Through our travels we have come to realize that the common thread between people is that they are just trying to make a decent living and raise their families and have a good life. People have more in common than not. Great video!
Unfortunately we have some people inside the favela who end up getting involved in wrong things, but most of the people who live in the favelas are hardworking and humble.
I just basicly said the same thing before reading your comments. The world is a beautiful place filled with beautiful souls and the magic is in exploring it all!
Snow, omg! My knees were hurting just watching you climb and climb and climb. All I kept thinking, how do they get groceries up to their homes?😮 You both find the most beautiful people, in the most beautiful places. Simon, you are the thread that weaves throughout the world and connects the the truth about humanity. Curt and Snow show that no matter where we are born, good will find good, joy will find joy and life will find life. Some of us are ready to give up, and then, we see the spirit of humanity is really about love. Thank you. Rio is absolutely beautiful. 😊
Oh my, that was incredible! Simon, thank you so much for being our guide to an amazing neighborhood! I learned so much. Such a great gift! …. And Snow, I hope your knee is recovering! Take care. What an adventure. ❤
OMG!!! Tears of joy watching Snow dance!!! Here we are - one year after such scary days, and Snow Is Dancing!!! Christ the Redeemer started my tears, and winding thru those little streets felt so authentic! ... a little nervous about Curt's upcoming hike, but by now, I'm confident you'll make it, fella!! ... perseverance furthers ... 😺💜
This is so interesting!! I love how you show things that are not just tourist stuff. You really gave a great feeling for the neighborhood. Thank you so much for such an amazing tour.
I never thought I’d enjoy touring a Favela. Such interesting facts and incredible videography. My favorite part of your travels is the good people you find everywhere you go. Watching your videos is like riding It’s A Small World at Disney World. 😊
❤❤❤ Thank you for videos like this. You are educating people and opening minds and hearts. Hopefully, you never judge a person by their culture or where they live or how much they make. And I think it's wonderful that you guys are opening up the world to other people. Maybe you can encourage others to see the humanity we share... And the similarities and not focus so much on the differences.❤
Guys !!! So thrilled you took me to a favela - have always wanted to (safely) explore one. Beautiful that you also showed us everyday life. The dronescapes are a real eye-opener. Thank you so mucho 🙏🙂❤️💃🌿
What a marvelous, honorable tour you took us on. I could tell by the end you were pretty tired out and just thank you for giving of yourselves to bring us history and present day living in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. Life is lived so many great ways! Btw, Snow, you danced great. Really swinging those hips after much walking uphill!! Fabulous video. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s hike!
Stowe and Kurt, this video was unbelievable! I have loved all of your journeys since I started following you but because I love history of all countries and the culture this tour that you took us on has been amazing. Thank you so very much!
Kudos to you. I'm Brazilian, lived not too far from Rio and never had the courage to visit any favela. BTW, I hope you take the time to visit my hometown, Petropolis. It's about 1hr from Rio. Petropolis was the summer retreat for the Royal family back in the imperial era. It's a very charming town with German history as well. ❤ The royal palace became a museum and the German architecture is noticeable in many places throughout the city ❤
I am so glad that you made the point of how people all over the world, no matter the reputation of the area they live in, are just doing the same things we as Americans do. We all just want to do right by our families. We all work hard to that. Most of all we are all proud of our cultures and enjoy the company of good friends, a good meal and a beautiful view. We all have more in common than we have differences. Just like there are places in the USA I wouldn't venture for safety sake, it is same in any country. Just always be respectful and listen to the advice of the locals on the places to avoid but also the best places to go and when to go there. Love you guys! Again, as always thank you so much for taking us along on your adventure.
You both gave us viewers an EXCEPTIONAL tour of Rio ...... Totally AMAZING !!! "We thank you'" and Simon, as well.. for his knowledge of the city, and the people .... GREAT video !!!!!!!
Hi Guys ! Snow thank so much the way you spoke about " Rocinha ". Even for brazilian, favelas are misunderstood. They are a hard working community, like everywhere and anywhere. Enjoy Rio!! I'm always miss that city. Great video.
I loved your last video a lot but this one tops it! So fascinating to learn about other cultures and see how other people live their lives. You are so respectful and honestly interested the people you talk to and film . Thanks for sharing.
