We need a book delving into the psychology preferably of captain Rex after order 66 I want to see and feel what he felt fighting a war where his brother were always meant to die for the success of the empire.
Well Rebels is kind of showing off how the clones are coping after the war; they were literally just cast out of the Empire once their aging caught up to them. I don't remember where I read this, but retired clones on Coruscant were made into janitors and dockworkers, which is very insulting.
The clones have always been my favorite part of Star Wars; hell, playing Star Wars: Battlefront II? Fighting as a clone of the 501st, alongside others? Didn't help, it just made me feel even closer to them. So hearing what you said about what happened to retired clones pisses me off...
Here's the exact quote, though the origin is unknown. Probably Wookieepedia, but which page I don't know. "Afterwards, decommissioned Clone Troopers tried to find a place in the galaxy, and met a wide variety of fates. Many took menial jobs as dock workers or farmers on backwater planets, or various other odd jobs, though a rare few were retained for extended periods of time as long-term instructors at Stormtrooper academies."
Is it just me or I loved Ahsoka’s response to Rex’s quote, “In my book, experience outranks everything.” Like, she didin’t complain or anything, she just respects his reason and will follow it.
@@wendysfreshneverfrozen1853 I just re watched season 1 and genuinely, it's pretty good. Wacky animations and a kinda shit filler episode but overall 7/10
Nick Rof only when wearing his helmet otherwise it would be hard as hell. a clones helmet has a Hud with a cross hair on it. that's why he can duel wield without ADS. and that's why almost every clone weapon lacks physical iron sights. such as the DC15
Skyler Slack While that is true, I think Rex, after years of fighting with the same weapons, would have most likely know how to use the DC-17s (I think that's what those pistols are called) without his helmet. Just a thought
Man the transition from Ahsoka back then and Ahsoka now.... Past: "In my book, experience outranks everything." "Well then i better start getting some!" Now: "In my book, Experience outranks everything!" "Well then i guess i outrank you."
The fact that he was able to resist a fucking mind trick in the movie, and literally survived _everything_ the war threw his way easily makes him my favorite character, at least in Clone Wars.
He did resist the mind trick, however, he needed to warn Anakin that Ventress was there without her knowing. She gave him the perfect opening, so he played along and used wording that wouldn’t tip off Ventress , but would sure as heck let Anakin know something was up.
I don't think Ventress actually controlled Rex. I believe that Rex was pretending to have been controlled but was warning Anakin. Quite clever, actually.
The Jedi/sith mind trick only works on weak minds, I don't think Rex has a weak mind, so I think your theory is true, he wasn't being controlled, more like warning Anakin.
Death Man And he said the 'I don't talk to separatist scum' bit at the beginning as part of his plan to make ventress want to use the force to break rex as opposed to her just killing him.
0:32 Rex wasn’t weak minded he played along so he could survive and put on a overly emotionless voice and broke formality to subtly warn Anakin about ventress.
There's a book called "Ahsoka" coming out in October; if the synopsis is anything to go by, it basically states that Ahsoka took Rex to Mandalore to deal with Darth Maul. Anakin, Obi-Wan and Cody were going to join them, but then of course Coruscant came under attack, and that was a more pressing concern.
When i first watched that Episode i thought: ORDER 66 MINI VERSION HOLY SHIT! It was so menacing seeing the Clones hunt and then kill a Jedi. But that asshole deserved it.
I think this is what made Tup's inhibitor decay. He WANTED to kill Jedi after Krell. He certainly never trusted then again. Possibly Anakin but it would never be the same. His will power and want to do it tore him apart, and it led to the chip malfunctioning.
9:58 I think there was a tinge of sadness there I didn't notice before. I think Rex felt a little crushed realizing the little youngin he used to order around had to grow up in such horrible times of war and live as an outcast her entire life. Even Rex, as little as it was, had brief moments of relief and times to look back on life. I don't think Ahsoka was ever given that. Not after she joined the Jedi Order, and certainly not after it betrayed her.
Now I have that weird a$$ little clip of the clones fighting *on* Excalibur Umbra from Warframe in my head. Thank you very much, that was one of the last things I needed in my life. And it's actually hilarious. XD *facepalm + tired and suffering chuckle* P.S. Umbara is a freakin' hellhole for the clones and I don't think I ever _disliked_ a "Jedi" so much in my entire life. R.I.P every clone that died there, you all deserved at least a better death.
"How do you suppose we get into (the rishi moon outpost)?" "I have a few ideas.." Goddamn I wanna know what the other ideas were if #1 was /pretend to be a commando droid/
I guess I’m the first one here right after the very end of The Clone Wars Gotta say this video hits differently now after seeing how, er, certain events play out, you see Rex in a whole new light
I think the hard thing about Rex is, initially, you don't think he's gonna be that important. You just think he's Anakin's token clone. Heck, with all the clones who die in this series, you don't really want to get too attached to him. But then he sticks around and gets all these great moments but you still don't want to get attached because Order 66 is coming. But then Rebels happened and he's alive and well and you just feel so damn happy that out of all the characters in this sad story, this random clone actually got a chance to survive and be happy. Then Season 7 comes and it twists what you thought you knew
Carly Crays - Oh so true, an absolutely unforeseen golden story arc. The more you ponder on it, the more you realize how tragic Rex’s story is. Filoni and co did a damn good job humanizing this cannon fodder of an army.
@@Padawan_Dif Yeah, there is no reason you should think that Rex is going to be anything special, especially in the beginning. But he keeps going and doesn't really give up even when his world is going to hell. And his relationship with Ahsoka becomes the heart of the final
Cao Len This is cannon. Clones like weird shit like their nicknames beacause it allows them to have a sense of individuality. That also causes that they customize their armor as much as they can. The average joes can't do much beacause of regulation uniform, but the higher the chain of command goes, the higher the chance for customization. This causes commanders and veterans to have all sorts of custom shit on them.
Yuh Yeet that depends. The way I see it, allegiance is putting the government first and the people second, while loyalty is putting the people first and government second
When General Krell was surprised Rex showed “tenacity” an called the clones men, Krell took Rex a little more serious afterwards actually impressed me with the story telling. Then when they said I think he almost complimented you and Rex says “ahh..its hard to tell” lol too good.
Rex: in my book, experience outranks everything Ahsoka: Well, then I’d still outrank you since I’m fourteen years old, and you’re like, what... three, four? Edit: I know now that Rex is 11 or 12.
From 7:18 the only time I almost cried in TCW even more sad than Ahsoka leaving the Jedi Order. The moment we see Rex realization and the clones breakdown for blindly following orders that resulted in killing their own and the other platoon leader crying, you can feel the weight of this whole Umbara arc that even made a soldier cry you know something really bad happened, how one powerful trusted leader as traitor ruined everything. One of the most dramatic and sad moments in TCW or the most on the clones' side.

