before I start writing and I never get anywhere. Such an obvious thing but it 100% clicked for me when you pointed out that you have to tweak those after everything is added anyway. So don't get stuck on getting them perfect before you even have the other elements of the mix! My chains are broken and creativity set free! Thanks!

    If you right click in the timeline and select "insert time signature change", you can have your fill in between your 16 bar sections withiut messing up the grids.

    • @Projektor_music
      @Projektor_music  4 місяці тому +1

      As mentioned around 10:00 We don't want the fill to offset the structure of the track but rather indicate the start of a new section, so for 1 bar of fill your drop will be 15 bars, for 2 bars of fill your drop will be 14 bars. there are some exceptions to this (like any rule in music) but for 95% of situations this will be the case. This video will explain more: ua-cam.com/video/OYzU5VXekpM/v-deo.html
      Also keep in mind that generally it sounds best if you end the drop with a final kick to finish the musica phrasing of the kick & bass, I also mention this in this video (the one I'm commenting on, not the one I linked here)

      update: if the trend from the first 10 hours continue, this video should outperform my ultimate guide to KB video, which would be great! it means I might have found a better formula for creating long format videos (more scripting & better idea generation)

  • @pitcht
    @pitcht 4 місяці тому

    Thanks for the video; it was very informative as always! Would you recommend using the 16bar rule separations in other genres of edm too? Let's say psy techno for example.

    • @Projektor_music
      @Projektor_music  4 місяці тому

      for techno probably yes, for other genres like bigroom or DnB you might find yourself leaning towards 8 bars instead but the rule can still be applied in the same way. it's mainly important for DJingas it makes your tracks easier to mix into other tracks following the same rule

    • @pitcht
      @pitcht 4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the advice! Yea, this makes sense to me now. Imo generally, DJ friendly tracks have to be a prio.

    Nice video! How do you approach scales and the notes you use? Do you try to stay on the root note, or do you switch to other notes and form some kind of harmony with it?

    • @Projektor_music
      @Projektor_music  4 місяці тому +1

      other notes, harmony? what are those things :) no psytrance is almost exclusively written in the root note of the track. I do use some melodic elements but I'm a small minority, you can learn more here: ua-cam.com/video/5Ih551_-cVc/v-deo.html

    Nice video learned quite a few important things in this one! i need so much help with knowing when to drop in grid synths i saw somewhere that it was best to drop in grid synths when the snares come in but i cant for the life of me make that make sense.. also my drops always sound boring for the first 16 bars not knowing what to add in there without making it too much 🥲😅

    • @Projektor_music
      @Projektor_music  4 місяці тому

      For the first 16 bars one shots are the way to go. In my opinion this is where the most experimental stuff happens in regard to sound design, so yeah, it will be harder. Just experiment and if you really don't know, may e try some omnisphere patches. Also you may have noticed in the production project I show how many different sounds there are in the one shot group, not all of those are in the first 16 bars but many are so just keep adding interesting stuff.
      For the grid synths maybe it is time for another video on that topic. There are a few on my channel but I don't believe I cover grid synths placement in regards to a full arrangement...

    • @CosaNostraBeats87
      @CosaNostraBeats87 4 місяці тому

      I see! I had just kept the first 16 bars kick and bass only for a Long time because i dident know what to add i dident want to start with a melody straight out of the gate so yea… i Will try and see if i Can find or make some good oneshots to fit in there 🥳
      I watched all the grid synth videos you made and i did learn alot from Them but theres still a few things that im missing but i tend to overthink things aswell 😅 another grid synth video would be dope tho!

      @Projektor_music  4 місяці тому

      @@CosaNostraBeats87 i'll add grid synths to my list but it might take a bit before I get to it, idk my next schedule yet... keep in mind not all tracks need grid synths...
