God Bless. So my middle child…my wild child …a college graduate ..mid 30’s quit his full time job and moved to the Island of Kauai. We went there on a family vacation and he fell in love with the people the beautiful landscape and lifestyle. He left a good job …house in the city…So many people have asked what is he doing….why is he doing this….he has never sounded happier. He is making money doing construction and living simply and more than anything all the anxiety he suffered with has subsided. I have sent him your video links…he said he likes the way you think about money.😘

I quit my business at 57 because boredom had set in.For thirty years I owned a wholesale distribution business .The insanely monotonous work resulted in me becoming a bit disillusioned.I Have built a stream of passive incomes and have been debt free my entire life. Now all the 24 hours are mine and I am super relaxed , content and happy.I am now a professional artist and have sold a few paintings. Also have started woodworking last year and am getting better at it.There is no joy greater than creating things with your own hands.Cheers from India.

Great video, Mr. Austin Williams. As you know I'm 63 but I know for sure that debt is the boss of one's soul. I make no judgement about others and what they choose to do, but if I had my life to live over again I would never borrow money if at all possible. I also remember so many days at jobs I detested with an eyeball on the clock.
My advice which I didn't take myself is for young people to live within their means and if they can't pay upfront for something, well, simply don't buy it. This includes poor and rich people. For in my days I've known rich people too that have been shackled with debt to pay for their BMWs and fancy clothes and trips to Hawaii. And I've known poor people shackled in other ways.
Freedom is being debt free. Save your pennies or dollars and invest them wisely to gain freedom.
    Enough said.

Best wishes, dude! I'm at a very different life stage, near retirement, but so much of your motivation for quitting your job resonates with me. You hit the nail right on the head for me when you say you decided the only thing really keeping you in your job was the money. My pay and benefits are absolutely the only reason I have continued working instead of living my own life on my own terms! I also see now that this mindset essentially makes me a slave to money - which is not at all who I want to be. I want freedom, not golden handcuffs! Good luck and many blessings on this new chapter, Austin! I liked this stripped down, candid video. I could tell it was just coming from your heart and was delivered as sort of a stream of consciousness, not rehearsed or memorized. I once read or saw on another blog/YT channel regarding the person quitting their stable career and going out into the unknown, they stated simply, "Worst case scenario, it doesn't work out and I just got back and get a stable job again." it's refreshing to reframe it that way....that society's "best case scenario" of people going out to get good, stable, steady careers is the WORST case scenario for those seeking financial freedom! All the best!

Hi Agustín, this is the best decision you have made. My long story short: worked for an american company in Mexico City for about 30 years... made very good money but also made my life miserable. Too much stress, some good bosses other were a nightmare. Finally came one that made the choice to early retire me. In Mexico we have labour benefits. Went out of that company with a good amount of $$$. My house was already paid and now I am finally living LIVING living in freedom. I have my private psychology practice and I love doing this. Life is too short, Agustín, to be miserable. If only I knew 30 years ago. However, I am now living in freedom and still young at 57 (they retired me at 54). Te mando un abrazo y gracias por tus videos

I like that you put out there that you also do have two years worth of the bill $ put away to get you through. Your channel is already established as well which also helps a ton. That message needs to be clear for all the kids living in mommy's basement that think that this is their new life choice LOL
One of my favorite things about you is your kindness. Your parents did a very good job instilling that in you.
This decision had to have been made easier because you did not go out and buy a house and all the things that come with that or a car and a bunch of payments to live that $72,000 a year lifestyle.
Decisions matter and have lifetime consequences.
I am so happy for you and where you're going moving forward! And who knows a year from now this might not be what you want anymore but it's an experience and you're living life on your terms and that's what matters.

You must have some open minded friends and family. If I asked my friends and family for advice about the same thing they would all say 'to stay in the job' especially my parents. It's nice to hear you took the risky route :) Not many people would do that

Thanks, Dina! I believe in you! I think that I've learned that people will criticize you no matter what you say. Everything is subjective and people will interpret words based on their experiences, so just accept that and don't take anything too personally. I heard this quote the other day saying, "When people say bad things to you it is not a reflection of who you are, it is a reflection of who they are. How you choose to respond or not respond is your own karma."

Hearing your words and story will me to move forward (I've been in that place too of wanting to blog, UA-cam, work from home ,etc for the past several years; but have had those voices of fear about not being able to make it, having to rely on money, etc). I appreciate you bringing up the very important part about not letting money run your life, and how if we're just doing it for money, it's a waste of a life. Thank you!!

You can always go back to the rat race if you need to. I have to tell you, that the REAL person that you are very much through on this video and I really really like who you REALLY are. Although I think your content is amazing every time, it was refreshing not seeing the sing song salesman present it; but rather the real Austin Williams talking from his heart, with honest and true inflections and presenting his own experience and real feelings. Hopefully, the 2 year savings you mentioned is not from long term investments like stock ETFs. This is my biggest concern when leaving a job, since most of my savings are in long term investments. I have about 3-6 months of spending money in my regular checking. But, if I plan to quit my job, I would stop putting money into long term investments and start putting it in emergency until I get about 2 years. This way, I don't touch long term investments.

The money controllers have managed to convince a very large section of humanity that time equals money, but that is a lie. Time is living not for money.
