i'm 23 and going through hair loss and it's such a blow to my confidence
Shave your head, and you will get your confidence back. Trust me on that.
@@l.s.754 i did spend one year shaving my head. people love to comment on a young guy with no hair, people also love to comment on a young guy with hair loss. it’s a difficult toss up
Hang in there man, if you don’t want to shave it, keep it short and styled for as long as you can. Keep some facial hair to draw the eye away from your head. The confidence will come.
you are more than your hair, unless you are a woman O.o Women seem to care more about their hair than men do
My Dad started going bald when he was in his 20s. He's almost 91, still has hair around his lower scalp (Like a monk lol) but my mom loved him for over 70 years! He still says,"Grass won't grow on a busy street!" and, "God made a few perfect heads. The rest He covered with hair." I have a loose "turkey" neck, genetic. I embrace it, it reminds me of my late mother and grandmother, and they were beautiful. So are YOU!
I am 32, and I started losing my hair at 16. I want to say a few things about it.
Realizing I was balding as a teenager was hard. It felt so unfair, and I felt I was the only one. It fucked up my self-esteem for a long time. I tried treatments such as Minoxidil, but they didn't seem to do anything. I browsed the internet for different kind of solutions, but it was soon clear, that the best any treatment could provide was slowing down the process, usually not even stopping it. Over a period of several years I tried to cover my hear with bandanas or caps, refusing to shave my long blond hair. I was numbed by the fact, that while we can medicate and treat all kinds of illnesses, balding isn't curable.
At the age of 20 finally shaved my head completely. After that I found such a relief, that it felt like almost getting my hair back: I didn't have to worry about it anymore. I coud be myself. I didn't have to have a near panic-attack, if I had to go somewhere where I couldn't wear a hat. Now, at the age of 32, I love how I look. I recently reached the point where I'd been balding for over half my life, and I realized, I haven't been thinking about it for ages.
As a man, bald as an egg, and as a soon-to-be doctor, I would strongly suggest: don't go down the path of trying to flee balding. It won't work, and you'll be so disappointed in the end. If you feel balding affects your self-esteem, seek help, because that can be arranged. Embrace yourself, bald or not. It is a matter of you own mind, not body.
May your future be as bright as the reflection from the top of my head on a sunnny day.
Wise words , nobody likes to go bald but we live in a society too focused on external appearance
this is a great comment. i'm 23 and have been experiencing hair loss in my early twenties and it's completely killing my confidence. i spent one year shaving my head completely, which helped a bit, but people love to comment on it and i'm constantly reminded that i "look like a 40 year old" and "need a trip to turkey". i've returned to growing the hair on my head, keeping it short and styled but the comments continue.
i wish there was more space in society for younger balding men without it being the spectacle that people make it out to be.
Did you grow a big beard instead? I had a good friend who went bald in highschool and grew a giant beard instead; he looks great!
I'm definitely balding since I was 24 (I'm 28) and I'm delaying the inevitable: shaving my head. It 100% looks better than trying to hide it. I tried Minoxidyl but I was kind of allergic to it, and I will not take any oral medication like finasteride for aesthetic reasons. Be bald, be bold
@@twominutenudels I think I sort of know, what you are going through. I used to wear a bandana for a while to hide the fact I was bald, but eventually, I took it off. I suppose it's one of those things that need a little time.
Guys, don't lose hope. As someone who has the most aggressive hair loss (my two brothers were Norwood 7 by 28-30), not to mention aggressive retrograde alopecia as well, all my cousins in both families are Norwood 6-7 by 30. I am 32 and have managed to keep 90% of my hair. Unfortunately I experienced bad side effects from finasteride and had to quit. However, using minoxidil + microneedling saved my hair. I strongly believe that DHT is related to blood circulation, which in turn due to low supply leads to hair loss. I used a derma roller + minoxidil and kept losing hair. Once I switched to a high-quality pen, within two months my shedding stopped and my hair started to get thicker by month 4 with a lot of new growth. I have followed this protocol for 5 years and haven't lost ground. It's possible-just be consistent. use a good Pen and do NOT skip sessions. If it worked for me, it should work for EVERYONE.
which pen brand are you using? thanks for this comment by the way
how many mm are you using for the scalp?
Korabeauticals, theirs needles are currently the thinnest in the market as far as I know
1.5mm once a week, never missed a treatment
do you suggest any oil/balsam/whatever to use additionally to the needle pen?
I got regrowth after my vitamin D critical deficiency treatment. Had it as low as 7 ng (normal is above 30), been applying vitamin D locally as ointment (calcipotriol). So check your vit D levels as well guys
How long did it take?
@@lucasp8047 i noticed regrowth after 3-4 months. Its not alot but definetly got few more new hairs on temps.
Vitamin d3 and b12 how many days or month you saw results? Please reply
Wow, same here, I have it exactly at 7.82 ng, although I haven't started treatment yet and I'm not losing hair, but I'm always tired
I have Ms, hypothyroidism, Hashimotos, & severe psoriasis. Was at 8ng and put on 50000 iu last week. I’m hoping to see improvement. Having thick curly hair to sparse was so depressing
Just today I came to the realization that I'm balding at 21 and you drop this video. That's funny af.
I thought I was balding since that age and 30 yrs later still have hair
@@psynurse I started balding at 25, 9 years later I still have some hair left but the baldness is noticeable
I am balding at 17😢😢
I just shaved the fucker off no use being in denial and accept being bald. It ain't that bad tbh
As someone who is not a doctor but very interested in all these kind of topics I cannot believe you guys share all of this information and we can access it for free. Thank you so much
Welcome to the Internet
Im 29 and started losing my hair at 23. I waited until 26 and got a hair transplant. In all honesty its so worth it because it a huge confidence boost (at least for me). Also if you visit a good clinic etc they will transplant hair to areas that will be subject to hair loss. I paid 3000$ and couldnt be happier tbh. Even if it means spending another 3000$ in 10 yeard id do it without any hesitation
Based comment
Don't ever do a hair transplant, you will regret at later year. It doesn't worth it!
Make sure to still keep taking treatments to halt the progression, it's not a permanent solution.
Why ?@@Scott-xq2dm
@@Scott-xq2dm it has been 3 years for this guy and it doesn't sound like he regrets it. Thanks for providing useful information.
It's quite reassuring when your paternal grandfather is almost in his 80s, and he's still not balding (or maybe a tiny bit). Unfortunately, he has other issues, notably stage 4 cancer that had spread from his intestines to his liver.
Update: He died on April 15th, 2024.
That's awful. Sorry to hear that.
...cancer vs balding...tough choice...