I have been watching your videos since you started traveling in Central America and have enjoyed them immensely. I will be sorry when you leave the continent. But never fear, I will be with you wherever you travel in the world. This episode was fantastic. Snow, I give you a lot of credit hopping on the bike for the ride up the mountain. Thanks for what you do.
The Christ The Redeemer statue is beautiful. Interesting music and snow can to dance! The artwork is wonderful! As an artist myself, I really appreciate RioDeJaneiro artists and their works.
I only went into Rocinha once, sixty years ago. I was six. So, although it was no surprise, thank you for updating the image I had in my mind. However, Rio is multicultural and has different realities. The favela is real, ok. But we also have the traditional suburbs of Zona Norte, the affluent Zona Sul, the ever-growing Barra da Tijuca, and the somehow distant Baixada, all different cultures and realities. I wish Curt success when climbing the Pedra da Gávea. It must be quite a strenuous hike. (There is another huge monolith facing Pedra da Gávea. It is the Pedra Bonita, where the gliders take off from. The hike to the top is much easier, and you have a beautiful view of Pedra da Gávea). I look forward to following this new adventure and hope the weather is good up there.
Love the cultural immersion experience. My month in Costa Rica was spent that way. Off the beaten path, living amongst the locals and getting the true feel for the amazing country! No touristy resorts!! 😁. Thanks for the tour it was amazing to see the real Rio. As well as the tourist destinations.
CURT and SNOW. Congratulations!!!
Oh my! What an interesting tour! Thank you for taking us along. Snow, I hope you get some rest after that adventure! You were a real trooper considering your knee pain and the hills and stairways.. I hope that's let up. I enjoy going with you in your travels. It's almost as much fun as being there! Best regards always!
Great work, Snow and Curt! I am a Rio native who’s been living abroad since 1997. This video definitely stirred up some emotions here, and made me homesick. Thanks for sharing and keep on having a blast in my home country!
This was a fascinating video, the way the people carved out lives for themselves on a vertical space was so cool, everyone strives to have a home of their own,it is natural desire over the world to do this.
So I had to finish this after I got home. What fun! I love watching the joy and friendship you show everyone you meet. I held my breath with all the climbing that Snow did. I bet you were tired when you got home. What a wonderful in bassador you would make Snow. I thoroughly enjoyed going along with you in your journey. ❤ Be blessed!
Rio de Janeiro has many hearts, Kurt. The thing I love about my city is the diversity of places and people. I really liked what Snow said in the end of the tour. It shows that you guys try to look beyond the surface
I agree. Brazil is stunning and by far the most diverse country I have visited and one of my favorites as well. In my opinion Rio de Janeiro deserves its standing as one of the cities in the world everyone should visit. Truly unique and colorful.
I'm Brazilian from the state of Amazonas, I don't know Rio de Janeiro, but it's cool to see it through your video, I liked the video, but personally I don't have the courage to enter favelas.
Snow dancing! What a joy. I agree with you that we need to rethink our view of the „favelas“. I just returned from a few weeks of teaching in a favela-based mental health agency and, oh my, I don‘t know who learned more - the students or myself.
Snow and Curt, I don’t even know what to say, I can’t believe the climbing you are able to do Snow, it is amazing to see. Simon was an exceptional tour guide and the show those young guys put on, and Snow dancing with them…my gosh, so cool! I would love to be standing up there seeing Christ the Redeemer, it must have been amazing even in the sea of people. I love how you both honour different cultures and see the good in people, it is evident that that is what is in your hearts! Fantastic video!💕🇨🇦
Wow…..so interesting……wonderful video!! Having Simon as your guide really brought the favelas to light. Loved all the amazing views, the people, the history, the bikers, the food and the scary narrow passageways. Thanks very much, Curt and Snow! 😍🥰😍🥰😍
One of your very best videos yet! Thankyou for getting guides to show us the bustling real life community of that Favela, it is quite magnificent really.
What an incredible experience!! You two are like ambassadors for the US. I imagine you helped the people you met in the flavela to have a better understanding of Americans as much as you learned about the reality of people in the flavela. Capoeira is such a beautiful art. A teacher and her family at my youngest son’s middle school were studying it. They gave a performance at the school and it was breathtaking. Their costumes were beautiful.