Well Rebels is kind of showing off how the clones are coping after the war; they were literally just cast out of the Empire once their aging caught up to them. I don't remember where I read this, but retired clones on Coruscant were made into janitors and dockworkers, which is very insulting.
maccrawinthejaw wow, that's sad
"I'm always first kid" I love rex
I know
Is it just me or I loved Ahsoka’s response to Rex’s quote, “In my book, experience outranks everything.” Like, she didin’t complain or anything, she just respects his reason and will follow it.
Meanwhile in Rebels...
*Plot Armor outranks everything*
Why is there no comments when there’s 1k likes and it’s a 2 year comment
Red Paint I know right 😂🤣🤣😂
Umm you do realise the main characters of Clone Wars are Obi Wan and Anakin right? They have the strongest plot armour
Honestly past season 1 and the first half of season two the show is an honest blast of an experience
@@wendysfreshneverfrozen1853 I just re watched season 1 and genuinely, it's pretty good. Wacky animations and a kinda shit filler episode but overall 7/10
I like how Rex goes into battle with a pistol instead of a rifle.
John Andersmith he dual wields, which is cool
Nick Rof only when wearing his helmet otherwise it would be hard as hell. a clones helmet has a Hud with a cross hair on it. that's why he can duel wield without ADS. and that's why almost every clone weapon lacks physical iron sights. such as the DC15
Skyler Slack While that is true, I think Rex, after years of fighting with the same weapons, would have most likely know how to use the DC-17s (I think that's what those pistols are called) without his helmet. Just a thought
Dude would go in with his bare hands if he needed to
@@skylerslack5677 is this the reason why Stormtrooper can't aim ?

