    Sailing performance can be predicted by the Bruce Number: either the sail area in square feet divided by the cube root of the displacement in pounds, or the number of Bruces onboard.

    Great deal Bruce!! Brilliant to see you taking this old boat with a long career with the scouts out on the water again. I know you will treat her well and enjoy her.

      @@brucedyson-smith459 sadly no. The kids recently drove up here all the way from tas and are NOT keen to do a long haul again any time soon. Point blank refusal, in fact!

      @@afloatinawoodenboat That’s a shame,they could have come for a sail on Wayfinder with me and with some of the other boats. But I understand they are probably not in the best place at the moment.Maybe we can do a trip up there sometime soon.

      If you change your mind you can always come down for a day or two camping without boats and hitch a ride with us.

    Great video.
    You did well $150.
    That's a nice little NS, if you chose to you could add a spinaker and make it an MG.
    Resident shark??
    Good incentive to stay upright 😂

    Just shows you how $150 a bit of glass, epoxy paint and work and you've got a boat that will take you out on adventures with a load of gear. It really doesn't get much better than that. It was an exceptional deal though, but they are out there, especially with older ply glass boats. If I had the space I've seen a few I would've loved to have bought

    I really enjoy this channel. How much would it have cost a regular person with no fix it skills to get the boat to that point?

    • @brucedyson-smith459
      @brucedyson-smith459  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you I am glad you are enjoying my videos. It is a hard question to answer because it depends who you employ to fix up the boat.
      Without any skills I think it would be worth buying a boat that is ready to be sailed.A similar boat to this in sail away condition would probably cost between 700-1000 Australian dollars.Otherwise try and find a handy friend.

    • @jerbear7952
      @jerbear7952 5 місяців тому

      How would you even answer that? How incompetent are they? Why did they chose a boat as their first project? Why don't they know how to fix simple stuff?

    Goes well for a $150 boat, you beat all of us by miles. You were right about staying out wide at the sand isles, it did get a bit rolly. That was OK, the bounce on the bottom from 3am on wasn`t. Good trip though !