You did an amazing job of showing how people actually live day to day in a favela.Usually we only hear the shocking things but you gave us a glimpse of real everyday life.
That was wonderful. I agree it is important to dispel the myths of places. When in Beijing we stayed in a Huton area and the people were so kind and generous. I learned so much! And frankly, I didn’t want to leave. We avoided the tourist places (called Western, referring to America). and it was the best. We walked at least 17kms a day. I would go back in a heartbeat.
We are not your typical tourists ... Part of our long journey around the world is to learn about different cultures and people. Not just the pretty stuff... All of it. We have visited the communas of Medellin, rural fishing villages in Chile, rural farms of Nicaragua, isolated mountain towns deep in Mexico, indigenous villages in Chiapas, the south side of Chicago, areas of Peru with no refrigeration, the homeless allies of Seattle, the former gorilla towns of El Salvador.... This was not a tourist attraction for us. We truly enjoy sharing with the world how other people live and survive. We also show the hidden gems and unknown beautiful places of the countries we visit.... we never want to offend anyone, but favelas are part of Brazil... Just as much as the Amazon and the beautiful beaches.
Good video and I appreciate the video. I also want to say good for Snow looking fit and walking through Brazil as well. It was good to see you two go in and learn about the favelas and talking with the people. Thank you both guys..
What an excellent trip through Rio. Thank you two, Simon and Ork (?) so much! Now, this is the difference between being a tourist and being a traveler! Bravo!
Superb video. Simon and his company were awesome. Loved the Favela and your coverage of it. Snow, what a hike eh? Whew, rest up. Loved your dancing. You can no longer say, " I can't dance." Good luck tomorrow Curt. Be careful one of my friends was attacked on a hike in Guatemala.. Read up on the safety.
You say that as if the USA is the safest country in the world and there are no crazy, psychopathic people who go around attacking others. Well, from what I know, in the USA, anyone can have a gun and that's why so many people go into schools, cinemas, churches, etc. and go around killing everyone. The evil of North Americans is thinking that their country is the best in the world. It's not knowing anything about other cultures. You are intellectually alienated. Your friend was attacked in Guatemala. You say this as if there is no danger and crime in the USA. Please spare me.
Wow!!! What a fabulous experience! Looks like you had THE BEST guides to show you things that most people will never experience! Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures with us.
Traveling with you guys is so much fun! Wow, what a ride. I am so glad I found you both. Once again, even if I traveled there I wouldn't be getting the experience you are showing us. Cheers.
The last 2 videos have been so interesting and informative. Curt , I'm anxiously waiting to see you on your hike. Till next video stay safe and have a good time.
When I heard the song.... I knew it was perfect for the people that live there! Choosing our music is one of our favorite parts of editing, so thank you for noticing the lyrics!!
Amazing adventure! I'm proud of you, Snow. You gave that new knee a workout today not to mention the workout you gave your heart. I'm so happy you made it. Wonder woman for sure
Hey guys, I’m really enjoying you in Brazil, my country has some problems we know that but 99,9% of the people here are very friendly and kind, even the most part of them don’t speak English they try the best to make visitors feels comfortable here. Thanks for showing the world that they can come here and enjoy the beauty that we have all over Brazil.
When I saw this picture of the Christ the Redeemer with this background landscape and the super blue sky, I was moved and felt very proud to be Brazilian. Even with so many problems we have, it is still my home, the land I was born in and where I will die... But in the meantime, I will definitely make the most of it, and I'll live life and explore the world, just as you all are doing. Thank you very much for these images!
Thanks for the great Favela tour. I live in a Favela-like neighborhood in the hills of Sao Paulo with my Brazilian husband and his family. Your video tour was one of best I have seen on UA-cam. I can tell you did the research and hired quality tourguides. It appears to be much steeper there than here in SP, but there are similarities.
Thank you'all so much for sharing your journey. Packing our luggage to visit my family in Brazil this month. Howdy from New Orleans guys. Be safe and much love!
Wow, Snow and Curt, thank you for taking me on a motorcycle ride through a favela. I replayed the ride multiple times to really look at everything. Plus, great song choice.
