Secret for getting the baby laid down and not waking them up... Throw a light blanket over your shoulder where it will be between you and the baby, then hold the baby - warming the blanket up as you get the baby to sleep. Then when the baby is asleep, lay both the blanket and the baby down. Laying a sleeping baby down in a chilly bed will usually wake them up and the blanket warmed by your body will also carry you scent and make it more comforting.

My babies are 35 and 33 years old. I remember stressing over potty training, getting them to sleep in their own cribs, weening them off the bottle and all the other things that we were expected to do as parents back then. My advice to you is that if I knew how fast it was gonna go, I wouldn’t have stressed over any of it. I would have let them sleep with us til they were ready to sleep on their own. I would have carried them more just because. They grow up so quick so please please don’t listen to anyone and do what is best for your baby and you. Cherish every second, every moment because once it’s gone, it’s gone!!! They are only yours for such a short while, then they grow up!!! So enjoy and don’t stress over any of it.

My grandmother used to tell me I was gonna spoil my daughter by holding her too much. She ended up being extremely independent and well adjusted. I held my boys a lot too but I still had to work when they were babies. They also have always been very confident and well adjusted. I think most parents just do the best they know how in the moment. There are things I look back on and wish I had done differently but I kept them alive and happy haha.

I had a homebirth, breastfed, co-slept and used a sling to carry them, but I also think hospital births, bottles, cribs, and baby seats are equally valuable parenting tools. The important thing is to be kind, gentle, and have open conversations with your children. Mine is an incredible young adult now, and I'm super proud of the kind, gentle, good communicator they have become.

A walker that is a bouncer is really helpful for the legs. I personally used a bouncer chair and a rocking and glider chair. It's a matter of what you have space for and what works for you and your child. I think letting the child learn how to self-soothed Is important to allow them to be independent. I know the feeling of hearing them cry is hard at first. I have two grown kids whom are 23 and soon to be 21. They are very well adjusted and I know it was a team effort from family.

I've been watching your videos and admire your lifestyle. I'm 81 yrs old and have spent over 50 yrs. camping and traveling and repairing my many different types of RVs and trailers. Perhaps one of the most important things I learned was how to make roof repairs and seal vents and torn roof materials. Anyway, what I learned was the best and easiest repair that's long lasting is ETERNABOND. You don't have to remove any existing bonding material or sand or anything. Only wipe the area you are going to put the Eternabond on with lacquer thinner. You can purchase eternabond in 2", 4" and 6" widths. Be very careful because when you put it on, it will not come off. You can apply right over the top of it but when placed down it will not come off. It will definitely take care of your problem.

Have you guys ever seen these videos about earth bag home construction? You just fill these bags and tamp them down, stack them up and you have a house. You can make it with straight walls or round, and be really creative. This family has built earth bag homes for each of their four children and themselves. They're really neat. There is some stucco involved. Check it out. It's an upgrade of the rammed earth construction that was popular in the 70's and featured in Mother Earth News. I think it would be perfect for Lola's Farm to experiment with.

Helpful hint for future silicone jobs.
Once you lay your bead down, lightly spray the whole area with soapy water, and the silicone will only stick to the surfaces it touched before spraying it. And you can wipe it in with your finger like it’s water clean up Dap. And the mess just wipes up.

@@51-FS It is not necessary to go straight vertical. With a slight incline the exhaust will rush round two 90's without a problem. I've made rocket mass heaters and ran the exhaust pipe 8' on the horizontal. Straight up will only burn the wood faster and when it goes out in the middle of the night... all your heat will rush straight up and outside. An exhaust out the roof is foolish in my opinion, leaks, maintenance on weather stripping... it's a nightmare.

There's also a "storm collar" which slides down around the outside of the chimney. Then you just seal between the storm collar and the chimney. This allows you to lift up the chimney (if ever needed) without having to reseal the storm collar -- high temp sealant is recommended. :)

They have swing beds. At least they had these when my now 35 year old was a baby. Just look into it. My two youngest loved the wind up swings and would fall right as sleep. The sound situation really helps a lot as well as it keeps them from hearing a sound that wakes them up. It is all about creating routines. It could be rain, ocean, white static, forest sounds etc. Even a radio station where they talk a lot or news station so the baby can become familiar with listening to Spanish. I use the rain sounds myself to this day and it helps me sleep well as I am a very light sleeper. The old fashion play pens were large enough where you could keep some toys, blankets, music wind up toys, etc. The walls are mesh and the baby can watch you guys work and close at sight. It also allows for tummy ti e which is a great exercise. I love the jumping Jack too, that is great. Good job guys you are doing a great job. Congratulations!

Most of the rubber boots for chimney or pipe penetrations for steel roofing have more screws. Usually enough to go about 1 1/2" on center all the way around. If you have any more leaks you might try installing more screws to hold the boot tighter to the steel. With the way it showed on the video you might get some separation between the boot and the steel due to movement from expansion and contraction of two different materials. The other thing is to put the boot on with a diamond look rather than square. The diamond shape sheds the water a little bit easier.

My first daughter needed motion too! We used the swing, which helped , but then had to use a hairdryer for the noise while she was swinging and she quit crying! Hubby would turn hair dryer off and she would wail! Turn dryer on and silence. Now this was 25 yrs ago , but we r still married with 2 more girls to boot. We survived and u will 2, but the swing was battery operated and she loved! We went thru many hair dryers I can assure u! U two will figure out what works best for u! Y’all r fabulous parents and a joy 🤩 to see! Love 💕 u all like ur my own!!! Keep GLOWING

Sadie obviously loves her jumping thing. When my daughter was a baby she would jump forward and then let go and swing haha! She loved it! Things are really looking good! I think my favorite parts are the steps and the rock wall beside them. The steps are done SO well and look great!

My daughter did not sleep more than 5 hrs straight until she was five. In kindergarten. I became an early childhood educator and massaging their ankles really calms some down for a good nap. Also, keeping the room as dark as possible.

The jumper is perfect for Sadie. When my daughter was a baby, we had so much fun and laughed our heads off at her in it. Oh, and she loved it as well. Great idea! So glad you were able to get the roof repaired. No fun at all, but you powered through it. Can't decide if the naked neighbors would be a deterrent or a selling point. 🤣