Yub-Tub's high priest faking it

Man the transition from Ahsoka back then and Ahsoka now....
Past:
"In my book, experience outranks everything."
"Well then i better start getting some!"
Now:
"In my book, Experience outranks everything!"
"Well then i guess i outrank you."
The ending was my most memorable and favourite part for me.
Yeah
I think between those two (Asoka and Rex) is a romantic relationship
Captain Rex the Rebel Indeed.
It's so sad because their first conversation went full circle and became their last.
Rex: *shoots down an innocent clone trooper in cold blood*
Cody: what the heck man
That scene where Rex realized who he was fighting gave me shivers. The emotion his VA put into those lines was phenomenal
The fact that he was able to resist a fucking mind trick in the movie, and literally survived _everything_ the war threw his way easily makes him my favorite character, at least in Clone Wars.
Sarah Tilgner he didn’t he just told them in a way that would let them know it was a trap
He did resist the mind trick, however, he needed to warn Anakin that Ventress was there without her knowing. She gave him the perfect opening, so he played along and used wording that wouldn’t tip off Ventress , but would sure as heck let Anakin know something was up.
5:30 hits hard. Having served in the US Army as Infantry I feel for the clones seeing first hand how fast we were replaced if we were wounded or Kia.

Death Man If he was being controlled he would report in as normal and then get Anakin to come to him.
samuelepsteing Pretty much. Rex is known for pulling smart tricks
Death Man And he said the 'I don't talk to separatist scum' bit at the beginning as part of his plan to make ventress want to use the force to break rex as opposed to her just killing him.
samuelepsteing Exactly.
The umbara arc is when this show went from great to perhaps the greatest
Hmm, didn't expect to see you here.
Gotta love how they reference "Experience out ranks everything" line so many years later :D.
It was from the first time they met to the last time they see each other. It's very fitting.
Agreed
Rex somehow managed to stare down someone taller than him
0:32 Rex wasn’t weak minded he played along so he could survive and put on a overly emotionless voice and broke formality to subtly warn Anakin about ventress.

I’m so sad, I’m really going to miss the clones.
I think all star wars the clone wars fans can admit that Rex was their favorite clone.
Sorry, Fives ftw, but Rex is still awesome

For me,it's that dude who used an at te cannon and shot a rocket mid air.
Vidal Zazueta im a passionate star wars fan, and I ADORE rex, but delta team (clone commandos) are my favorite clones
Nope. Fives for me. Rex #2 though.

AAAAAAAAAAOOOOH!
I can't tell if Rex was acting when ventress was "mind tricking" him.
In the book that came befor it was stated that rex was not being controlled only acting so he can save that why he talked like that to anikin
+Glenndogamer35 exactly
The mind control only works on the weak minded, Rex is definitely NOT weak minded.
No shit he was acting, he never calls him "Anakin".
Ventress doesn't know that though, does she?
"It's treason then." So damn familiar...Did Palpatine said that?
+Mandalorian Huntsman i am keller u false keller!!!
yeah
+Mandalorian Huntsman >> Nah, assimilation is another star universe

