Get Them At: www.guitarcenter.com/search?ty... Dylan Elise, drummer for Blood, Sweat, & Tears, dropped by Guitar Center to show us the Paiste 900 Series of Cymbals.
Sounds great. For a solo. I wish you had played a few straight beats so we could hear them in a more everyday band setting. Not all of us can rip like you.
Jettylocal1502 I was about to write the same thing! fuck, just play a solid rock, country, pop beat and showcase the damn cymbals not hey look how fast I move making some shit sound. play the cymbals like regular rock n roll players do!
Absolutely agree with all of you! Just play a groove!! Your skills are most impressive we don’t debate that, all very nice etc but your meant to be show casing the cymbals not yourself.
Thanks. Now I have a really good idea what they’ll sound like if someone pours a bag of dry pasta on them. I can’t help but wonder what they sound like played with a kit though.
Hey Lance. 😊 They kind of remind me sometimes of the coating you also put on your customs. Some people are saying the colorsounds 900s are duller, I like just these myself, what do you think?
I have been a Paiste endorsee for nearly 20 years and I can tell you that these cymbals will sound different depending on the environment. A professionally captured demo using high quality mics, a studio and processing can make even the cheapest cymbals sound acceptable - capture what the human ear is hearing rather than what the human ear would like to hear
I was going to comment on his frenzy of playing......then I read that most of the commenters already have. No need to say it again - though I will add that it is very IMMATURE. Major loss of respect.
When you actually play them they're fine. I have a set of 15" heavy hihats, a 16" crash and a 16" China. When you're done showing off your stick tricks and fancy playing they sound ace.
He plays for Blood, Sweat, and Tears???? I have a strong suspicion he did not get the gig by doing any of his flashy stuff. I'm sure word of mouth about his flashy playing got around the industry but it wasn't that playing that got him his gig i bet.
Just review the sound of the cymbals, who gives two shits about all that flashy nonsense, people want to hear the cymbals breath and open up on their own.
I've been a Paiste user for many years, and i think that this revamped 900 series has some potential, but as with all mid range, "affordable" cymbals, there'll always be a hit and miss situation.. In this case, it's the hi hats.. Tone is way too high pitched, and "tinny" sounding. The gem of the bunch is the ride cymbal, followed by the 18" crash. The 17" sounds smaller than its size entails, such as a 15" or 16", and yet again, this is because of higher pitched tone.. The China cymbal is decent, but lacks versatility.. It actually sounds like a cheapo Pearl CX500 China cymbal i owned as a kid just starting out 28 years ago.. The Color Sound cymbals shouldn't even be bothered with, as the color coating process Paiste has famously patented, deadens the tone and sustain of the cymbals, literally making them sound like trash can lids.. I absolutely would not drop $800-$1000 for a set of cymbals that sounded like trash can lids..Out of the entire series, the natural finish 900 is the only set worth taking a look at.. This is just this humble Paiste user's personal opinion..
BTW, dry cymbals have been trending lately, Zildjian K Custom dry series, Sabian Big and Ugly, Meinl's dry models. The Paiste Color sound series may well suite Paiste players looking for that sound. To each, his own is all I'm saying.
I just got myself a 900 colorsound sound edge pair and I have to say the colorsound dampens the highs of the sound edge perfectly, making them more versatile imo. Although I wouldn't get the colors for crashes I'd deffinitely consider one for a ride as well.
This is actually a TERRIBLE video! Like most of us, I wanted to hear the cymbals in a REAL context. All this guy is doing is showing off his chops. Sell the cymbals, dude - Play A Groove!!
I stopped this video, @ 0:13. Don't know, lf the rest was any good? It really makes me sick, Seeing Drummers, Riding-Off, Crash-Cymbals, Like that! Makes me wanna puke! They're Crash-Cymbals, For cryin', Out Loud!!!!!!!!!!
He's got plenty of videos online of him grooving with those exact same cymbals. And he demonstrated them too, stop hating. And he has solos with him playing that fast for almost 10 minutes.
Sounds great. For a solo. I wish you had played a few straight beats so we could hear them in a more everyday band setting. Not all of us can rip like you.
Jettylocal1502 I was about to write the same thing! fuck, just play a solid rock, country, pop beat and showcase the damn cymbals not hey look how fast I move making some shit sound. play the cymbals like regular rock n roll players do!
ditto it was informative and then shifted to this frenetic whirlwind, out of the blue...
it's just my opinion but it seems like 90% of these guys do the same thing when they're demoing cymbals
Absolutely agree with all of you! Just play a groove!! Your skills are most impressive we don’t debate that, all very nice etc but your meant to be show casing the cymbals not yourself.
🤣😅
This 'demo' is like telling you how economical a car is whilst riding it at 150 MPH.
Not a single groove? Really?
great you got chops...now what do the cymbals actually sound like in a real groove context?
I got the 18” crash......awesome! Matches nicely with my 400 20” power ride and 400 hi hats. Can’t beat old school Paiste.
Are the crazy fast stick tricks necessary for a cymbal demo video? Hahaha. But def a sick drummer.
Andy Ham I think the same. Couldn’t appreciate the sound of the cymbals
They're selling products.
Thanks. Now I have a really good idea what they’ll sound like if someone pours a bag of dry pasta on them. I can’t help but wonder what they sound like played with a kit though.
I like this offering from Paste. They look cool and sound good. A step in the right direction.
I see you on so many cymbal videos friend
Totally agreed, they're cool. This hat is perfect)
I thought you were screwed by UA-cam?
Hey Lance. 😊 They kind of remind me sometimes of the coating you also put on your customs. Some people are saying the colorsounds 900s are duller, I like just these myself, what do you think?
