The principal behind blinking is to give the allusion of movement and makes it easier for your eyes to pick up and track.
If you hold your finger still in your peripheral vision it's easy to lose track but simply wiggle your finger a bit and you pick up the movement instantly. Same principle. It's most useful in daylight use where the laser isn't noticeably bright compared to the target.
@airguntrucker That makes sense I suppose. Never would have thought it use it for a laser sight though.
