I had an air leak on the intake manifold (Road Star) from the tube that I think used to hook to the emissions system when the bike was new (Ca model) once I plugged it all of my backfiring and rich condition went away.! I am getting over 40 mpg now and the sparks are no longer black!
@@philspaseo2377 No it was the tube that hooksto the AIS that the plug had come brittle and broke, so I was sucking air inside the boot itself! I recently installed a ported manifold, cleaned the are and put the permatherm I had there forever and there are no leaks...!
"Air Induction System" I guess (?); part of the "smog" (emissions) system California put in vehicles. It included a carbon box that I guess it filtered fumes from the block (I have two plugs in the cylinders where metal tubing used to be connected that ended somewhere in the carbon box, one lead from it went to that intake manifold tube!
I was able to get the backfire at idle fixed. I don't know why that's not in the video. The backfire had been so bad that it sounded like a shot gun going off. I'm going to see if I still have the original clips.
@@wonkster1970 ... There are some videos on UA-cam... Removing ais on v star... Ideally you can bypass it first just to try it before you remove the entire system... If your bike has power running to the pump, leave the pump on the biie with the power still connected or you may get a check engine light...
This is one of the first videos posted. I was using an old dual core computer. It took forever to edit and I ended up creating a time lapse video. Hopefully I can find the old footage and create a better version someday. Thanks for watching.
I went through and changed the music on the video. I want able to use the original audio because the sound quality wasn't that great. The camera angle wasnt the greatest to demonstrate a step by step assembly. I'll see if I can clean it up more. Thanks for watching!
The flooding issue on my 07 1100 was caused by a bad o ring on the neeedle and seat assembly.
Yup I still have that issue, shutting my petcock after I finish a ride fixes that flooding!!

Was it the intake boots? Did they have cracks inside?

@@loscantosdelayer5138 what’s the ais ?
It's the Air Injection System. It blows fresh air into the exhaust.

Did you forget to install the air box and rubber elbows that connect to the carburetor, or was that intentional?
It sounds like you didn't get the problem sorted, still much backfiring at the end

@@wonkster1970 I had the same problem, but still backfiring when letting off the throttle so I just ordered bigger jets
Creating a richer fuel mixture should correct the problem.
you could try deleting the air induction system to eliminate the back firing...
Thanks.

i have the same problem i cant get it to stop backfire on 05 vstar 1100 changed coils cleaned carb cylinder 1 s the one backfire did you get to fix ?
I cleaned the carbs, installed a carb kit, and replaced the spark plugs. Thanks for watching.
what brand of kit did u use. if oe can u provide a part number plz
This is the kit that I used: www.amazon.com/All-Balls-Carburetor-Rebuild-26-1639/dp/B07DFPDTQL
Sounded like it was still backfiring.
It's a lot better. It sounded like a shotgun going off before. Owner took it on a 2 hour ride home. He said it ran great.
There is another video of the bike running. I'm going to see if I can locate that. Thanks!
No
Yes.
A "Charles Chaplin" style video without explaining what is being done makes no sense. 👎

Your music was too loud and extremely annoying. Couldn't watch.
Thanks for the input. I thought it sounded good at the time. I should of lowered the music volume. I rarely use music in my videos anymore.
Terrible video music is freaking annoying and you don't even show what you doing step-by-step not worth watching
I went back through and watched the video again. There are some changes that could be made to it. Thanks for the input!

It's not one of my better videos. I found the original clips. I'm hoping to redo it one of these days.
Music is so annoying, can't watch this video.
Thanks for watching. I'll have to see if I can adjust or change the music.
Bullshit music just give is the facts and stop the film when it gets boring 😴 get your son to edit it properly, we ain't getting any younger!?!
