The Japanese Wolf was irradiated and most believe is extinct, but perhaps it's left a legacy with one of the most primitive Japanese dog breeds who developed on the island where the wolf remained the longest before being annihilated. Many believe the Shikoku is the most primitive all of the Japanese breeds and has wolf like characteristics through his extremely primitive DNA.