Oh my gracious! What a fantastic video. Thank you so much for sharing your travels. The video AND commentary are spectacular! I wish I could drag my little old lady self along with you on your journey - and these videos allow me to “almost” do that.
Through our travels we have come to realize that the common thread between people is that they are just trying to make a decent living and raise their families and have a good life. People have more in common than not. Great video!

@lone6796 That can be true any where. We all just do the best we can.
Unfortunately we have some people in Ipanema and Barra who choose to fund this problem for their own pleasure.
Snow, omg! My knees were hurting just watching you climb and climb and climb.
So many beautiful places to go, did you go to rio de janeiro?Courage! welcome to visit other cities in Brazil
Wow. I don't know how the two of you manage to exceed excellence time and again with your videos, but you do. Amazing. Thank you.
Oh my, that was incredible! Simon, thank you so much for being our guide to an amazing neighborhood! I learned so much. Such a great gift! …. And Snow, I hope your knee is recovering! Take care. What an adventure. ❤

I love this video! It is so informative and thank you for sharing places that we would never be able to see or visit.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! The tour through Rocinha was fascinating. Great video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It was such an incredible day. And, yes, the dance art is amazing!
You did an amazing job of showing how people actually live day to day in a favela.Usually we only hear the shocking things but you gave us a glimpse of real everyday life.
That is what I wanted to do ... Thank you 😊
That was wonderful.
People all around the world are misunderstood!
Thanks for the interesting tour of Rio!! Great vedio's, 😊
Bravo!
Glad you enjoyed it
Superb video.
Many thanks!
Thanks so much for this wonderful favela tour!! That was GREAT!!!
Wow you guys have some balls to go up in that district. I could and would never. But, I loved seeing it through your eyes. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it... It was a day we will never forget
Wow!!! What a fabulous experience! Looks like you had THE BEST guides to show you things that most people will never experience! Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures with us.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ohh how nice 👍 for you 2 ❤
🤗
We don't plan to tavel the world, but absolutely love living vicariously through y'all!
Snow. Your explanation of what a Favela truly is, a neighborhood, is the best ever spoken from UA-camrs. Parabens. Thanks for the tour.
Wow, thank you!
Traveling with you guys is so much fun! Wow, what a ride. I am so glad I found you both. Once again, even if I traveled there I wouldn't be getting the experience you are showing us. Cheers.
We love sharing the journey 🚐😀
I'm supper excited, a new video!

The music you chose in this video during the favela/slum motorbike ride is incredible. Cool one.
When I heard the song.... I knew it was perfect for the people that live there! Choosing our music is one of our favorite parts of editing, so thank you for noticing the lyrics!!
That was fantastic. Respectful, fun, fascinating. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Vocês são incríveis! Parabéns 🎉😊
Você me fez chorar nesse final Snow.

So fascinating - thank you both for bringing us with you! Snow, you're a great dancer!😊
Favelas are some of the most interesting places ever. I like it very much that you have visited one.
Thank you. We are happy you enjoyed it 😁
When I saw this picture of the Christ the Redeemer with this background landscape and the super blue sky, I was moved and felt very proud to be Brazilian. Even with so many problems we have, it is still my home, the land I was born in and where I will die... But in the meantime, I will definitely make the most of it, and I'll live life and explore the world, just as you all are doing. Thank you very much for these images!
Glad you enjoyed.
@@RedneckJoeleva recursos pra favela
Thank you so much. I have enjoyed every moment of this delightful and enlightening video
Glad you enjoyed it!
My favorite things about your videos are learning about regional history and unique businesses. Amazing video! 🌍
Glad you like them!
Awesome! Thank you!
I'm happy you enjoyed it! The "community" we felt within the favela was strong! Yes.... It was very steep 😳😳😳😳
Thank you'all so much for sharing your journey. Packing our luggage to visit my family in Brazil this month. Howdy from New Orleans guys. Be safe and much love!
Our pleasure!
Wow, what a fantastic interesting video, thank you and of course Simon.
As always ❤🇬🇷
Truly Marvelous Glad to have a virtual trip
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow, Snow and Curt, thank you for taking me on a motorcycle ride through a favela.

I am glad you hired a guide and listened to his advice of what to do and what not to do in Rio.