I’ve fighting this for years. Minoxidil didn’t work. But I’m a female with PCOS. You could make a video about that. This could make a whole series. Male patterns, insulin resistance, infertility…
Do fasting
Then I guess you have hyperandrogenic PCOS? Ask your doctor for anti-androgens. That should help
@@Thomas-mx1fh Thank you. I’ve lived with this for 30 years. I’m closer to menopause now. Doctors only know birth control pills. I’ve seen dozens of them in more than one country. I’m getting in peace with how I look.
Try Berberine for PCOS, my wife had it, took over a decade to have children, but changing to a healthy diet such as low carb and high protein made a difference, but eating plenty vegetables was fine, with natural supplements.
Minoxidil may not be enough. You might need to look at DHT blockers for women. I recommend topical DHT blockers like finasteride (NOT Oral), but see a doctor to recommend safe options. If you have PCOS, you likely have more DHT in your scalp.
I started walking every day and changed my diet but not for hair regrowth. I have no idea what did it but my hair has grown back so much thicker since.
Acute nutrient deficiencies can also cause hair loss, independent of DHT levels and DHT sensitivity. Certain vitamins and minerals and other nutrients are vital for healthy hair, including iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, vitamin B12, vitamin C, omega 3, adequate protein and more. Deficiencies in any of those can exacerbate hair loss, but none of them are likely to "cure" DHT related hair loss. There are also foods high in natural DHT blockers, like lycopene in tomatoes and papaya, or curcuminoids in turmeric, and certain fatty acids, such as oleic acid found in olive oil, etc, though none of those are anywhere near as potent as actual DHT blocking drugs. High blood sugar from a poorly balanced diet and/or lack of exercise may also affect hair health and certain negative lifestyle habits, like smoking may negatively affect hair health. Stopping smoking may reverse some of the damage. Walking (and exercise in general) may also increase cardiovascular health, which may increase blood flow and oxygen levels to the scalp, reducing the effect of DHT, but again unlikely to "cure" DHT related hair loss by itself. Sleep hygiene and stress management are also important. None of these are likely to be an effective cure-all, but all of these in combination, however, may have a noticeable effect on hair density and thickness, and in a best case scenario, may visibly reverse hair loss. Personally I noticed new hair growth after supplementing iron, zinc and B12 for unrelated health reasons, and noticed more new hair growth after switching to a much healthier and much better balanced whole food diet. I also exercise more and started doing relatively intense daily scalp massages to reduce scalp tension and increase blood flow, with some success. My receding hairline has been slowly reversing, and my hair is thicker and denser. Fingers crossed that the trend continues.
Vitamin d from sun exposure, destress
What was your changed diet? Please help
get a dr pen 1.5 mm once a week n coconut n rosemary daily. Good luck.@@sundiataq
What were your before and after diet?
Definitely a confidence killer. Stress is a big factor. Also, I like playing with/ pulling my hair which doesn’t help at all.
That strengthens the scalp and promotes more blood flow. Inflammatory response

