It IS pretty awesome. There are a number of blogs I've lately been following, and it strikes me that they all show a different level of emotional temperature. You, among them, are the confident, robust hiker who knows he can do it. It makes those rare moments of you showing discomfort or even doubt that much more convincing. In this vid some 'making of', showing just how professional you have become at it. I'm looking forward to your new plans and adventures!

Every time I do a trail, I hike it for Different Reasons. The AT was a way for me to develop as a Hiker, spend 4-6 months with my Wife in a Raw State, & make lots of Friendships along the way by submerging myself in the Hiking Comunity... Success! The PCT was a "Challenge" for me. I wanted to see how far I could push myself, test my limits, & find out what type of Hiker I am. From Day 1 (20 Miles), I went out to Hike Fast & get inside my own head. The hike was truly about Testing Myself... Success! Next year when I Thru-Hike the AZT, it's to shoot a Full-Length Documentary to showcase the Amazing Trail Community, the Raw Beauty/Energy of the trail, & why these National Scenic Trails are so important. Going out to create something that I can give back to the Hiking Community that has given me so much (Read about it here - www.patreon.com/darwinonthetrail)... Meeting people along the way & having "Fun" times is the Bonus that comes along with doing a Thru-Hike. Everyone hikes these trails for different reasons & I always try to represent the True Meaning, Feeling, & Raw Energy of the hike in my videos for the viewer to feel what I'm feeling... Thanks for Watching!
      Hike On,
      Darwin

      Hi Darwin,
First, thanks for your thoughtful and extensive answer. I really appreciate it that you have taken the time to write these words.
Second. I find the words 'true meaning, feeling, raw energy of the hike' very revealing for your approach. You are not out to bare your soul to the public every day, I don't see any artificial tension arcs in your videos, just the hike and the hiking. And, as I said before, I like it a lot.
Some of the other comments under this video suggest you might wish to insert some more interaction with other hikers, show a bit more of the 'works behind the scenes'. I, for one, would be interested to see what you make of that; you could extend, I think, your videos with another 10 minutes, I'm sure that would not negatively affect public interest.
Of course, there is always going to be an element of artifice in what you present on youtube; some stuff is always going to remain hidden, and where you draw the line is your decision. I have read your very polite answers to some rather negative comments under past videos, and I can only admire your tact in dealing with these; in reverse, these type of comments might make you hesitant to be over-sharing. One cannot, I think, live one's entire life under the eye of the camera, there has to be some time and space for yourself, and I get the idea that you are consciously guarding that space: well done for you, again! But (haha, always that 'but') there are aspects about you (and your wife) that intrigue me, like you having been the owner of a pizzeria and of a recording studio. It might be an interesting angle to future videos to use that a little more, for instance, by explaining why that particular pizza you ate at that tank stop restaurant was so very good, or by making an entire video on your music choices. You could insert interviews with people relevant to or interesting for the hiking community, and I also liked the videos that featured Snuggles on her own. Just some ideas. Anyway, keep on developing as a hiker... and as a documentary maker. I'll be watching it!
      Cheers,
      Ton v.O. (m)

The plant at 10:07 is called a snow plant or snow flower (Sarcomas sanguinea). It lacks chlorophyll and therefore cannot photosynthesize. Native to the Sierra Nevada and the Cascades, it has a rather complex parasitic relationship with another plant and a fungi. More information

I also liked seeing other hikers. It would have been interesting as part of your videos to at least get an introduction to them. You hiked with a few of them for a while. What was their story? The dog in the hat was great! So was the llama. All these things, the people and unusual encounters, along with the stunning panaromas are what make the trail so interesting. You’re great too!

It is slang for through, the phrase you might be referring to is to throw up, lol.

Maybe you don't want to bore people with too much detail, but it seems like the videos would be much better with just a few seconds of natural history. What are the trees and bushes you are walking through? What is the geology of the regions? Just a few seconds per episode would make it much more rich.

I actually wish you would have used many of the out takes in your videos. I fully appreciate the difficulty in shooting on through hikes, but felt that they were a bit sterile at times. I like the interactions with other hikers, the crazy winds popping umbrellas, tripods falling, and the other not so pretty things that just happen.
Love to see your videos improve with your monumental achievements and experiences.
Look forward to your next adventure. Peace!

There is plenty more to come. Stick around for the Next One!

Puncturing and wicking blisters: seriously dangerous WRONG ADVICE that's repeated like gospel on hiking channels. ASK ANY DOCTOR WHY.

WOW... This is an unbelievably RUDE comment. You know these videos are free right? No one makes you watch them? Perhaps you can create your own channel, take time out of your life to create videos, & show me how to "Step It Up"..... You should consider Unsubscribing from my channel since it is not up to your standards.
Create or Destroy my friend... I choose to Create.
