Nice review, and a nice model. I agree that the fans are a little loud, but I'd probably give them a couple of extra credit points for trying something that no one else has had the courage to try. Great job Aurora Miniatures. It's only going to get better..
Excellent informative review of the locomotive ,I think the moving fans are a great idea but I agree with you that I would not run them very often. I have ordered locomotive number 5560 it will take a few weeks before it arrives in the UK.👍😁😁😁😁😁🚂🇬🇧
This is quite a debut for Aurora Miniatures, I got the CN website scheme and I'm just floored by all of its features. The fan sounds are loud, but should be fixable with some CV adjustments, although I haven't heard much in the way of motor noise from mine. All in all, absolutely outstanding model, can't wait for the C30-7 and C36-7 from them!
Great review! I’d argue you make the best, most informative reviews in the industry, so keep up the great work! (Don’t forget to update your logo at the end to 2023!) As for the model I’d agree with all your sentiments. Personally feel the fans are a bit gimmicky, but props to them for innovating and starting what might be the next big trend in the hyper-realistic direction the industry is trending. Hopefully they will be able to optimize this system in future releases, as well as the alternate drive system used to create the realistic traction motor detail; in this review and others the engine seemed rather jerky at various speeds.
Great review. I have the model too and would give it an A- rating, but that's alright for a new company. Do you have a review on the UP 1943? I'd like to see its faults
Says second release in the description... Maybe I'm reading that wrong, but this is the first release of this model. Looking forward to my two arriving hopefully this week or next.
I am overall happy with this model, but surprised that you didn't mention the rather anemic sound out of these. Running next to a few Genesis, BLI, Bowser and even Rapido, these are very tinny and quiet by comparison. In my view, they need a speaker upgrade and I see JT Burke from SSS put out a video today with a replacement that vastly improves the sound. Others have used different speakers to improve. That, the fan motor noise and the couplers are the things that could be improved, but it is a nice model overall.
The ground lights on my model were very dim, so much so that I didn't even notice they were included until pitch black night running. They should come on with track power so no switch to turn on, they used a an acrylic light tube or fiber optic so the light is extremely small on the underside by the center axle on front truck.
I should have been more clear in the video, they're very hard to see with the majority of the lights turned off. Like I didn't even now they were on until I turned the locomotive over.
@@jasonjanise they are not a business. What is their hobby shop name if they are a business? I haven't seen a business name associated with this account.
@Miko Lee so you have to have a "store" to be a business? So you're saying all the online businesses have store fronts? You're comment is almost as stupid as you. Almost. That comment shows you need things written out in crayon
@@jasonjanise I don't even see an online store link. Any type of store. Do you? Why don't you point it out then? Also why don't you quit being a keyboard tough guy. Why don't you look for the name tag Michael Lee at Amherst and come tell me how stupid I am to my face? Bet you won't. I'm at the front entrance of the Mallory Building during the show. Maybe this guy is from the hobby shop in Boone Iowa but he doesn't advertise it if he is. Seems like he's trying to get youtube ad money and free stuff imo.
For a first kick at the can, Aurora Miniatures came out swinging !

Yea that's fair, really a lot of props to them for trying something new.
Proto 2000 did fans back in the day. They used a pulley and belt.
Just received mine today from Spring Creek Models. I am very impressed with it. You are right. The fans are loud.
Right on, but still looks awesome. Thanks for watching!

Awesome! You're gunna love it when it arrives. Thanks for Watching!
Excellent review thanks, really like this locomotive.
Yes, they did a pretty great job. Thanks for watching.
Fantastic review cant wait till we get them here I think from the reviews I’ve seen. Aurora knock this one out of the park hands down. 👍🏻🚂
I think it blew the other ones away for the price you get a lot of extra features that you big brands don’t give you for the high dollar
I'm sure you'll love when it arrives! Thanks for watching.

Yea hopefully the Dash 7's will be just as good! The pictures of their in production freight cars look great too.
@@SideTrackX oh cool, I didn't know they had freight cars in the works, that should be exciting!
Fantastic review of this locomotive, still waiting for mine , soon , going to subscribe your channel
Thanks for watching and appreciate the sub.

Yea, if they can get them quieter then they'll have something special. Thanks for Watching!

nice looking train sounds gr8
Thank you very much!
Great review friend.
Thanks for Watching! Appreciate it!

Thanks for the spot, this is their first release of the Sd60F. That's what I get for copying and pasting descriptions haha

The ones built now will have the new fan system that will be coming out on the new sd50f. There much more quiet
Yeah!!!!!
Thanks for Watching!
You can adjust a CV for the radiator motors to make them quieter per Ben at Aurora.
Any issues with jerky running? Some have reported poor running due to heating issues.
It was definitely more jerky than other locomotives I've purchased, but after about 2 hours of breaking in, it's pretty solid.
do you also review n schale or only ho schale
Mostly HO Scale, very rarely n scale since I took down my n scale layout
❤great loco
My SD60F does not have ground lights. Where should this be located and is there a switch to turn it on?
The ground lights on my model were very dim, so much so that I didn't even notice they were included until pitch black night running. They should come on with track power so no switch to turn on, they used a an acrylic light tube or fiber optic so the light is extremely small on the underside by the center axle on front truck.
Wish i could get an inactive scheem.
300 seems rather cheap for a ho locomotive. Or is that pricey?
If you can see the ground lights during the day, they are probably too bright.
I should have been more clear in the video, they're very hard to see with the majority of the lights turned off. Like I didn't even now they were on until I turned the locomotive over.
top speed seems too slow
Oh look another Aurora Miniatures commercial. Yawn. Lots of work to try and gain some youtube fame and fortune. Trying to build a business I see.
So what are they suppose to do as a new business? Not have any reviews? What a stupid comment. Just another whiner. Yawn
Maybe if everyone really likes them, Aurora might have actually released a good product?
