It’s such a GREAT feeling when you find out the name of that “one game I used to play where….” isn’t it? I remember finding crude buster arcade where they had either the home version or USA version which was called two crude dudes. When I played crude buster on mame I was like “this is it! That’s the game!” That mame helped me out a LOT though because I did the same thing for “the main event” by Konami and “champion wrestler” by taito. Nothing beats that nostalgic joy!

For me "Xevious" was not just the inventor of this genre, it is still one of the best vertical shooters.
I was thinking the same thing.I also used to love 'Zaxxon'.I know it's not strictly a vertical shooter but it's not a sideways one either!

A good collection, Thunder Dragon 2 and Vasara 1&2 are also great. My personal favourites are probably the first shooters i played which got me hooked on the genre. In the arcade i loved Starforce and Terra Cresta, not the best by any stretch but they have a place in my shoot em up heart.

Dang, they should port alot of these!!! I play them in Retroarch through Launchbox on my PC, MAME on PS3, Pi3, Xbox 360 and FB Alpha has a great arcade emulator on Switch. I do enjoy when they proper port them over though. The CAVE series on 360 is def the best but tons in here I've never seen like that Esp Rade and Dragon Saber. Great vid man! I dont like mobile gaming but after playing tons of shmups its hard to ignore all the shmups on mobile. I'm putting a compilation together atm.

What an awesome opening !!! I wonder if they did it to funny, by tricking some to believe the big jet was the one the player controls. Imagine being super hyped and right when you expect gameplay to start, that little arm extends out the side where a much more normal sized plane is let out. 😂

It’s all a classic game. I can’t stop it. Look at my egg-shaped arcade machine. You can switch between horizontal and vertical screens to play a plane at any time.

I'm looking for a game. I forget the title, but it's shot em up that using a jet helicopter i belive. The first stage is a rainy night in a ruined city.

I remember those games which I played in my childhood but there is still one that I'm so freaking want to remember and play it again I forgot the name of it and I'm just disappointed that it's not on the list. If I recall it I think it's like strikers but the bosses is big af and before you fight the boss you have to destroy the parts of the boss cuz its big af and kinda like giga wings which has a percentage of boss percentage destroyed. Anyway, Pls make another vid like this and hopefully you found the game I was looking for. ty

Can anyone tell me the name of the vertical scroller that you got stars when blowing up the enemy. Then you could choose what type of upgrade you wanted depending on the stars. Final boss was like a giant brain inside a glass dome?

I'm looking for a vertical shooter game I can't remember very well. I think the main sprites look like helicopters and the power ups are labeled as 1 to 4, with each having a different kind of projectile. Does anyone remember? Thanks in advance.

There is one shoot 'em up I'm trying to remember. I don't know the name of it, but I do remember it having a snake-like enemy as the first boss and that one of the weapons is all the spotted balls that scatter all over the screen. The boss music is in A minor. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

aero fighters special is an arcade game, so you'll need to use MAME to play it. The mame machine name is AEROFGTS.

I can't remember the name of this arcade game where in attract mode a jet rises from the bottom of the sea and does a lift off into the sky upon exiting the water. (it was from round the late 90's early 00's when i saw it)

In the game play which I remember there is ship as player and after playing games for some interval ,ship is able to upgrade and its fire rate and bullets.where on earth i find this game.
Im looking for this one specific shoot em up where it takes place in space and has 2 player. 1 Red Rocket Ship and the other Blue, the Red carried a Bomb with a huge explosion that covers 1/4 area of the screen and the Blue carried multiple Missile bombs that lights up the whole screen blowing off like Fireworks. Also one of its power ups was a Purple Lightning blast that stays locked on its target as long as you hold fire.
It was a game I played in a laundromat but never actually finished.

Sure there was a game where at the start you chose to be a helicopter or a plane that played like these, may be 1 of these shown but not sure, been trying to remember it for over 25 years lol any help/info 👍
There was a vertical shooter game, where you played as a spaceship. You had to defeat enemy's or survive til you got to the boss of the stage.
You had a health bar and a energy bar (for basic attacks)
You could replenish those by collecting a item from destroyed ships.
At the end of a stage you could buy different base Attack weapons and special attacks like nukes etc.
Sadly Ive completely forgotten how the game is called.
I stil remember that the game used gangster paradise instrumental as its main theme song when you would play the game.

I am looking for a game called "copper and silver" arcade game. In this game you pick up different colour men. It also had stages and you blast through a gate to go through. There was also no sequence to which of stages. But you always had 2 options
Green was your engineer. Blue was your technician. They would upgrade your ship but only for a short period.

I remember playing a demo of an awesome game of this genre from my childhood, does anyone have any idea what it was? It was on PC on either 95 or 98. I'm pretty sure you are a sci-fi style ship that shoots both ground and air targets. You can upgrade your weapon by picking up another or swap it out for a new one, I remember one of them being a bubble type that covered a large area. Anyone know the name? I'd hugely appreciate it. I didn't see it here sadly.
Have same question here. I played pc game shmup from about year 95 but forgot the name. It was side scrolling submerged underwater ship with polygon graphic, you can equip various weapon into maybe five slot on the ship and you can upgrade it to. If anyone know please tell me

Art Imitates life. Most of the ships in shooters have a pod that circles or follow them that shoot and help the ship.Are these not the DRONES that the military are using now? Shooters had drones since I first started playing video games.
Good point. I also noticed that the Raiden ship has moving thrusters so that it can do a vertical takeoff, which some jets are capable of today. SU 37 I believe is one.

The best Vertical Shooters Arcade in my opinion are: 1. Air Gallet, 2. Grind Stormer, 3. 1940 series, 4. Lightning Fighters, 5. Galaga 2, and 6. Leathel Thunder.

Nice collection! But here's the thing, I'm looking for this vertical shooter game that is not on this list. I hope someone can help me find it. I played it on arcades during my childhood days. You can select a player/plane "Korea" but it bombs like Hien on Aero Fighters (Sonic Wings) the one that shoots like Shinku Hadouken and it kinda slows down while the bomb is active. And I think it shoots normal shots with lasers like F22-Raptor seen on Strikers 1945-3. That game only has 4 selectable characters if I'm not mistaken, and they are all countries. My description might not be accurate but I hope someone will recognize that game. Cheers.