The worst part is to have the most wild body hairs on the whole body with lush black thick hairs only to met with thin brittle hairs that are falling on the scalp

High DHT does that to a man :/
DHT promotes both baldness at the scalp, and stronger growth on the body.
Could you do a video about teeth. What is the structure, why they decay, how can they be repaired, gum disease, bone loss, bone grafting and how that works. Thanks.
I have been having dental issues the last two years. It started with a large cyst above a front tooth. Now I lost a neighboring tooth. Both areas have been bone grafted for implants. Until then, I have one front tooth and spaces on each side of that. Talking and eating are affected along with the physical looks, causing even more depression than I already suffer with.
Agree I think bad teeth definitely affects your prospects , job or other than a bald head, even the guy in the video looks like he has been blessed with great teeth genes!
There are a few factors on why teeth decay. The obvious one is poor diet. When people drink too many fizzy drinks. It too much candy or high sugary products. Also not getting enough nutrient absorption in the body.
Also smoking 🚬 decays teeth
I have many teeth issues too, i'm sorry that you're having to deal with this painful & potentially embarrassing, probably confidence knocking also.
I'm very into DNA for both health & genealogical research. I had a full genome sequence taken with Nebula Genomics, due to several other painful & debilitating incurable medical diagnoses. For all researched diseases & medical issues, it gives you a percentile (like growth charts for children), so basically they provide you with a likelihood of scientifically researched problems linked with specific genes. I was shocked to have found out that I am in the 100th percentile for Dental Carries [2019 study; Dmitry Shungin, et al.], where they identified 47 genetic variants that are contibuted to Dental Carries... This is, of course, not the only genetic study concerning oral health.
For me, this 100th percentile makes a lot of sense, as i've not had much luck with my teeth all throughout my life, so shouldn't have been so surprised, but it was interesting.
Same .. actually I fd up my teeths as I had a rct done on sep 2022 but didn't got the cap nd now it's paining...also starting to see pain and Caries in other tooths too ...gums are weak get bruised and cut while brushing then pain and bleeding...I also get ulcers very often ....the painful teeths and the thoughts of treatment everything is so much hassle ....now Idk what to ... what would I say to my dentist where I was since 1.2 yrs 😂 ..guess I'll be having frequent dentist visits from now often...also I'm dealing with mental problems too... there's so much to deal with ... strength to everyone suffering guys❤
@aries did you ever had an extraction...if yes how does it feel ...is it painful or not
I would never expect such an academic channel to promote a product and then during the explanation just say they don't know why it works
Scuence Academia is always evolving. A medication/device being used by a group report a change to something else they've been experiencing a new study starts and boom we have a med/device that treats two different illnesses/disorders/diseases.
Them stating they don't know why it works is because they don't, they just know that it does. We don't know the how behind every med/device that effects different aspects of your body. I would be more suspicious of them if they claimed to know the how about everything. That's when you should doubt them.

The best and far cheapest "cure" for hair loss not mentioned is acceptance. Society and videos like this tells us that baldness is ugly and wrong. Just find your bald style and be happy with the way you look. Being confident about it makes you way more attractive than any attempt to restore hair will. And if people don't accept you or try to shame you for it, you are not the problem, they are.
Finasteride has stopped it in its tracks for years.
It was one of the best decisions in my life so far.