Yep
Rex didn't hesitate to run directly into enemy fire just to stop the clones from killing each other. Best Star Wars character.
Sad watching Cody in the clone wars knowing he obeys order 66
Rex didnt get to cody in time to tell him about the chip
There's a book called "Ahsoka" coming out in October; if the synopsis is anything to go by, it basically states that Ahsoka took Rex to Mandalore to deal with Darth Maul. Anakin, Obi-Wan and Cody were going to join them, but then of course Coruscant came under attack, and that was a more pressing concern.
Damn dude that sucks, Cody and Rex were best buds. It must've been tragic for Rex having to never see him again.
Kritz Rex killed Cody in a comic.
+Reshiram “Matthew” Zekrom Is it canon? Can you show me a picture or something?
7:12 Most badass thing he ever done
1:13 "Woa- Rex! What the *heck* are you doing?!"
8:41 I love the look in Tup's eyes.
You mean that look filled with pure rage and hatred? It's almost terrifying, not a look you want to have someone look at you with
When i first watched that Episode i thought: ORDER 66 MINI VERSION HOLY SHIT!
Cost us men, NOT CLONES, MEN!!!
Tyler Crebs My favorite line, the most powerful one on the entire show in my opinion
That fight between the clones on umbra hurts
Now I have that weird a$$ little clip of the clones fighting *on* Excalibur Umbra from Warframe in my head. Thank you very much, that was one of the last things I needed in my life. And it's actually hilarious. XD *facepalm + tired and suffering chuckle*
P.S. Umbara is a freakin' hellhole for the clones and I don't think I ever _disliked_ a "Jedi" so much in my entire life. R.I.P every clone that died there, you all deserved at least a better death.
The fact the we are now getting sad for animated TV characters. Damn, the people who voices the clone troopers is good
I almost cried thinking that the clone era is over..
Season 7 was just confirmed!!!
Not really we've got The Clone Wars coming back in Disney+ this fall.
"How do you suppose we get into (the rishi moon outpost)?"

Mistwrath PVP same, I still watch this as a teen though

I guess I’m the first one here right after the very end of The Clone Wars
Gotta say this video hits differently now after seeing how, er, certain events play out, you see Rex in a whole new light

How did I only pick up on this now???
Rex: What's your location?
Anakin: Ventress.
Rex: Uh. Is that really a place?
You can read this comment and take one of two things from it
How to tell if a clone is going to play an important role in a nutshell: They have weird shiet on them
Cao Len This is cannon.
Wow. Rex actually faked being affected by a mind trick. He must be one of the smartest and strongest willed troopers in the army
Captain Rex is, and always will be, my favourite clone trooper. He's a badass.
'Ey Rex, didn't know you talked with Ahsoka.
Not as much as you talk to General Secura :P
You got me there. Hehe.
I ship it. XD

Experience outranks Everything
Courage outranks Orders
Loyalty outranks Allegiance
Super Super Hero loyalty is basically the same thing as allegiance
Yuh Yeet that depends. The way I see it, allegiance is putting the government first and the people second, while loyalty is putting the people first and government second
Good soldiers follow orders
When General Krell was surprised Rex showed “tenacity” an called the clones men, Krell took Rex a little more serious afterwards actually impressed me with the story telling. Then when they said I think he almost complimented you and Rex says “ahh..its hard to tell” lol too good.
Rex: in my book, experience outranks everything
Ahsoka: Well, then I’d still outrank you since I’m fourteen years old, and you’re like, what... three, four?
Edit: I know now that Rex is 11 or 12.
They grow at twice the rate, so he's likely 15-20
He’d actually be around 10-11. The program hadn’t been around long enough for him to be 15.
OOOHHHHHHHHH
TURN DOWN FOR WHAT
Ahsoka IS older than him, but Rex does still have more battle experience
Rex was 11-12 at that time
Captain Rex is literally a role model.
I love how Rex's and Cody's personality and tactics are an extension of Anakin and Obi-Wan
