- Following on from my previous video, I gave reasons why you SHOULDN’T buy a Mini Cooper S R56, well, in this video I tell you why you SHOULD!

As a cooper s R56 owner its really fun to drive, bought it 2 months ago and fortunately I still haven’t had any problems
That’s good going! Wish I had the same experience! Had nothing but issues with mine throughout our ownership since March 2020.
We sold it last week and I miss it but it’s for the best financially hahah
@@Revved_up_jb can buy a 2011 Mini for $3,000. Looks very good. Woman who is third woman who owned it is going through a divorce and needs to sell it fast. Carfax looked good. Saw normal maintenance over the years but only a timing chain tensioner on it about 4 years ago. Automatic, recent brakes and tires…good buy? Any things to look for?
Just bought my 2011 Mini JCW Coupé (138k on clock) I replaced timing chain, spark plugs, ignition coils, battery, walnut blasting and clutch with a 2-mass flywheel.
I drive daily 390 kilometers on German Autobahn and I just LOVE it. Truly a great car! It’s a drivers car.
They really are! Absolutely love mine! Although I have only replaced timing chain, coils, spark plugs, HPFP, oil filter housing gaskets and turbo feed lines and seals, it still has some issues but it has never let me down! Still brings a smile to my face!

I quit my job as a service manager for BMW Mini, in 2010, every single day i was getting abuse from angry customers, and trying to get warranty jobs sanctioned by the dealership and BMW was a knightmare. Even my then company car, a Mini Cooper embarrassingly broke down on the way home from work one day, it had to be trailered back to dealership, fuel pump failure at only 850 Miles. Would i recommend one based on my experience with them? Absolutely not, unless you have very deep pockets for ongoing repairs. Shame because they certainly are a entertaining fun car to drive, and certainly look good.

I went the safer way, I bought Mini One, but with the 1.4 engine (availiable in some markets). It’s basically 1.4 VTi from Peugeot/Citroen and it has less mechanical issues. The 1.6 without turbo has a bit more flaws and the 1.6 with turbo (called 1.6 THP in PSA group) is the one which has the most issues. Carbon buildups etc. Even though all of these engines have a chain instead of a belt, I chose the 1.4 and the 70kw is ok for driving around town and sometimes on the highway.
Easy to modify with exceptions, swapping the downpipe was a horrendous experience. Would not recommend. Something I would’ve left for a shop to do over myself. I love the outcome it sounds great but taking the heat shield off is so hard due to the small clearance between the radiator and upper heat shield.

Don’t buy a 2008-2011, they’re the reason ppl think MINI are unreliable. The N14 Engine Stay Away !! Dont know what an N14 looks like open the hood if you can see 4 coil looking things in the top of the engine dont buy it. But if it has a nice cover over the top your good you should see no arching coil packs. or UA-cam it.

the mini cooper is a nice looking car not so nice on the inside also absolute trouble nightmare 2010 r56 i had to replace timing chain / transmission solenoids / water leaks in door seems / fuse box shorts and wiper wont turn of but they sure pack a punch are fun like you said
