Please note that you can update for free if you have a license that includes updates from version 7 onwards. It was a free update for me, but please check with the manufacturer if you're unsure.
I'm gonna go nuts with those FX containers, that tickles my brain :O
Рік тому
You should give a try to Sexan's Paranormal FX script which allow to organise FXs, containers and chains graphically, run them in parallel... It's a must !
Not completely sure you described correctly how the previous reaper take system worked but I appreciate the introduction to new features. swipe comping seems really promising.
I'm currently evaluating Reaper. I am switching from Cakewalk and I'm absolutely gobsmacked with the ease of use, support and features. This looks like a great DAW to learn and use.
Thanks for the Reaper videos !!! I reached out to a local music store , signed up for a few classes ( Reaper tutorial ). Couldn't believe they actually offered classes and had only two openings left. That's an option some might not have thought of. Your videos are extremely helpful in preparation for my classes !
I have been running REAPER since v5.x. I LOVE it! I did have to pay another $60 to upgrade to v7.x which I did happily. It is well worth it to support this excellent product. My original license email said; "Your license is valid for REAPER versions through v6.99" New license said; "License is valid or REAPER versions through v8.99" I had forgotten that about that. :)
Thanks for giving clarity on how this works. It was a free update for me but perhaps I purchased my license more recently. Will update the description.
Hey Joe.... Your videos are very clear and straightforward...! Could you make a full rock song recording process series in REAPER...? Even a simple one...?... I mean, from beginning to the finished product...? I think that will help many beginners like me in REAPER who have lost much time already trying other DAWs with too many complicated features.... Thanks a lot in advance....!
Hey there, I'm glad they've been helpful! Unfortunately, I no longer make content that's exclusively music-related. I will be making more Reaper content, though. And I do have other videos focusing on recording guitar, vocals etc. On a different DAW, but once you've learned where the equivalent features are, it should translate. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful there!
I think lanes are just slightly faster than takes. And definitely not a game changer for someone who's been using reaper for years. Just a good looking feature for new users. Nevertheless, I just love how reaper keeps getting better and better
I am writing via translation and opening a new recording tab. Sometimes the metronome sound is heard all the time. How can I turn it off? Also, I am mixing the panels to solve the Reaper worksheet. They get mixed up. Is there a menu to reset the panel and reset it to its original state?
I have downloaded Reaper 7, it came rather quicker than anticipated. The last update was 6.83 I think, and now I'm being charged for it again, despite the fact that I am a long-time user. Oh well, I guess my licence ran out for Reaper 7 - I didn't know that at the time, but anyway I thought to jump from 6.83 to 7 for these updates was a little unfair, and although I am trialling version 7, I'm not sure if I will buy another licence due to the fact that I don't consider it worth the price for the updates that have been added. But then, what are the alternatives? Cubase? Can't afford that, or Logic Pro or any other of the top-level DAWs on the market? Maybe Reaper is worth it after all... I'll start saving...x
Sorry to hear you didn't get to update for free! It's still the cheapest at $60 for the update. But if it was me then I wouldn't have paid for the update. I'd probably have waited until 7.5 or 8 to upgrade.
Yeah it's looking a little dated compared to some others. Reaper 7 has had a lick of paint, but is largely the same. There are UI mods you can get but I haven't played around with that, yet.
Hi, my channel is starting a podcast segment and I was wondering if we got two audio interfaces that support 2 mics each, would we be able to use those to record on reaper?
Hi, that's great you're starting a podcast! You need to select the audio device to use within Reaper, you wouldn't be able to easily use two I don't think. Would you consider a 4-input interface like a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 or a Zoom H6?
Ahh that's a pain for you! It let me update. By the looks of it, some licenses allow free update, others don't. It was reported that it was just a free update.
Spacer feater is fine but should be unnecessary. Why do software designers insist on having no contrasting borders around items so that items (such as tracks in this case) all blend together, when they have no business blending together?
Just to clarify, when you buy it, you get it for life, like any software before we had to deal with all the subscription stuff. You get a couple of years of updates but then you would have to pay if you wanted a new version. It doesn't stop you from using it after your version expires. $60 for every single version they ever make would be pretty tight lol.
Why do you show such a bad picture of the Reaper interface at the beginning? A gray wall with lines, very intimidating, looks like boring cheap software. But Reaper isn't, it costs something (€225 / €60) and is the most stable and well thought out DAW on the market. It would also make sense to present Reaper in dark mode, it seems more contemporary.
Thanks for that, chum. This version of Reaper is NOT free. I now have to reload my previous paid for version thanks to you stating that is was free at the start of this vid. Reaper is great, and I've used it for years, but I think plenty of others might appreciate you disclosing your interest in getting people to download this version. Shill.
Hi there, no, it's not free if you download standalone, but it's free to update to for those with existing licenses. At least it was for me, and I crosschecked this with trusted sites like Sound on Sound to check this (www.soundonsound.com/news/cockos-launch-reaper-7). I would contact Cockos if I were you to check if your license is still valid. Not sure if there's an expiry possible? Or you may need to reinput your license key. I'm sorry it didn't work for you, I can only give info from my personal experience and what's available online. I don't have any interest in getting people to download this version unless they want to based on the new features. I'm not affiliated with Cockos or any other manufacturer whose software I cover.
Notwithstanding your experience, my licence does not extend to this version on downloading v 7. Fortunately I have managed to backtrack to 6.83 since my outburst. I accept that you are not shilling for Reaper. But I imagine I can't be the only one who might experience this. It is fortunate that Cuckos make previous versions available, unlike Ableton in particular who won't let me go back to my ancient paid for V8.x . @@JoeAtClaricast
it depends which version you had at the time of purchase. I paid at V6 so V7 was free. If you bought before v6 you'd need to pay. When v8 comes out I'll need to pay again.
Thanks for the follow-up. I've pinned a comment and a card to the video at the point when I mentioned the licensing. It wasn't the only site reporting on the update that simply stated it was a 'free update' which is frustrating. I'm glad that it's still really cheap but it could do with being more upfront about it on the update pop up.
Please note that you can update for free if you have a license that includes updates from version 7 onwards. It was a free update for me, but please check with the manufacturer if you're unsure.
Lanes is amazing. I love it for combining the best parts of multiple takes.
The lanes feature is really cool. It is so much better than it was before. I'm excited to look into the deeper features for that, like fades, etc.
Seeing the gain reduction is also really useful. I love Reaper.

