    I am a self taught mechanic of over 30 years in the field. Helping people save money and stay safe on the road is what I am here for. If I can pass that along in my videos, that would make me feel even more accomplished. This is a huge help! There isn't a lot of good service info out there for the CX-9. Thanks!

    Great video. I couldn't make out when you compressed the rear caliper. Is it straight back or does it twist. Thanks

      @MegaMilesBen  2 місяці тому +1

      Straight back. Those are easy ones.

    Great video, going to do all my 4 rotors and pads on my Cx9. I dint see emergency break cable, is on the rear caliper?

    • @MegaMilesBen
      @MegaMilesBen  Рік тому +1

      It goes through the backside of the spindle/knuckle.

    Thanks for the video but have had the caliper brackets get cross threaded and screwed up? happened to me. First time in forty years!

      @MegaMilesBen  Рік тому

      Im sorry to hear that :( Unfortunately it can happen.
      I start all my bolts by hand and twist them in a few turns to avoid that as much as possible.

      @@MegaMilesBen thanks for the quick reply! An easy job turns into a nightmare. Bad bearing also.😕

      @tomholmes5502 at least you found it now and not while driving. Ive gotten into a few struggles myself. Wrong parts, shotty past mechanics, broken/stripped bolts and so forth. Its part of the field unfortunately.

    i am about to do mines following your video, can i just ask what would happen to the level of oil ? you said to keep an eye on. If could also add list of tools you used would be greatly appreciated, ie: Socket size and that one you used to compress the cylinders. Thanks !

      I dont remember the sizes off the top of my head, Im sorry. My videos are of clients cars and jobs I do.
      The brake caliper compressor tool comes in a kit at harbor freight for like $40-60 (I believe). There are other styles on amazon for cheaper too.
      For the brake fluid... when you compress the callipers back, the brake fluid will rise back up in the reservoir. Its a good idea to check now and then so you dont overfill the reservoir while compressing a calliper and make a mess on your floor.

    Why replace the disc they looked good?

    • @MegaMilesBen
      @MegaMilesBen  Місяць тому +1

      If I remember right the front was warped and they decided to do them all. My clients tell me what they want done and they provide their own parts. Im also not set up to turn rotors in my little shop.
      With as much money as my clients save coming to me, they can afford to make little extra decisions like that. This brake job probably cost them half the amount it would anywhere else in Denver.

      @@MegaMilesBen thanks! My Toyota Camry had rotors replaced because they were warped ! Hope my Mazda cx9 doesn't need them replaced!

      @Lessgobrandon if you have warped front rotors, youll have vibration in the steering wheel only when braking. If you have warped rotors in the rear, youll have vibration in the brake pedal only when braking.

    How do you get the real rotor off when the emergency brake adjuster is froze up?

    • @MegaMilesBen
      @MegaMilesBen  Рік тому

      Thats a hard situation to be in. Ive been there many times. All I know to do is to keep prying and pounding.
      Check the front of the rotor for a couple bolt holes, sometimes that helps push it off. Ive had to destroy parking brake shoes to get the rotors off before.
      I dont really have any tricks to offer you. Maybe someone else will chime in.
