    I’m currently taking online courses and prepping for the A+ cert. I have been an automotive technician(mechanic) for the past 8 years, I’ve always had a desire to work in technology. In the automotive field I do most of the troubleshooting and diagnosis on vehicle electrical systems, so I have the basic troubleshooting process down!

    I like proving technical supports to employees/professionals when I'm with them on the phone, helping them through email, or when I'm out there on the field! Since they are professionals, it's so nice and easy to talk to them since they won't yell or get mad at you unlike working with customers, for example.

One thing I would recommend is maybe reaching out to some local non profits and tell them you are looking to gain more experience in the IT field... tell them you are certified and are willing to volunteer your time... With that I would start attending networking events and talking with people... they may have more local ideas.... hope this is helpful

I am currently in rolled and I’m taking information technology and I am very interested to enter the IT field. I am a veteran of the army and I was also a tech while I served. I have three questions number one how does a person become qualified for the work in this field? Number two what is the typical workday entails ?
    number three what is the potential growth in this field?

  • @garycollins1157
    @garycollins1157 3 роки тому +1

    Well what makes me more interested in the IT industry is really the problem solving aspect of it. Also I been around computers most of the time and I code them as more of a side hobby. I have been interested in the IT specialist field for a while and I am trying to figure out if I need an A+ cert or not because a couple of the jobs I been browsing didn't list it. Also pretty soon I am going to obtain a AS degree in computer science. I think it wouldn't hurt to get an A+ cert as well. I have been studying a little bit of A+ when I am free. The hardware I think is straightforward but when it comes to networks and things in that nature you really have to know the ins and outs of them of how the network works. Which is rather a complex topic I think especially if your working in a server room or as a network engineer. Nowadays you have everything going to the cloud which is just a step up from everyone has been doing in the past in terms of network management. To be honest I am more of a hands on person which does play another role in why I am interested in information technology.

      Jermo 262 it’s a big learning curve in the beginning but if you enjoy problem solving you will be fine. Just keep in mind everything is going to the cloud right now, infrastructure, platforms and software. So my advice is get knowledgeable now about Azure and AWS, or it you’re going the network path, get your CCNA at a minimum

      Honestly nothing at all and everything... title are all over the board in I.T. its crazy.. likely they are very similar jobs but just depends on the company you work for and there responsibilities for that roll.

      This would generally be something like computer repair or support help desk or similar. I'm not sure where you live, but at least in the US you don't really go to a university to study this. This is more of a technical field so a community college/technical school would be where you go for this training.