This ride is awesome, i think i buy this
I have been a Paiste endorsee for nearly 20 years and I can tell you that these cymbals will sound different depending on the environment. Dylan is the best drummer out there.
i love this ride
I mostly use 2002s but picked up a 900 18 crash and it sounds amazing.
lol, youve changed a lot, the last vid i saw with you was when you were playing solos on the streets of new orleans
Streets of Wellington New Zealand
GOD DAMN When he started flipping the sticks I went mad bro
Perfect for jazz? What??
Paweł Morrison ikr. they sound like crap
What a jokester
Man I thought the comments were being overly harsh til I hit the ending. Bro just play a regular groove that was so over the top lol
I was going to comment on his frenzy of playing......then I read that most of the commenters already have. No need to say it again - though I will add that it is very IMMATURE. Major loss of respect.
Vell done !! Very crisp !! ✌😎💣💥
This is what my neighbor kids do when they play my drums and I have to ask them to stop.
whoa! you are freaking amazing!
And not one actual beat was played....bravo.
Can I borrow some of that speed, please?
welcome
El top de este hi hat está muy apretado y no permite que suene libremente y aparte puede causar una rotura!!!
I was going to leave a comment but looks like everyone else has already made the point I was going to make.
amazing
I've hated this guy's playing for 10 years now, I guess. Time flies
Flip those stick like that was amazing ! Paiste 900 look nice , sound ok. But I stick with Pst 7
WTF kind of a demo was that? I feel like this drummer, while obviously fast, had missed the point of the demo.
When you actually play them they're fine. I have a set of 15" heavy hihats, a 16" crash and a 16" China. When you're done showing off your stick tricks and fancy playing they sound ace.
Dylan! he and Dylan McCarty- two of my favorites!
Might as well call this series the butcher series, because they cut through everything lol. They do sound pretty good though. Thanks for the review.
So I'm watching and the dude starts playing and, well, did not see that coning...
Nice to hear the good old Kiwi accent!
Props for the stick tricks!
Ooo so fancy. Play a Fucking beat..
I thought I hit the fast forward button!
Drummer... juggler... I didn't get it....
He lost me when he said let hear the cymbals with the kit or speed stick
Surely I'm not the only one who likes the sound of all of them except* the China. Not diggin the China.
Why drink a Red Bull? Just hit these a couple times then 2min later you can’t hold it in any longer.
Suenan casi igual que el paister 201
ORGASMIC SOUND
Play a goddamned beat! Seriously...
WTH kind of a cymbal demonstration was that!!??
Was this a Paiste 900 demo or a drum solo demo????🤷🏾 Just simply playing a straight groove would've sufficed.😄
WEll that was stupid to watch..I like the cymbals though..yeesh
Lol, this was meant to be a joke, right🤨..... Come on, is he serious 🤭🤣😂🤫🤔
Uhh, ummmh.....wait.
90% drums 10% cymbal playing for the demo. I don't get why these guys do this during youtube demo's
Didn't this guy used to be a street drummer, or am I thinking about someone else with the name Dylan?
😲🧠
lol
Worthless demo..dude only showcased his skills. Grow up sir. Thank you for your time.
He plays for Blood, Sweat, and Tears???? I have a strong suspicion he did not get the gig by doing any of his flashy stuff. I'm sure word of mouth about his flashy playing got around the industry but it wasn't that playing that got him his gig i bet.
🥴awesome
am I starting to hear a Yankee twang in his Kiwi accent?
kirwan1414 I thought the exact same thing lol. He's been touring with blood sweat and tears so it's no surprise really.
Just review the sound of the cymbals, who gives two shits about all that flashy nonsense, people want to hear the cymbals breath and open up on their own.

Rhythmista "humble"
Regarding the hats, the Sound Edge models are higher pitched. The 15" heavies may be more to your liking.

Sonny Payne would be proud
Malo Dylan, well done uso! #AotearoaReprezent #PaisteRocks
Ignore the comment below mine :)
Lol stick tricks are funny
They sound like shit to me ill stick to my 2002 series thankyou
What a drummer
I hate to say it, but Paiste struck out with this series.. The Pst 7 blows these away
great player, your sound reminded me of Danny Carey
Clanky cymbals and completely unmusical playing.
This is actually a TERRIBLE video! Like most of us, I wanted to hear the cymbals in a REAL context. All this guy is doing is showing off his chops. Sell the cymbals, dude - Play A Groove!!
Terrible demo
Horrible demo, this guy is trolling us with his horrible, unmusical drumming. Love the cymbals, love Paiste, ditch this drummer
Ha. Mad playing, and they look great - but they sound pretty shit to me, tbh ... 😕
Kieren Moore pst7 are a gem 💎 and cheaper
I stopped this video, @ 0:13. Don't know, lf the rest was any good? It really makes me sick, Seeing Drummers, Riding-Off, Crash-Cymbals, Like that! Makes me wanna puke! They're Crash-Cymbals, For cryin', Out Loud!!!!!!!!!!
this Is the worst review i've seen in years
It was informative in then out of the blue, it turns into this frenetic whirlwind of dervish. I just wanted to hear two and four, ya know?
Coby Utterback For a review, two and four is great.
What a joke of a demo
This was the most extra cymbal demo I have ever watched........ made me not want to buy them..
Dumbest demo ever
Useless demo.....
remove this crap demo
Dylan sold out
Nice flex but what a horrible demo
JUST PLAY, MAN! No one wants to hear the artsy fartsy cymbal dinglinging! No one plays like that, or at least not for long.
He's got plenty of videos online of him grooving with those exact same cymbals. And he demonstrated them too, stop hating. And he has solos with him playing that fast for almost 10 minutes.
DYLAN IS "THE BEAST". look up Dylan on UA-cam and stop complaining. He has more skills in his pinky than.......
... your mom? 🤣
