Jeez-almighty....ain't nothing worse than an intermittent problem with an electrical device. I like fixing things by accident....but usually it ends up in troubleshooting again. Sure glad that switch popped up as the issue. Easy fixes are welcome down here !!
Replace the switch above all do not replace the battery charger the new models are called smart chargers, right there is a red flag, too many electronics that you don't need or want and they don't work like the old ones do.
I use small trickle charger/maintainers on my riding lawn mower and generator(battery start only) to make sure they are ready to go. Mine are made by Battery Tender. They aren't free of course but figure the cost and the electricity they use are still cheaper than new batteries. Plus the cost of small engine batteries seems to have gone crazy lately......like everything else.
I'd love to build a battery maintainer station in the garage to overwinter the various batteries my power equipment. Is there you recommend for maintaining up to 10 - 12v batteries (no automotive batteries). Should I be concerned about the batteries off-gassing?
@@cw6136 Any charging station will create some fumes from the sulfuric acid heating up. I would suggest having the area vented to the outside so the fumes don't corrode everything in the room. If you look at old cars or equipment the battery box is usually badly corroded from the fumes. The batteries also vent off hydrogen and oxygen from the water being broken down during the charging process. This is an explosive combination. Venting the gases outside is important. 😁😎
How's she goin'? If the changer doesn't work and you don't do anything to fix it, it's still broke, even if it works again!!! LOL I think you may have found the problem with the switch though. Take care!!!

Seems like a fix like that is better than a new one. For me, anyway. I've got a pressure switch to change out on the pump. 220 with a 110 volt kicker but if I go slow (like have a choice) I'll be fine. It's even got the grommets so's I can do a pretty job instead of looking like an electric chair. Got everything started today and running included the splitter which didn't pop since last fall. I even mowed some. A maple and the river birch are turning color. Nothing else that's obvious. Beans and cukes coming on. Squash is yummy. Come get some! Happy evening and happy charging too. The hammer didn't come out so it had to be electrical! GBWYall!
@@OldSneelock I have taken dead cell batteries and dumped the electrolyte out and sprayed water into the cells and shook the battery and emptied out the water over and over many times. Put the acid back in the battery recharged it and all was well, usually did this to a battery of a car that was for sale so I never knew how long it lasted. lol
@@OldSneelock I think they all go dead by themselves sooner or later. The generator battery does and it does very little 99.9% of the time and then I just turn it over for 3 or 4 rounds in passing. And the maintainer just blinks it when charged so it's not in a boil all the time. I'm inside because of the smoke from all the fires have us covered up. Supposed to blow away this afternoon. Poor folks out west have it really rough. GBWYall!
Hello. I have an old very simple Shauer Norko 1 amp 6/12 volt manual charger. I need to determine what component is bad. Can you help direct me to a schematic or parts list?

I think there's a picture of that thing painted on a cave wall in France!!
There are several newer looking ones on Ebay. Collectors item?
For me it just has to charge batteries. 😁😎
@@OldSneelock Yep!
The insides of those chargers are a mystery to me.
Thumbs up and thanks for posting!
Gator of Gator's World prompted me to try a fix.
If you have any contact cleaner blasting it in to the switch might work (and then switch it a few times)

That's a good enough fix for me .....spend the time doing something that will advance all the projects....good troubleshooting.....CHEERS
Now I need a switch and a new battery.

The automatics aren't able to do what manuals can.

I did that successfully for 3 years. Last year I didn't pull the battery. So it sat in the cold.
Just laziness. 🤔😎

New battery needed. The old one has a dead cell.

Use battery maintainers instead of battery chargers. They won't release enough hydrogen to cause a problem
@@OldSneelock Appreciate the response.

I got the battery charger working, but the battery has avdead cell.
So I mowed and trimmed while thinking of a way to get another battery. 😑😎
