The story goes that Danny found his bass, which he named Victoria, in a junk shop where the owner was about to throw it out, and Danny took it off his hands for the princely sum of five pounds.
Jaqui McShee, Sandy Deny, Annie Lenox, Joni Mitchell and Eva Cassidy, such beautiful emotive voices Oh! Yes alongside Ella Fitzgerald, Tracy Thorn and then there's all the fantastic male voices, Nick Drake! Bert Jancsh, Jon Renbourne Tom Petty, et al.
thanks...that's some of the most enjoyable music I've ever heard. I have some Bert Jansch. I definitely could use some Pentangle and plan on getting a bunch :)
I wish to avail of this singular opportunity to fulsomely concur with the sentiments expressed so eloquently by that acclaimed critic Ron Dee Wright ..... "fucking ace" .... total respect , RDW , a literary pearl :)
I heard there was some tentative experiments with a piano-playing mate in the 60s, my memory says at the Station Hotel Richmond but I could be wrong. May be documented in Dazzling Stranger.
Look Bert up here on youtube, be a little creative and you will find what you need ;) I my self do from time to time ....I am a woman with an age of 31 :)
Pentangle’s music will give you chills...it’s THAT GOOD!
She's got the most beautiful eyes.
And the teeth of a piranha, but she sure could sing.
The musicianship of this band is something to which any or every band should aspire.
And many have!
I love the guitars of Bert snd John and Danny' s bass, but the shining star here is.... Jacqui. What a voice. She and Sandy Denny is the best of all!❤
I would add Annie Haslam to that company.
@@wallstreettrader1Maddy Prior.
Pentangle was an interesting band. I liked their jazz time-signatures underneath a folk arraignment...Very cool🎼
Danny Thompson and that Bass 😍
The story goes that Danny found his bass, which he named Victoria, in a junk shop where the owner was about to throw it out, and Danny took it off his hands for the princely sum of five pounds.

Wow - this takes me back! Pentangle Jazz Club! - Nice.
Tight and Free
How many bands sound as good as this live?
Sound is good for '68, especially with the band members being so close to each other.
Gene O'Brien Those voices..incredible.

Jansch never picked up an electric guitar ?
I heard there was some tentative experiments with a piano-playing mate in the 60s, my memory says at the Station Hotel Richmond but I could be wrong. May be documented in Dazzling Stranger.
There was no need, he didnt play sloppy enough to need the crutches of an electric to carry him
Great video too bad not in color, well ya cant have everything.
Look Bert up here on youtube, be a little creative and you will find what you need ;) I my self do from time to time ....I am a woman with an age of 31 :)

Kinda sounds like good american black music with British accountants on vocals.
Great music....but for me , her voice is way to high!
Plank
WORD TO LISTENERS: this is not 'Let No Man Steal Your Thyme'... this is Travelling Song. The other song can be found here on YT. Both amazing.
Actually it is both. “Thyme” follows “Travelling”. 😉
it's after the first song..ffs
This video has both songs, just like it says. Did you even watch/listen to the whole video?
For me - this is the definitive version- leagues better than the single. Them live drums are massive
