Lol. Why milk? That's funny stuff. If only they knew how wholesome this band actually is.
This cracks me up. My take is that people are who they are no matter what their intake is. Their upbringing.
The extreme that is Norma Jean is who they are past, present, and future.
They are Suburban bread metal, but that does not define them.
Their old stuff is such a loss of innocence themed chorus to those who lost their way because life is not as cut and dry as they might have thought. Speaking of chorus there’s one chorus that says you “were learning how to live we have been learning how to die.” (“Songs sound much sadder”- Norma Jean)
As a kid feeling my first taste of life divvying out its cards, showed me that pain and loss was distributed to anyone with no rhyme or reason to the effect of whomever is pulling the strings.
This is something that personally hit hard as a young adult until I realized that for me and my perspective, I am only in control of my actions. My righteousness does not necessarily control the outcome of how things unfold. The order to a chaotic world that surrounds us cannot be seen from close up it’s only visible to the one that controls the stars, the hands on the big spoon stirring the pot, if you will.
I know this is super lame but metal helped me find god. The teaching that despite the pain before you take heed in the fact the god is using everything for an outcome that will establish his glory. That chaos is ordered, and arranged, just like metal. To those who focus on metals intensity feel overwhelmed by it, but if you let it take you along for the ride you find the order the meaning you feel it. Its a voice that speaks directly to your soul, in a unique way mind you) not unlike any other music with or without vocals, or visuals.

I'd love to see them listen to different types of metal.
Maybe some heavy metal, power metal, prog metal, thrash metal, black metal, doom metal, ect...
