    For Ingrid to have married Bruno after all this is truly disturbing! It goes to show how in our society some women with internalised misogony undermine the voice of those who have come forward/ have experienced violence, by purporting to speak for all women, or by stating that the allegations must not be true because the alleged abuser has treated them or some women with respect.

So seems both sides were greedy and mostly bruno wanted to continue his hedonistic ugly lifestyle but couldnt.. what happened afterwards is tragic. Often times their brains have been destroyed by drugs and alcohol from a young age too. A famous soccer player could straight up go to their house and say "I'll fuck your gf, kick your son and set your stuff on fire" and they'll be fine with it because soccer. They'd be willing to kill anyone they saw wearing the rival's team shirt. Learned this for the first time when I was just 12. This man in his early 30's saw me with my mom in a store and "God" apparently told him I was supposed to be his wife.. I spent months running into my house after getting dropped off by my school bus, locking the door and making sure everything was locked, grabbing a box cutter, knife, house phone and then my little sister and sitting in the attic, hiding under boxes and blankets until my mom or husband got home from work. He always sat down the road watching our house until I got off the bus, and he would bang on the doors and windows until about 5mins before one of my parents got home. He actually bought an engagement ring for me and everything. He would leave presents, flowers, letters, etc outside the door or in our mailbox, etc.. Police STILL refused to do anything. Everyone thought so little of her as if the circumstances she was born into was her choice. People tried to silence & diminish her but she shined too bright to be silenced. Her life mattered her to her friends & most importantly her son Bruno. The absolute disregard for life & violence against women is shell-shocking.

    Cases like this really make you wonder how many women are just waved off as liars and publicly mocked, even by the court... but are actually telling the truth. And the wider public won’t begin to accept the truth until decades later, or when the woman in question is already de-d. Ergo: until it’s too late and so much more damage has been done by the perpetrator.
    I only know survivors in real life who never went to the police and only told trusted friends about what happened to them (including myself), and that’s usually the right decision. It just isn’t worth it. Things really have to change, but until then, you’re just not safe either way. At least if you don’t report, you can spare yourself a lot of time and emotional turmoil 😬

    • @em84c
      @em84c 9 місяців тому +4

      I wouldn't report it if I was raped. The whole process sounds traumatic. Getting a rape kit and you don't know if the police will even believe you. Then if it goes to court the defence will bring up all your flaws to say you aren't trustworthy. Just having to talk about something so horrible and personal would be hard enough with a counsellor. Let alone in front of a room full of people, including your attacker! And if it gets media attention it would be even worse. People discussing whether you are lying or not and saying stuff like "she's not even that pretty....why would he rape her!" People say such disgusting things when anonymous.

    i worked for over a year specifically in the family court sector of in the judicial system here in brazil -- we dealed with _dozens_ of child support cases on a daily basis and i can tell you for CERTAIN, 10% of the father's monthly income absolutely is LOWBALLING child support, if it's the man's only child (same logic goes for women if the dad is the one who cares for the baby). the STANDARD is 30% of the parent's monthly income. even if both of the parents enter with a consensual action to settle the child support at 10%, the public ministry representant will NOT agree and argue to raise the percentage.
    side note, even if it were two children (siblings), the standard procedure would be to determine child support to be 30% of the parent's income, so 15% for each -- which is still more than 10%.

I"m Brazilian, and since you covered a Brazilian story so well, with so many details that even many of us weren't aware of, I'd love if you covered more of our stories. There's a national tragedy for us that is kind of forgotten nowadays and nearly unheard of internationally (as of now), the Goiânia Accident. Before Fukushima Daiichi it was the second most serious radiological incident worldwide, after Chernobyl, and it's a very moving and heartbreaking story. I'm a native of that city, Goiânia, and have plenty of relatives who lived through that time.
