- I bought a 67 Camaro RS for only $6,500 and we LS swapped it to take to LS Fest East 2020. J&J Auto Wrecking pulled an LS2 out of a SAAB 9-7 Aero, and it's managed by a Holley Terminator X. We rebuilt the original Powerglide transmission, and installed a Posi-Trac differential to send power to both wheels. Now it's off to LS Fest for a weekend of fun, racing, drifting, and then non-stop rain.

Still amazed they have all the "sinkhole specials" on display. I do hope they can be restored.
Some of them were so totally destroyed they were unrecognizable. Manufacturers typically dismantle the stampings during new model changeover. Remaining new stampings are usually rare NOS (new old stock never sold). It's harder than you think to restore cars after so much damage.
GM has no plans beyond the recovery to make any further repairs. GM decided it will be a page in their history book and the show goes on.

Definitely insurance paid out and marked junk/non-repairable salvage and sold /given to the museum.

I got a 74 nova, only mechanical option on the factory 250 inline 6 was power steering- wouldn't give it up for the world.
That's how my 77 nova was. Still miss that car to this day. Wish I still had it.

@@trentdawg2832 you found engines for it. That's what killed mine. I was young and the head cracked and I couldn't find a replacement. It had the integrated head and none to be found.

Welcome to Kentucky, LS Fest is a Hoot, if it has wheels, someone's put an LS Engine in it. You need to come to Louisville next year in the first week of August to the U.S. Street Rod Nationals at the Ky. State Fairgrounds. They're obligated here till 2025, unless they decide to re-up their contract which could be longer.
What an epic time! Looks like a killer event and so happy the Camaro ran and drove. So proud of you guys!

There has only been a handful of cases attributed to Sturgis and the healthcare costs are blown way, way out of proportion. But you can stay afraid if you want too. 8:00 made me think: Before installing any sort of aftermarket air cleaner, watch Banks Power UA-cam channel - Killing a Duramax series. He does a great job explaining how you can kill your build (efficiency wise) by taking intake air from the hot engine compartment.

Yes JR I do love your car, much better than the late model Camaros, with that LS in it with coil-overs, and good paint job, you have one bad ass ride. one thing though, use rust converter on the whole car, or you will be very sorry when your new paint job starts to rust bubble. Ask me how I know. replace all of the seam asealer after you use rust converter. I prefer Epoxy Primer, it is great over a coat of etch primer. then sand everything again, an put PPG paint followed by 3 coats of clear. Colour sand and polish folled by swirl remover and you will have a Freaking perfect Car!
My 78 280Z had a LS swap. Miss that car. That is the car I regretting selling.
I’ve been restoring an ‘85 ramcharger with a 318 and this build has got me really into LS swapping it. I know it’s sacrilegious but the aftermarket support is so tempting

Great show again. On the steering do you have a new style pump with an old steering box? The new pumps put out a lot of pressure compared to the old type. The old steering boxes are light enough with lower pressure.

GM had some power steering units that took 4 to 4 1/4 steering wheel turns to turn the wheels to lock. Been awhile but they were easy to steer with one finger. Later they went to a variable power steering setup that increased the power assist the more you turned the wheel. Maybe somebody knows the full story.

The '83 to '88 Fox bodies are popular favorites and have better engine bays. The '89 to '97 MN12 cars are notoriously difficult to fit V8s into - the shorter, more steeply raked hoods make such installs a real challenge. Ford had to shoehorn a 302 V8 for the '91 models and then again for the 4.6 '94's. It was a tight fit in both instances.
@@houseofno yup.but my 3.8 supercoupe that ran a 14.6@93mph back in 2002 would walk any 5.0 or 4.6 mn12 Thunderbird.
@@pdennis93 Actually it would be a closer race than you're boasting, assuming we're making a stock engine to stock engine comparison (not even going to get into modified engine comparisons). The '89 to '93 SCs made 210 hp. The '91 to '93 5.0L made 200 hp. For '94 to '95, Ford went to a smaller pulley boosting the SC to 230 hp, compared to 215 hp for the 4.6L V8. We're not talking about mindblowing power numbers, especially on such a portly MN12 vehicle platform weighing between 3,600 to 3,800 pounds.
Five to fifteen horsepower difference isn't exactly going to blow any doors off. Furthermore, the large, ungainly heavy MN12 cars were not exactly the best weapon for performance. Now if we were talking about the 32V Intech V8s that went into the '93 to '98 Mark VIIIs, those 280 to 290 hp V8s would really give you something to boast about.