I think since the hair and cosmetic industry is so big, hair follicle cloning will be available in the next 10 years and getting a full head of hair will be very possible but expensive
Turned 30 last month. Always had lots of hair, never would've thought to have this problem ever in my life (not until my 40s at least). But had a new, shorter hairstyle done in January (which I had been doing every 5-6 months and wasn't noticing anything strange), and was very surprised by the amount of skin that was visible on the top of the head. Had been feeling the same as my 23-25-year-old self up until that moment. Now I'm on vitamines, applying niacin to the skin on the top of the head once in three days and using a popular brand shampoo that claims to help with the issue, too.
Let's see what you've got in your video for me. Thank you for the upload!
try finasteride the earlier the better
start with 0.25mg for 1 week, see if side effects are there, then go for 0.5 mg for 1.5 weeks same stuff, and finally 1mg
If there is no sides even on that dose for 5 month you can go cheaper and buy 90 tablets of proscar 5mg for at least 3 years and split one tablet in 4.
Dont hesitate just try it can be worth
@@Alex-wg1mb thank you very much for the advice, I'll look into it!
@@vitaly2432 Please don't thank me) It is just a small suggestion. Also dont fatten yourself beyond bmi 28+ and be cautious about stress and beer.
From what I remember, body's cannabinoid receptors also play a role in the complex mechanism of hair loss & regrowth. But it's harder to get results from natural extracts as they have mixtures of chemicals that simultaneously agonize and antagonize CB1 and CB2.
Also, I remember seeing an article where topical 3% peppermint oil was applied on the shaved backs of mice and it did wonders when visually compared with Minoxidil, over just 1 month period. I just googled it again and seems as though others noted this particular study too, as I found the image inserted on a different website.

it's important to say that the hair loss comes with a lot more than what meets the eye for a person who is lossing the hair, things like depression, low self esteem, and a lot of other psichological stressfull isuues that people in general just dont take in acquaintance, this is a really serious problem that should not be take lightly.

Could have mentioned another rather surprising thing about the arrector pili muscle: its absence has been implicated as a causal factor in androgenic alopecia! In 2014 Torkamani et al demonstrated that in AGA the APM is gradually replaced by fat, and eventually detaches from the follicle. This detatchment is supposedly the line in the sand beyond which irreversible miniaturisation occurs. This is sort of where the story ends (for now), although in 2020 it was shown that the neurons innervating the APM go on to form "synapse-like connections" with the hair follicle stem cell supply. The implication being that every part of the hair follicle anatomy is crucial to proper hair growth.
Take care of your mental health, and you're saving so much of your hair.
Love you guys, excellent content as usual, congratulations from Colombia!

Minoxidil, Finasteride and a dermapen (Dr.Pen specifically) have been a game changer. I would highly recommend for anyone trying to combat hair loss.
Yes. True. minoxidil works well. But It's a life time process. If you stop using all hair will fall off which minoxidil helps to grow and the remaining hair also. And the truth is that erectile dysfunction occurs. It's rather to be a man with no hair. Or be a man with temporary hair that can fall off anytime and be bad at sex. Chose wisely.

Thanks for the video. I'm curious about two things:
1. How trichotillomania affects hair growth and regrowth. Even as I was watching the video, I was pulling at my facial hair. I've been pulling different hair types for ~20 years, starting as an early teen. It started with eyelashes, knuckle hairs, and arm hairs. Now, it is almost entirely beard hairs, standout hairs (thick, dark, gray, long, isolated) on the body, from moles, on my ears, eyebrows, and on and in the nose.
2. The upper halves of my thighs (where the pant pockets would be) are bare, while the rest of my legs are hairy. I assume this is from a lifestyle influence where I almost always had my hands in my pockets for many years.

