Another good video David. Every time I watch your videos or go out in my Mirror it strikes me how much fun can be had from a small boat made of plywood.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I love any help you can offer me
@Vivaan Ezequiel I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Great sailing, I learnt to sail by myself in a mirror. Then went on to sailing 34 yacht then on to 45 meters tall ship as first officer. Hopefully we will see more shortly from you.
Thanks for showing. Being local to that area I'm intending to do a very similar passage this year (time & weather permits) so your video has helped enormously. Look forward to any more posts you create. Thanks again.
Thank you for the comment. There is a lot of stuff, but if you are going away for a few days it is very difficult to cut it down. Clothes and food are a particular problem.
Love to see your videos David. Always inspiring. I'd like to add a 3rd voice for a camping setup video. My own aim is to do that but it's some way off for me. I sailed my Mirror for the 1st time last Saturday after much organising. Wonderful. Looking forward to more videos from you. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your videos. I live on the beach in coastal New Hampshire, but not a Mirror in sight. I'd love to have one. Again, thank you, mate!
Excellent, I've been really inspired by your YT work. i'm getting my wooden Mirror ready to start sailing in July. A few minor repairs, paint and varnishing. I've a good anchor getting the safety kit and plan to teach myself. I will be joining DCA once i'm happy with the basics. I too would love to see and do Mirror cruise camping. Thank you for posting.
Thank you for taking time to create this video. I'd love to see a close up walk round of your mirror and haow you have it all set up for cruising. thanks again
Great vid. I've been watching for a couple of years. I wish there was a mirror to be found in New Hampshire, here in the states. But, no luck. Thank you so much!
Yay! More Mirror Cruising vids, btw I rigged a gaff sail with reefing as per your Mirror mods. Works great! And needed it the other day on little Conestogq Lake, Ontario Canada
The topsail makes a worthwhile difference. It is similar to taking out a reef. But it must be adjusted correctly so it is pulling. Without the topsail in strong winds, the low rig makes the boat very easy to control. David
I'm just starting out with my mirror in the river Brue (Bristol Channel). I'm already noticing how a couple of modifications could help. I see you have your mainsheet going to down to the tiller on this video but not some of your others - what have you settled on? And do you think there is any risk of it lifting the tiller/rudder assembly out of it's pintles? Also, you appear to have introduced some friction to the steering allowing you to take your hand off the tiller but I can't see from the video how - can you elaborate on that? Many thanks for your videos which really helped inspire me to get back into sailing and get my mirror
I could try to send you a photo of the friction device on the Mirror Discussion Forum, www.mirrordiscussforum.org/ My tiller is extra strong with very good pintles, so no strength issue. Taking the sheet to the centre makes it much lighter and it avoids it fouling the O/B. I use a big Holt ratchet block. Good luck with the sailing. D
Hi John The gaff rig is very nice for sailing; you can adjust everything and almost play tunes with the sail possibilities. The Gunter is also quite good but the yard is more heavy. The topsail is only used for light conditions, up to F3, so the basic rig is low and small, being ideal for typical UK sea sailng. I have also learned so much about how to handle the gaff sails of a traditional vessel.
Thank you. I am a fan of you for years. My Mirror is a little bit the same as yourse. Same sails and motor. But i have stil not the courage to go om the open sea. I do not trust the strong tide en its influence on the boat.
Thanks for posting. The gorgeous sound of the water reminded me of my mirror ownership 40 years ago.
Thank you Max.
@@msf60khz I bet when you filmed and post this you were unaware of how much pleasure it would give a whole wide range of people ! Thanks again.

@Vivaan Ezequiel it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account !
@Brecken Koa Happy to help =)

I will try to do a boat camping video as two people have asked about it. D
Very enjoyable video. Liked seeing the chart. I opened Google Maps so I could follow along. Thanks!
I cannot get over how much stuff’ you can cram into such a small dinghy

Thank you for the comment. I do see Mirrors advertised in the USA on the New Mirror Discussion Forum. Keep looking!
My favourite video of yours David! Very inspiring.

Thank you, Andy. Just start off gently, row the boat around a bit, then try raising a sail in light winds. Build up experience very slowly.
Thank you for taking time to create this video. I'd love to see a close up walk round of your mirror and haow you have it all set up for cruising. thanks again
HI Craig. Thanks for the comment. I think my three videos called Mirror Mods will show you more detail. Good sailing. D

Hi Patrick. Have a look at this site to search for a Mirror, www.mirrordiscussforum.org/
Thanks - I loved this passage - Keep doing these videos
Thanks for the nice comment. I still sail frequently but I am not making videos at the moment as most topics have been covered.
Checked your channel just yesterday to see if there was anything new! Nice to see this. Would love to see a video where you set up to camp as well...

Well done, david, nice to hear. Good sailing D
@@msf60khz would appreciate details of your boom tent
Brillant video cant wait to do the same trip
Good sailing.
i am impressed ,well done
Excellent!
It just shows you can have fun in a battered old boat it does not have to cost a fortune.
Thank you.
I would like to ask. How much difference your top sail makes verses the small work to raise and lower it? Thx.
The topsail makes a worthwhile difference. It is similar to taking out a reef. But it must be adjusted correctly so it is pulling. Without the topsail in strong winds, the low rig makes the boat very easy to control. David

Great vid, never seen so much kit in a mirror before, what happens if you capsize ? Just show what can be achieved, great stuff
Thank you for the comment. In theory, everything is tied in. How little stuff is possible for a two day camping trip?
Lovely video really good, hope to do it soon....but u couldn't strip the weed from the rudder, Id want it nice and clean for a trip like that.
how do you compare your gaff to the original Gunter? seems a lot of work playing around with that tops'l
Hi John

Thank you for watching my videos. Just do what you are comfortable with - that is good seamanship. Are you in Holland?
Make a video about sailing to the British Indian ocean territory. ;)
Thank you Pacman. Enjoy the holiday!