It is more intuitive than Cakewalk I find.
@@JoeAtClaricast I changed over from Cakewalk as well.I have not used it yet. Thank you for your videos.

Amazing! Great to hear. It's a solid option for getting started with.
I love the spacers between tracks.
SImple feature but definitely nice to have!
I'm still warming to the new fixed item lanes - it seems cool, but comping was a cinch already before this feature.

@@JoeAtClaricast I was wondering that too. It must depend on when (version number) you get on the REAPER train.
Wow, well comping looks pretty awesome now.

Great video as always!
Cheers John 😀
where is the gain reduction plugin displayed?
How did you changer the mouse pointer to select ? Mine is stuck on drag items.
When will they add a built-in chord channel?
I think it's more important than many such and other functions...
Sws chord gun generator

is there any difference in performance between the 6 and the 7 version?
I haven't noticed in general. There are bug fixes though of course.
Containers!
In C 1, all these functions have been there for a long time
I loved Reaper when it came. Been waiting for an UI update since 2011 I think... 2024. Still waiting :(

Joe, I've been a fan for nearly a year. Thanks for this video. I have downloaded reaper 7. Will be using initially for voiceover.
Thanks
Why is there still no dark mode for Windows?
I'm using Reaper fo many year's after updating shows me my license key is not valid I have to pay 60 $ for new license key if I want update 😢

Taking lanes from mixcraft
Please: right click ->tools ! frustrated users of Cubase and Studio One will come to you
the only reason why i dońt use it ist the plugin view, this is sooo awfull… update the ui
The UI could do with some polish, I agree with that.