@@eduardo479 I don't fancy giving out too much information, but i'll think about it. It is definitely reversible for the thin part of hair, can't say anything about the part where hair is gone.
@@sanmouthera2104 👍
I use topical Finasteride.
Thank you for going over all the pros and cons of each type of treatment.
I really wish I ever looked like Thor in the first place lol
4 persons are calmly sleeping behind you.. 😂😂
This is the best video on hairfall topic on the internet. Period.
Thanks so much for the video, I found it very useful.
I have one question though, should I stop using Minoxidil if I develop irritation in my scalp?
Thanks again!
Apply hair serum to scalp 5 min before applying Minoxidil. After 5 min apply Minoxidil, it will reduce irritation and absorbs deeply into scalp.
Can you do a video on growing your first beard? And what affect Derma rollers and monoxidill, as well peppermint, rosemary and other oils on facial hair growth?
Lift more weights 💪
I would be curious to know how stress contributes to hair loss as well 🤔
My husband showed symptoms of alopecia areata, just within one year of our long distance marriage while struggling to pass exam (master degree) and job hunting. He’s found to have extreme vitamin D deficiency too. It’s an autoimmune disease, but the main trigger could be stress.
Play the cards that are given to you. If you are going bald. Figure out how to look good bald. I had to let my beard grow and shave my head completely in order to compensate for my balding. It attracted a different type of female which I was perfectly ok with. Play around with your look. See how it looks with a 5'oclock shadow, a full grown beard, etc.
Yeah most of the time when I see people really putting in tons of effort to regrow hair once it's gotten bad, they end up only looking like an older balding man with a combover style haircut
Assumimg you are able to grow a beard
*Cries in beardlessness*
Sadly we can’t all grow a big beard 😭
How did the types of women differ?
I can already see the startof my pattern at 17, and its horrifying! Good thing yall released this video 😝
This is going to be your most watched videos 🎉🎉🎉
Facts
Would you consider making a video about greying hair? Is it possible to make grey hair grow black again or up to what age can the greying effect be reversed?
It’s a part of getting older. Just accept it.
I believe it is possible as I saw with my own eyes.
How?@@davidt4053
Copper deficiency is all.
Could you elaborate? Are you a doctor as your username suggests?@@drseanpatrick696
Nothing like watching your favourite creator making videos on your interests. Thanks🔥
Lots of support from India❤️
Thank you!❤️
this is such a tricky topic and you have explained everything in a simple way. i had hair fall after second pregnancy ,tried many home remedies but nothing helped. i have been using ThriveCo hair growth serum from past 5 months and i see huge reduction in hair fall. the hair thinning issue is also under control
I'm 38, and I've been using minoxidil for nearly a decade now. It worked amazingly well for the first couple of years in terms of giving you more hair, but gradually its effectiveness diminished. Now it hardly does anything but I still use it everyday out of fear that if I stop completely I will lose all of my remaining hair
thx
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
I'm a first year medical student in India and your video really helps and with some entertainment.
Thanks alot.
what about just accepting who you are and how you look?
Please make a video on PRP treatments once the research is done
As a balding guy, this is a great video. What's the deal with eyebrow, nose, and ear hair growth? All at once, it has a longer growth faze? Yet just inches away, the scalp has a shorter. This sucks!
More Plates More Dates collab please!
We are definitely open to something like that!
Thank you for cleaning up on this topic
What is the effectiveness on that Irestore? is it a visible difference or?
Remember: Long term safety of laser treatment has not be established.
Step one to preventing hair loss?
Pick the right parents - sorry, too easy :)
In my unscientific, and small sample size observation:
2 of 3 of us brothers have very full heads of hair post age 50, with one brother "folliclely challenged" :)
...despite 2 bald grandfathers, but a father with a full head of hair at age 85.
😂
How I didn't think about this before?
What I don't understand is that going bald doesn't make you dumber, less athletic, less skilled or incompetent or bad at your job yet it makes us feel like we're less worthy. Everything negative that comes with it is simply invented by culture. Even if there was some link to a "health issue" that would make you less viable in evolutionary terms, artificially growing it back is not going to change that. I'm starting to believe that we purposely manufacture this as a bad trait so we can create a huge industry to combat it and take people's money. That's pernicious AF.
Started going bald at 19, used a toupee for several years because my mother was really concerned about looks and transferred that insecurity to me. Decided to completely shave my head at 27. It changed my life, it gave me back my self confidence not to mention people telling me I look better this way.
I wish a video about fast and slow metabolism, and body types like ectomoporh, endomorpth, etc
Ectomorph etc. Are a very pop science way of understanding body types and dont really exist
@@CrazyMegaOmega I know, I just want his statement about it as an ordinary reference
I've been slowly balding for around 10 years. I couldn't give two figs if I was losing hair or not. Less to dry and comb.
Great video, this video would’ve been extremely helpful a couple months ago because I wrote a research paper on male patterned baldness for my anatomy class.
Fun fact, finastride has multiple uses. In addition to baldness treatment, finastride is also used as a treatment for prostate cancer by inhibiting the production of DHT which has been linked to controlling prostate growth.
I also read something about ketoconazole shampoo being helpful. Not sure what the mechanism behind that is.
Thanks. Now google's gonna push hair regrowth videos on me for half a year and I'm not losing any hair at all 😂
I was surprised you did not go over arsenic poisoning causing hair loss.
Well I mean it's not every day that someone gets arsenic poisoning
Plz make a video on hair greying too.. How to prevent premature greying😊
I'm 34 and finally started to notice hair thinning the past year, although I have so much hair that you wouldn't notice. However the hairline itself seems to be intact so it's more of a loss of overall density.
The hair on my head is ridiculously thick, but barely any hair on the rest of my body, i think it's the Mexican in me, dad is the same, also we can barely grow facial hair 😂😂
trade ya!
