update the internal time battery , side handle is very eazy There is corrosion that always happens you can actually take it apart and clean with rubbing Alcohol preferably over 80%
The main problem for this cinema cameras is the huge risk for production videos because they have a lot of hours that’s why have that price. Also not support l, but good for fun and parts. Very fun to watch, love it.
What a JOURNEY! Holy cats. (Oh, and henlo cat!) This felt like a thrill ride in an amusement park, only with a wallet attached. Great video! Your sense of humor is my favorite.
Beautiful video, i am so glad it worked for you, it is exciting, btw I don't see any wire going from your (epic x) v mount to the back, or is it well tucked in? What adapter are you using? My question for the epic x not the dragon:)
Thank you! When using the adaptor module and red v-mount plate the electricity is passed through the contacts on the back of the camera, so no cables needed! This is actually what allowed me to get the Dragon running, because the port on the back seems to be busted.
@futc.photography omg thank you! I looked everywhere for that module but couldn't find it, you know what is it called exactly? It is hard to find info on these cameras
@@ayu_anime I got another video no my channel from a few months ago with a very similar name to this one where I go over all the important information and parts you need if you're thinking about getting one :)
It’s pretty old by now and RED is kind of known for charging very high prices for repairs, I don’t think they even offer repairs for this camera anymore
Hey, I had this camera before you! I also bought it from MPB but when I bought it they stated it was in fully working condition. So I paid a bit more than you paid haha. When I got the camera I unfortunately had the same issues you have with the camera, so no power through the side handle and the DC connector.. Glad you got it working! Nice video!
Wooow that's crazy haha, what a small world. Very cool that you found my video about it! Did you test the SDI ports? Or did you never get it to turn on?
@ Haha yes quite a coincidence! I never got it to turn on as I only had an AC adapter and the REDvolt batteries. Have you tried to reinstall the firmware?
@@RubenStuveling Yes I have tried to upgrade the firmware but then my side handle started acting up. I don't think it's an issue with the camera tho, the side handle doesn't want to work on firmware version 6.x for some reason.
You get amazing sensors in the older RED cameras if you're willing to deal with the fact they have nothing else going for them. Dumb proprietary media, overpriced accessories, poorly aged electronics, overheating, fans that sound like a blow dryer, raw only. But it's a great image.
I did have it on there at some point but it didn't register (I cut a lot of additional debugging out of the video), at some point I then cleaned the contacts on the side of the red and then I had a better connection with either of the side handles but the one that came with it still has that sticky d-pad. I am currently using my working side handle with it.
If you’re going video and spending $2,500 for a traditional DSLR/Mirrorless it makes much more sense to get the Z6iii from Nikon, I mean 6k raw internal? And it looks dang good.
Its never a "agreement" its a ultimatum, "submit to our will or we hold your equipment hostage". I dont "agree" to anything i just press the button that lets me operate the equipment i purchased.
Remember, some people spending more than 30.000$ for this. And you becomes the same for 800$. And don't forget, this is the same High quality today es we saw before 10 years.🎉
Love to see the beloved Epic Dragon getting all the love it deserves. My Epic dragon still makes me 20k+ every year on a UW setup
What is a UW setup?

There are old 35mm SLRs which cost more than this! Well done. 🥂
Haha true, that’s a good way to think about it 😄
clean the buttons thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to hopefully bring consistent functionality back
Was just going to suggest this!
I was looking at old a broken RED's the other day and then POOF, you got one
It’s what I do 🤪
Alter Schwede, Du machst krasse Sachen. Ich will auch eine RED! Cooler Kanal
Danke dir! 😊

I didn't think taking it apart would be straight forward so I didn't really think of that, thanks for the tip, definitely gonna try that!
@@futc.photographyif it’s already broken might as well 😂😂.

This video was really fun to watch, nice one! Also I love mpb. Congrats on the sponsor 🙌🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Congratulations for the perseverance and effort! Enjoy your new camera!
Awesome vid, so happy for you, congrats!!!
Thanks so much!!
So there’s fire coming out of the Dragon’s mouth - fire of the good sort - well done !
Thank you for watching!
Love your videos dude, keep doing what you do
I appreciate it!

I've been dying to get a RED scarlet I'm glad the prices are finally coming down

this is CRAZY bro
Wondering why the owner would sell it and not get(insist) red to fix their dodgy expensive product?

Really really inspiring videos... How I wish that there were such stores in Africa where I could be able to buy used RED cameras for such prices...

mpv has MONSTROS for 5k!!!!! dudes...thats a VISTA VISION sensor!
You should check with RED to see how much the back panel repair is
RED is notorious for not servicing older cameras and accessories after people took out loans to buy them
A good contact cleaner will be handy for any electronics just don’t be chipo on the contact cleaner it’s not worth it
Brother if you have to give one of them which one will you give me
